I hate to do this, but I need to give this brewery a bad review because of it's service.
I went there once back in the winter of 2006, did the tour, had a beer afterwards and everything was great. I don't remember having to wait a long time for drinks, but it could have been that we got special service because we were a part of the tour group.
I went back in fall of 2013 and I had a terrible experience. We walked out after waiting at our table for around 30 minutes without even being offered a menu. The last 15 minutes were spent trying to wave at the wait staff, but we weren't the only ones. Looking around the bar, it seemed as though most people were annoyed. This isn't to say that the wait staff was being lazy, the problem was that they were understaffed. Whomever manages this place is doing it an incredible disservice by having so few people working at one time. The odd thing was that the restaurant wasn't even full. There were still plenty of open seats!
I would normally just brush this off as being a bad night, but I noticed that people on tripadvisor.com had similar experiences. It seems to be trend.
All of this is quite sad because the building is really beautiful and the beers are tasty. I especially like their rauchbier. I've never had the food there, but it looks hearty.
My suggestion would be to do the tour so that you can be sure to be served at the end of it. If you want to eat, order your food while the guide is still there. Maybe order more than one beer at a time because there is a good chance you will have to wait a long time between placing orders for drinks.

This is a gorgeous brewery, tucked away in one of the nicest towns in Europe. If you are near Eggenberg, make it a point to visit. I was there on Easter weekend, and the place was occupied by only a few regulars. The first floor has a beer garden and several drafts. It's self-service, so you pour yourself a beer and drop your money in the jar. Quite endearing. The second floor is cavernous, ancient brewery with nice wood finish and an oak bar. They have food and tours, as well. The beer is delicious. Highly recommended.

I visited this place while studying abroad in the Czech Republic. I read about this place while reading a beer magazine and I remembered my visit to this establishment distinctly. It was a hidden gem Cesky Krumlov and was quite inexpensive for both the beer and the food although I didn't try the food. There was a lot of us here with a student group and we had the choice of two Czech Pilsners and a couple German beers as well. I believe it was only about a dollar or two per beer and the beers were quite impressive. I'd recommend checking out this place. Cesky Krumlov is a great town to visit as well if you are in the Czech Republic.

The only brewery in the "fairy tale" UNESCO town of Cesky Krumlov. This place has a small take away shop, larger pub, and huge retaurant. You can take tours of the brewery as well. Brewing has taken place there since the 1600s. Went twice in one day, had three different beers. Traditional blond svetly lager; cerny/tmave dark lager and cloudy yeast lager (kvasnicove). The last was the best of the three but all three were very tasty. Go drink this beer when in town instead of Pilsner Urquell. Great atmosphere and beer.
