looks like a milk stout. dark dark espresso brown with a tepid but persistent half-finger tan head that leaves bits of lace.
aroma is sweet, caramal, molasses with vanilla and a hint of spice. roasted malt and a touch earthy. touch of espresso.
taste follows, with an earthy, chalky, cocoa powdery malt base accentuated by some light acidity from the lactose and a touch of spice from hops. a touch of cream and a hint of caramel.
mouth is moderate on the body but a touch too heavy on the carbonation makes it a touch fizzy.
all in all, a solid milk stout. border-line textbook example. it does its job pretty well, aside from the carbonation, but that might just be this bottle and handling issues more than anything. It was good enough that I'd be willing to search for another bottle or two.
