Pours a cloudy, pale orange color with absolutely no head. Zip! Plenty of carbonation however.

Nothing but spices. Ginger, nutmeg, and a bit of cinnamon. Has a pleasant sweetness to it although the whole package leaves a lot to be desired. Light pumpkin notes.

Light for a pumpkin beer, but everything carries over from the aroma. Spices are dominant in the flavor profile. I was hoping for more than a load of spice.

Medium-bodied lager with hardly any noticable carbonation.

Nothing special here. It's not the worst pumpkin beer I've ever had but t's also far from the best. The spice overload is a bit too much to enjoy.

The Friendly Greek recently had an entire cooler set aside for this year's pumpkin beers. I bought as many different ones as I could and I am now working my way through them between Hallowe'en and Thanksgiving.

From the bottle: "Brewed in Milwaukee for people who like beer."

I like beer, so this should be right up my alley! I gave it a good heavy handed pour, resulting in two fingers of creamy, tawny head with great retention. Color was a pumpkin-like orangish-amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. I know that 8 is between 7 and 9, but my card does not have that shade. Nose was VERY spicy, cinnamon, clove and ginger being prevalent. Mouthfeel was much fuller than the Stoudt's pumkin lager, giving this one a creamy aspect. The spices were just right, not overwhelming and by closing my eyes, I could imagine drinking a cool pumpkin latte. This is a great pumpkin lager, but don't tell Linus or he might be panicked! Get it, a Great Pumpkin lager? Finish was semi-dry, but because they showed some restraint at the spice shelf, it was not as dry as it might have been.

Slightly hazy orangish red and a 1/8" head"

An odor reminiscent of a fall or pumpkin cider (a pumpkin pie or candle) but much more restrained ... uses the pumpkin the way a clever woman uses perfume

Has a gentle effervescence.

Sweet and pumpkin flavored, but not overpowered. It's hard to tell it's a lager... something you could use to introduce a cider fan to beer.

I'd rate a cider with these properties higher, but I expected more from a beer...

A: Pours a crystal clear burnt orange to amber in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some golden yellow highlights. The beer has a three finger tall sudsy foamy light beige head that reduces to a very thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of pumpkin pie spices - cinnamon and nutmeg stand out - along with some lighter aromas of slightly sweet pumpkin.

T: Upfront there is a slightly sweet flavor of grainy malts with light to moderate flavors of pumpkin. That is followed by moderate flavors of pumpkin pie spices - cinnamon and nutmeg - as well as some lighter notes of cardamon. Minimal amounts of bitterness are perceptible.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with hints of dryness from the spices towards the finish as the beer warms up.

O: This beer has a really nice flavor to it and is quite enjoyable - nice combination of pumpkin pie spices, pumpkin, and cardamon. Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol. Definitely recommend this one for a quite enjoyable brew for a fall evening. Great with ginger snaps after dinner.

This pumpkin had a weaker body and a carrot coloring with a limited head and no lacing.

The scent was weak but nice. Pumpkin spices with a touch of maltiness I yearned for a stronger depth but enjoyed what I found.

Again, the flavors are weak but I enjoyed what I found. The taste and feel are crisp with a profound pumpkin spice dominance. I catch clove, pepper and black licorice with nutmeg and earthy gourd.

I believe that ales are always more flavorful than lagers and the only mistake that Lakefront made here was to introduce this as a lager. I find real flavor and appeal it's just too weak.

Appearance: a light amber color, with a tiny bit of head on the pour and over the surface of the beer. There is no bubbling evident throughout the beer. This is appropriate for a pumpkin ale/lager.

Smell: This is rich in pumpkin smell with some spices definitely obvious. The pumpkin is more noticeable than the rest of the flavors.

Taste: A very sweet pumpkin taste. The spices are very obvious too. Alcohol is also noticeable. It doesn't taste bad.

Mouthfeel: A low carbonation, but medium to thick beer. Definitely a good combination.

Overall: i think this is just mediocre in all aspects. Not above and beyond in any particular way, but more a bunch of okay aspects that make for an okay beer.

Pours a hazy peachy copper with a white fizzy foam that retains well. Light aroma of pumpkin spices and bready lager yeast. In the taste, crispness of lager yeast upfont, spices mid palate, and finishes with pumpkin flavor. Light cinnamon and allspice. Crisp, solid pumpkin lager.

12 ounce bottle, w/o any freshness info to be had.

Pours near clear orangy amber, basically no head, no film, no collar and no lace.

Moderate pumpkin pie spicing on the nose.

Sweet and kinda off putting with more pumpkin spicing. Also some sweet fruit juice notes that are artificial tasting and not to my liking. More nastyness in the finish. Off notes of plastic and cheap grape soda.

So many better fall/pumpkin themed brews out there....

This is a much better pumpkin beer than I was expecting. It is an amber orange color with a small but respectable white head. The aroma is sweetish, with a grainy lager background ans a sweep pumpkin pie forenose. Spice, honey, pie, reminiscent cream, and crust. Interesting and enjoyable. The sweetness could get a little overwhelming, but in small volumes, this is great. Smooth and flavorful. I would easily have another.

Poured bottle into weizen glass

A- Although this is a lager, there is some color. It is a dark amber color with a light orange hue. There was a half to 3/4 inch head that billowed up and was very bubbly and carbonated. If there was a category for sound...this one would get loud while there is still head. For two minutes it fizzled until fading out.

S- This smells just like pumpkin pie. I have a slice I am about to eat and I am comparing the two by smell. After the head faded, it smells a bit more like a lager beer. But notes of pumpkin pie spices (allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger) are present, gingerbread cookies.

T- Taste is pleasant: cinnamon, pumpkin pie, pumpkin, slight spices, but finishes with a crisp taste associated with a lager (IMO). Not overly spicy, pretty well balanced.

M- Clean, crisp, refreshing, prickly, well carbonated, but not too carbonated. Not too heavy. Quite thin, but it seems to work with this beer.

O- This is actually much better than I thought. I had a beer tasting the other night where eight of us sampled 21 pumpkin beers. This was the onl;y lager and I was very surprised. I am drinking a full serving tonight and enjoying. I expected a Molsen Canadien that tasted like it had allspice and nutmeg mixed in. I was very wrong. This can stand up to the ales, and in some cases beat them any day. Try this, it is a different approach, but a good one!

12oz bottle from the 2013 seasonal release poured into a standard pint glass.

Pours a clear rusty orange. Very little lacing and a quickly disappearing white head.

Nutmeg and cinnamon in up front in the nose, not much for pumpkin in the aroma.

One thing that makes this pumpkin stand out is the notice yeast strain taste that underlies the spies. Definitely more of a spicy pumpkin beer, I do much get much for the sweet or full pumpkin taste found in other beers.

Very dry mouthfeel - not much to it really. Flavors fade fast.

Average pumpkin beer - I don't think I would purchase this again.

12oz bottle from the 2013 seasonal release. Poured into a Founders snifter today, 10/2/2013.

Pours a clear amber hue, perhaps more of a copper hue in the right lighting. Not much of a head, which is white and disappears into almost nothing immediately. No lacing either.

Lots of spices (especially nutmeg) in the nose and not much else.. maybe a little bit of pumpkin filling. No yeast or malt sweetness anywhere.

Tastes similar to the nose, still there is a decent caramel sweetness that underlies the pumpkin and nutmeg. A little bit of that different spice flavour that I recognize from most other lagers, which I assume is the lager yeast's contribution.

Typical lager mouthfeel, a bit thin but that's about right. I think this beer is undercarbonated though.. A bit sticky and dry. Nothing special. Kind of refreshing, but at the same time the spice flavour profile kind of makes this a hard one to finish for me.

This is a fairly decent pumpkin beer, no more no less. I wouldn't buy this again.

O: 3.25 this is a good pumpkin lager, very crisp and refreshing.

A: The beer is hazy amber yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin yet dense beige head that never completely faded away.
S: Light to moderate aromas of pumpkins and pumpkin spices are present in the nose—nutmeg seems to stand out in particular.
T: The taste follows the smell but has a bit more complexity with slight bits of initial sweetness and hints of cardamom spices towards the finish.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied, clean and a little smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this to be an easy-drinking pumpkin beer that has a good balance between the pumpkin flavors and spices. It would make for a good beer to pair with an autumn-themed dinner.

Pours a huge, dense, white head that collapses into a soapy white, half-inch foam. Wonderfully spicy aroma dominated by spice, with a touch of pumpkin behind it all. Amber-orange color. Starts off with spice and carbonation, the clovier-spice takes hold until the biscuit malt comes into play with the pumpkin; pumpkin pie or spiced cookies - this is the main flavor profile. The spice mutes as the finish comes on, then it's lingering pumpkin malt.

I absolutely love this one. One of two (Southern Tier "Pumpking") pumpkin biers I will drink. The addition of pumpkin to the mash allows this lager to showcase the pumpkin with a clarity that is unparalleled. This bier made me like pumpkin pie. When I drink this, I know it's Autumn.

Had this in a bottle poured into a glass.

Appearance: Perhaps the most impressive part of this beer and that should tell you where the rest of the review is going. Dark coppery color, reminds me of a dark apple cider in look. The bubbles streaming to the top would suggest a lot of carbonation and while there is some head, it dissipates rather quickly.

Smell: Hardly anything to report here. Kind of a sweet smell to the beer.

Taste: Good, clean and not much if any after taste. The whole of the beer has this light feeling to it, and perhaps that is what you are looking for in a pumpkin beer. I wanted a little more out of it. I would recommend this for a football game tailgate.

Mouthfeel: Despite the presence of clearly a lot of carbonation, doesn't actually overwhelm you. Like I said above, clean crisp beer.

Overall: I wouldn't recommend this one for someone looking for the ultimate pumpkin beer. But if you wanted a taste of the season without getting full, then this would be your beer.

A: Pours a cloudy yellow orange color with a short lived off-white head of wide bubbles and little lacing.

S: More spices to it, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon. A bit of overdone, overripe stink, like cider. Almost a wheat beer quality, yeasty.

T: Very fruity and sweet up front, again like a wheat beer, then spiciness follows. More spicy and yeasty, than pumpkiny. A bit metallic, slightly off flavor, not inviting another.

M: Light bodied with medium carbonation. Goes down thin and leaves a metallic feel on the tongue, not a great finish

O:One of the lower rated pumpkins I tried in 2013.

Appearance - light orange caramel color with a little to no head or lacing

Smell - light nutmeg smell, but nothing over the top

Taste - very light beer with very subtle spice flavor

Mouthfeel - this is best quality for this beer. Nice spice flavor ends as the beer easily leaves the mouth with minimal carbonation.

Overall - not a bad fall pumpkin beer, but perhaps if it wasn't a lager some of the spice smell and flavor would be stronger

Pours copper with little head and carbonation. Smell is of cinnamon and cloves with a bit of caramel. Tastes sweet and a little cinnamon spicy up front, followed up by cloves, ginger and nutmeg. Not much malt going on other than a mild sweetness. Very little bitterness. Silky mouthfeel probably helped by very little carbonation.

Overally -- a nicely balanced pumpkin beer. Not much going on other than some malt sweetness to balance out the spices, but that's what I like from a pumpkin ale. I'd buy this again.

Color is an orange golden clear color with a white head that fades fast.
Smell is of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. maybe a light bread note from the malt.
Taste- Spices up front light cinnamon and cloves stand above the rest. A bit of grassy or hay like flavor with a tiny bit of malt character of bread and caramel. This is a lager so finishes pretty clean.

12 oz bottle poured into a Lakefront imperial pint.
6.0% ABV, Bottled 08/29/13

A - The brilliant color is a light amber pumpkin orange and crystal clear with pale yellow highlights and lazy but steady bubbles rising up. A cream-colored head billowed up to two fingers and slowly went down to a thin blanket of foam leaving a ring of legs.

S - The immediate realization from the first sniff is that this pumpkin lager is much different than the usual pumpkin ales. It's muted aromas are more crisp and mellow with spice being the most prominent on the nose with dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg and a pumpkin aroma following closely. A touch of caramel malt is in the back, grounding the beer with no hops evident.

T - The taste closely mirrors the aroma with spices being the first noticeable flavor - nutmeg and cinnamon - but the pumpkin flavor is the most prominent and lingering aspect of the beer. A touch of caramel and a light kiss of hops are present, leaving the beer orchestrated very well; think diet pumpkin pie - great, natural flavor but not incredibly rich like normal pie.

M - Lakefront's Pumpkin lager is smooth, on the verge of being creamy, but still crisp and refreshing. A small carbonation bite gives a little kick at the end of this medium bodied lager which has just a slight dryness to the finish and lingers with pumpkin and spice on the tongue.

O - Lakefront Pumpkin Lager is a exceptionally crafted pumpkin beer that takes the richness of pumpkin ale and drops it back a few notches, creating a great start-of-fall beverage that's still drinkable and refreshing in warm weather but, with the pumpkin and spice, remains great when it cools down. Also a good "beginner" pumpkin beer for those who want to get their feet wet, and one of my personal favorites of the season!

This is one flavored beer I truly enjoy every year in fall. It is out early this year Aug 24. I fist had it on tap at The Mason Tavern a few years back, and what stood out was that it was easy drinking, full of flavor, and for a spiced beer, I could have drank it all night.

I poured it into a lager mug, color, pumpkin-orange, hazy, cloudy, very nice.

It had a initial aroma that was tart, sharp spice.

The flavor is beautiful, a nice lager with a mild yet full of flavor pumpkin, that sits on the back of the tongue, thick, bready, like you could chew it. Better even when the carbonation dissipates. This is one of the best pumpkin beers out there. They use real pumpkin, not just flavorings.

A excellent beer!

Pours an orange-red, totally clarified, with a waifish head that fizzles away quickly. On the nose you've got cinnamon first and foremost. If you really get in there it's like a stick of Big Red. Underneath that is that is an earthy, leafy aroma. Smells sweet and spicy. Man, you can really taste the pumpkin in this, and the spice, and I think I'm getting the alcohol coming through pretty prominently for...what is this, a six? Sweet and a little malty otherwise. Nice mouthfeel, good flavor but light and refreshing - I think you could have a few of these without getting burnt out. I like this one quite a bit, really goes down easy. Not like an amazing pumpkin beer, but worth picking up for the season. I'll probably buy some more while it's out!

This was my favorite pumpkin beer. I have tried other pumpkin beers (not a lot) but I really appreciated this one because the style of this beer (lager) and the notes of pumpkin seemed to come together really well. At each sip, my sense tells me that this beer and the pumpkins were brewed together from start to finish -- in unity if you will. The pumpkin flavor is not overwhelming but you know it is there when you take a sip. Definitely refreshing and I usually grab a second one.

I have tried other beers - pumpkin ales (not lagers) - that seem to fall short in pumpkin flavor that I'm looking for; it seems it only add a tiny dash of pumpkin pie spice and nothing more. However this may be what it's supposed to be and maybe my preferences are different than others who enjoy pumpkin beers. This beer never fails to please me.

12 oz bottle served in a snifter.
Pours a hazy orange (pumpkin)/amber with an off-white head that soon disappears.

S: Pumpkin pie spices (mainly cinnamon and nutmeg), pumpkin puree and some biscuity malts.

T: A nice mix and balance of spicing, but too strong. It masks the pumpkin until the finish and leaves little detectable malt/grain flavor. Interesting sweet/tart mix.

M: Medium bodied, with a level of carbonation that seemed a bit aggressive.

O: yet another over-spiced pumpkin beer, and this one is of the more subtle lager variety, making the imbalance more of an issue. Nonetheless, the well-chosen mix of spices will appeal to those who like spicy pumpkin beers.
