22oz bottle, no date. Pours nearly black with a medium sized light brown head. Smells of rich cocoa and roasted malt. Taste follows very closely with dark chocolate, lactose, and malt. It has good amount of sweetness. Medium flavor intensity. Average carbonation and slightly below average body. Although it's a bit one-dimensional, it's a great example of a Milk Stout.

Very tasty on draft. Chocolate is evident but not overwhelming. Best LBC product I have tasted.

The Double Choco Stout was good....but I didn't think it was as good as the porter. The beer poured a dark opaque with white head that did not leave any lacing. The scent had chocolate and hint of coffee. The taste had a, not overpowering, hersy like tone. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with subtle carbonation. Overall it was decent.....but doesn't match up with other stouts that are out there.

Had this upon my first (and certainly not last) visit to the brewery. Served in an imperial pint.

-Low head when poured, but with a nice thin retention throughout. Very nice lacing as I enjoyed the beer.

-The aroma is warm and inviting. Clearly dark chocolate notes, slight coffee aroma, cherries and raspberries. Slightly nutty like sugar pecans.

-The taste is delicious with a fantastic chocolate flavor. The raspberries in the aroma comes out on the tongue, and a slight nutty flavor is present. Dark chocolate is clearly the theme though. Think of the potent way that some Southern Tier beers taste (Mocha, Choklat, Creme Bru Lee), but get rid of the over the top potency. I like those beers just fine, but I personally enjoy this more. It seems far more accessible and drinkable. Creme bru le can seemingly only be enjoyed in small doses, where as the Double Chocolate Milk Stout is easy going, flavorful, and very enjoyable.

-It starts off thin, but ends up "thick". The carbonation level seems to be right, so say the thin/thick as a negative, just pointing it out.

-Overall, I think this is a fantastic beer. Their Milk Stout is my favorite Milk Stout available, and this only improves upon it in it's on way. I only wish they would bottle it, and start to distribute to NC!

Look: Dark brown, with an ample beige head.

Smell: Pure sweetened chocolate and or chocolate syrup. (Very neat!)

Taste: The nose never quite materializes in the mouth, with only a whisper
at best of chocolate. Really no sweetness to speak off and the beer actually
transitions fairly quickly to a somewhat smoky and tart finish.

Feel: A bit light for a stout.

Overall: Meh...doesn't deliver on the chocolate promise in the nose,
with respect to a more dessert-like sweet/syrupy beer. Although
the nose was actually a very neat experience in itself, wouldn't
recommend or revisit.
