Pours a very light (bright?) straw color with a tight white head that fades away pretty quickly, to leave a layer about 2-3mm thick across the top that clings to the glass. Wow, I actually smell hops. Some citrusy notes as well. There's some citrus in the taste as well. Grapefruit, actually. Other than that, it's fairly dry and clean, very 'bright' I guess.. The mouthfeel is fairly fizzy, but not harsh. Finishes very cleanly. A very drinkable beer, I'm liking this a lot. Unusual too. Refreshing.

look: 2.5 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3 | overall: 3.25

Bottled beer served in a pint glass.

Appearance -
Forms a thin, white 1 cm head which very quickly dissipates to a thin film. A bright yellow colour (hence the name), which is slightly hazy. Plenty of fizz and random lacing can be observed. Not much to see here.

Smell -
Standard pale ale territory - floral notes, pine, citrus, and as a point of difference, a hint of sweetness and dried apricot. On the weaker side.

Taste -
Mostly malt, a touch of yeast, and a touch of bitterness. The obvious flavours are citrus and hops, but it's sweeter and maltier than a typical pale. A soda water base, which makes for a slightly bland brew, but there's a hint of that apricot and Manuka honey to set it apart. Overall the flavours are well balanced, even if it's not the most unique one out there.

Mouthfeel -
Lots of fizz, like pop rocks on the tongue. Medium body, a smooth creamy feel and a bit of foaming.

Overall -
Not a bad brew, but uninspiring. A standard pale ale, but doesn't stand above the cheaper Coopers Pale, and you wouldn't pick this over the well known Little Creatures Pale. Moderately enjoyable and goes well with food - not being overly heavy or rich.

I really enjoyed this beer. Good floral hop aromas and fruitiness on the palate giving more a sweeter finish as opposed to bitter. Probably light on bittering hops in the brewing process on purpose. Very easy to drink. Clear golden colour. Had this beer with a variety of foods. Perfect with a steak on the BBQ and a range of good cheeses like a blue or aged cheddar...give it a try.

375ml bottle poured into pint glass 15/3/14

A clear bright golden yellow with bubbles big and small, a finger of soapy head doesn't have much for retention but somehow leaves lots of random lace even after it fell

S honey, pineapple juice, some cracker, just a faint hint of spruce, some floral and grassy hops, smells pretty good

T not far from the smell but a little less citrus and more cracker and bread, still a fair bit of hops but the nose has the edge

M quite slick on the palate almost slimy, coats my mouth but I don't mind, light bodied but bubbles cream it up a bit, grainy lemon finish

O not bad at all, hopped up and has a fair bit of flavour for 4.5%, I'm not head over heels but I'm surprised this one doesn't get more love

I could session this under a hot Aussie sun and I would if it wasn't pissing rain outside right now. Little Creatures was the only brewery I recognized at the Ma and Pa liquor store I went to today and could easily drink this again.

Has the makings of a decent session beer, with one exception. The harshness of the hops, similar to what is going on with James Squire beers. Can taste some bubble-gummy kiwi hop flavours, but the harshness of what I presume are some Aussie hops overwhelmes. Needs to be cleaner-tasting to qualify as a well crafted ale.

Its not a spectacular beer but i'd say its now my favorite session beer.
Its not a connoisseurs beer, but there was something about it I enjoyed.
Light on the palate, not hoppy at all.
You may dine at michelin star dining, but that doesn't mean the Chinese takeaways have to be that style! horses for courses.

Schooner at the Royal George.

Golden. Good clarity. White foam on top falls all too quickly to nothing. It comes back with some agitation, but falls once more, too soon.

Muted hop aroma. A tiny bit of passionfruit and very little else.

A little bit of the passionfruit comes through along with grass cuttings. Not real good at all.

Ok body and the bitterness is slightly higher than the rest would lead you to believe. However I'd hardly call it sessionable as I won't be ordering another. But this is more a reflection of taste than anything else.

I thought this used to be ok. This glass wasn't. Not the best use of calories. A way too muted sibling of their Pale Ale, falling well short of the flavour level of the stablemate. Seems like they are really paring this one back.

A: Pours a clear light golden color with a good head that fades to some lacing.

S: MIld aroma of citrus and bit of malt sweetness.

T: Taste is similar to the aroma with a bit of citrus and malt sweetness. Mild bitterness and a clean finish.

F: Light body, crisp smooth and refreshing, has a nice freshness.

O: Not a fancy but is a good session beer that goes down easy.
