The radiant copper-orange hue and rocky, off-white head of our traditional Märzen-style lager comes from generous amounts of Munich malt. Caramel malt aromas compliment the German lager yeast’s slightly floral aroma. Mt. Hood hops balance the substantial malt body, while the lager yeast adds a subtlety to the flavor, making this a great rendition of a classic German lager.
Prost!

Bottle into imperial pint glass.

A- Light amber. A bit light for the style. Minimal off white head. Not much to report.

S- Big dark bread malt notes. Very similar to other marzens, but something makes this one a little different. Something like a honey like sweetness going on also.

T- That sweet smell really comes out here, and not in a good way. Big sweetness, with the malts taking a distant 2nd. Some sourness on the back end. Is this unattenuated or is the beer intended to be this way? Which ever it is, I'm not a fan.

M- Medium bodied. Tough to appreciate with the not so great taste of this guy.

O- Marzens aren't my favorite beers, but I do enjoy them and try to keep reviews to style. That said, this just isn't my cup of lager.

12 oz can poured into a tulip pint glass. Appearance is a slightly cloudy deep yellow. Small head, no lacing. Aroma and flavor feature bready caramel malt and noble hop bitterness. Not super complex but hits the right flavor notes for the Märzen style with no real flaws. Very drinkable!

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a copper color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of bready malts. Taste follows the aroma, not much else, very refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

A decent marzen to start the month of October 2023...

Great lookin marzen - a beautiful golden hue even if the head on it was mostly non-existent. The smell was mild with a mouthfeel that is super crisp, and well-carbonated, all of this leading to a well-rounded flavor - true to the style. Overall, it's solid marzen, not spectacular, but definitely worth the try...

Look - amber, sudsy off white head that goes down quickly, no lacing
Smell - bread crust, malty sweetness, honey
Taste - toffee, bread crust, honey, citrus
Feel - medium light body, light carbonation, semi-dry finish
Overall - 2023 batch is 5.6%. An Oktoberfest in September? Hell yeah! The scent of crusty bread is pretty strong but there's a malty, honey sweetness in there too. Taste brings that crusty bread, toffee, honey and a hint of citrus. Low carbonation and semi-dry finish. I enjoyed this brew. It's tasty and I would have it again. Pairs well with The Joker by The Steve Miller Band. Prost!

Pours clear orange/gold with a thin short-lived white head. Aroma is faint, caramel malt and rye bread. Flavor follows the nose, a touch sweet in front, some earthy hops in the finish. Feel is on the light side of medium bodied, and only lightly carbonated. Overall, okay but certainly far behind the better Oktoberfest beers out there.

Appearance: Pours a clear, deep and rich amber color with a strong light tan head. SRM of 16. (4.25)

Aroma: Moderate aromas of rich bread malt, caramel, mildly toasted. Fairly rich.

Flavor: Moderate flavors of bread malt, brown bread, with some sweet orange citrus in the middle. Finishes with more sweet bread malt.

Feel: Medium-bodied, milder carbonation and body is smooth.

Compared to Central Waters Oktoberfest 11/2022: Pours darker, stronger aromas. More bread, caramel and toasted flavors. Stronger and more dynamic all around.

Compared to Third Space Oktoberfest 11/2022: Pours darker, milder aromas. More orange citrus. Less rich bread and toasted malts. Lower carbonation and slightly less flavor.

Overall: An okay Oktoberfest Marzen here. Nice bread and caramel flavors, but the body drinks a bit flat. Fix that and this could be a good Marzen. (Rating: 3.76)

It looks and smells like your typical octoberfest style beer, with pretty thick head and notes of nutty malt and biscuit. The taste is a bit sour at first, almost somewhat hoppy and citrusy, however theres still a bready malt profile, especially on the finish. overall a good beer, but there’s plenty of better options for the style.

Kicking off the fall festival season, the brewery of Lakefront takes a most German-like culture with an Oktoberfest and Marzen lager to make the Wisconsin German contengency worthy of cheer.

Pouring medium amber and glowing with a bright and streaming appearance, the bubbly Oktoberfest builds a creamy short froth. As its scent captures the nose with a light bread crust, nutty and slightly caramelized scent, it also carries a faint floral perfume as well. But the malt-dominant beer sets early impressions of honey, light pastry crust, light toast and a mild nutty granola sweetness.

As the toasty and sweet malts roll along the middle palate, its floral character shifts towards a pleasant grassy flavor to offset the lingering malt sweetness to an off-cloying degree. With the sweetness relaxing, the more toasty and nutty aspects of flavor start to pull away and join the mildly spicy hops in a finish of lemongrass, tea and mint.

Medium bodied and quite refreshing for such a malty beer, Lakefront's fest beer has a slightly more red ale character than the most traditional German versions but is certain to make happy to toast to a robust fall festival season.
