Poured from a 12 fl oz bottle into a pint glass. Stout brewed with lactose.
Appearance: Pours a solid black body with a thin brown head that recedes quickly. Head was almost dancing in carbonation as it receded.
Smell: Pungent coffee bean smell. Very nice.
Taste: Pleasant. Not as strong tasting as I would have expected based upon the appearance and smell. Almost tastes like a coffee soda. The roasted malts are there - but the sweetness of the sugar/lactose comes through even stronger.
Mouthfeel: Again, not as thick as one would expect based upon the appearance and smell. Very carbonated (which is interesting if you are expecting Guinness-like velvety smoothness). Drinks like a soda.
Overall: My first milk stout. I like it. It is definitely interesting and certainly an easy-drinker.
