Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine June 2007.

In Australia, Little Creatures Pale Ale is more or less the quintessential fallback beer, and a reliable standard for many--seemingly available everywhere either on tap or bottled. No additives. No preservatives. Unfiltered.

Due to the sediment in the bottle, it pours a slightly cloudy amber that shines with golden hues. Topped with a healthy white cascading head that drops to a sticky foam lace--very appealing and lasting. Slightly musty orchard aroma, with soft apple skins, pale malt husks and metallic notes in the background. Crisp up front, firm mouthfeel, smooth and creamy on the palate. Underneath is a semi-sharp bite of carbonation and a citric hop character that's also grassy at times. Mild fruitiness and a juicy quality, with a base of pale malt sweetness. A nice toasty flavor rounds things off and provides depth, with faint caramel notes shining through as the beer warms. A powdery malt forms in the finish, which is pleasing and fairly clean.

This Little Creatures release is a delicious Pale Ale and an awesome session beer, offering plenty of flavors with a very simple and approachable drinkability. Our only problem with it is that it's not available where we live. Bummer.

Poured a dark yellow colour with white head.

Smell citrus, malt, slight hop

Taste is great, citrus, slight but very nice hoppy bitterness to finish

Mouthfeel great, light with little to no dryness although quite carbonated

All in all a great beer! I can picture drinking on a beach

The beer pours a dark yellow color with 2 cm of foam, from the tap. Slightly sweet in the aroma with floral undertones and a bit of grassy bitterness. A weak malt presence followed by pineapple and citrus hops. Nothing overwhelming here, but a solid, drinkable brew.

Golden color with a two finger head with short retention.
Light aroma of biscuit malt and some citric fruitiness.
Sweet malty flavor with notes of honey, biscuit, pears with some citrusy. Mildly dry aftertaste.
Light to medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Really a not bold brew, rather smooth, but still pleasant and well executed. I may need to try a fresher version, this one is due in 4 months.
