One of Milwaukee's best brewery tours, a group of friends had nothing to do on the weekend of St. Patrick's Day so we decided to do the Lakefront Tour again. We got walkup tickets pretty easily and only had to wait 30 mins before our time slot was ready to go.

In the interim, I tried a new beer they had on tap with one of the 4 tokens for the tour (8 oz pours) it was a very tasty hop forward (hop bursted) ipa called hop experiment #14 (or something like that). Glad to see they are doing some new stuff.

Lots of people in the main room, but It didn't take long to get a drink. After finishing of the first sample and grabbing a second (a Fixed Gear) the tour group was getting together to voyage into the brewery.

The guide was charismatic and incorporated humor with history and facts about the brewery and process. He answered a few questions about there process and cleared up one of my observations about their beers. Along the way we grabbed another fill, (this time an IPA) and made it through the crowning of the bung queen.

Finally we sang the classic Lavern and Sherly song and back into the main hall to finish off our tokens. Not bad for $7.

If you are from out of town its a great spot, if you are an MKE native and haven't been before.. what is wrong with you? (1,283 characters)

Taproom is decent. A very large open room with quite a few tables, almost like a gymnasium. Very small gift shop. The brewery tour was not bad, although we took the shorter version. A long, more in-depth, version is available.

The food was probably the best part of the visit for me. I was tasting the polish pops for 2 days though, not necessarily a bad thing! (362 characters)

beautiful building all around from inside and out. knowledgeable and friendly staff, and food is awesome. selection of beers is obviously limited cause its a brewery and they only have their things. however thats not a killer cause its some really good beer. (261 characters)

Fun tour; guides are knowledgeable, interesting and funny. Cool old building. Ability to take a beer on the tour is a plus. I'm not sure why every tour isn't that way; I mean, it is a brewery, right? Tour is about 45 minutes, with the ability to taste several beers before and/or after. My only knock is that the selection of taps at the brewery seems weirdly limited. Lakefront is known for having one of the best fish fries in Milwaukee, which is no small feat. (469 characters)

This is by far the BEST brewery tour I have been on. I like it so much that almost every time I go to Milwaukee, I make a point to reserve a spot at the Lakefront tour. Price is perfect. You get 4 beers and a Pint glass for less than $10. Tour guides are great and will make you laugh! Beer is good, not great. Experience is top notch, and the food is really good too! (369 characters)

This is a Milwaukee staple, and I particularly enjoy chilling here in the summer by the river and it is located in a beautiful building but this place is far from perfect.

The Good:
-Fun, Inexpensive Tour with knowledgeable guides. Spend the $7 to do this, but save your tokens (4) for the tour beers.
-The Friday Fish Fry is awesome, I especially love the smelt when it is in season! Also this is one of the few good places to get "Lake Fish."
-They do an AHA discount and give you a coupon for a free pint (from select bar) for doing the tour.

The Bad:
-While I am sure they cannot control the crowd that comes into their establishment really the crowds do get excessive, and the "white-girl wasted" factor raises exponentially.
-The beer is hit or miss, while they do stay true to there core beers those core beers are just okay. Seek out the Grand Cru, or something that is only at the brewery.
-For just "Okay" beer the staff is quite rude, and doesn't seem to care about the customer. It seems they have the mentality of "you can be replaced," This may be true for a time but what happens when brewery tours that hipsters do to impress their friends?

If you have a week to spend in Milwaukee and end up with a couple hours with nothing to do, go do this brewery, but don't out of your way or plan this into your schedule with limited time. (1,355 characters)
