Served to me in a clear, plastic pint glass. I had this on-tap for free at the happy hour at the Embassy Suites hotel my dad and I are staying at in Phoenix, AZ for a few days. This beer is a very clear, light to medium golden color with a white head that is about 1/2 to 2/3 of an inch thick when first drawn and served to me with streams of bubbles rising to the beer's surface up until the last sip. Settles to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with some nice cluster swirls of foam on the beer's surface and pretty decent lacing. Aromas of some corn and some crisp malts and now much else. Has a crisp, somewhat sweet malt presence upfront that gives way to some grains and a faint hint of corn that is rounded out with a slight touch of hops. Not bad, but certainly not great either. One of these was enjoyable and refreshing on an 80 degree evening here in Phoenix, but it is not something I'd go out of my way to drink. Has a crisp, slightly frothy, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. Just a decent beer.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is sweet, malty. Taste is malts, some sweetness, a bit of corn. Feels light in the mouth and overall, a refreshing but mediocre beer.

Aroma is grains and corn. The flavor is grains/malts, corn, light fruit and mostly inoffensive.

I haven't had one of these light El Cheapo beers for a while. So I was surprised that it's sort of drinkable as a watery gulp. But then the corn and club soda taste take over. There is something like hops, I am thinking, but then it turns soapy.

This stuff even looks cheap in the glass. The coarse bubbles peter out quickly. Sort of sweet and grainy. Not even refreshing, though if you were seriously sweating and gasping from thirst it would be welcome enough. But rated as a Czech Pilsener it's laughable. From the 12 oz bottle with the longest neck I have ever seen.

I thought it tasted like egg yolk with a very weird taste and smell. I'll just finish my six pack and never buy this again.

I enjoyed this Czech Pils, I would grade it higher than most Mexican Imports. It compliments the majority of a Mexican Menu.

I'm seriously surprised by this beer. Strong, crisp mouthfeel. No skunkyness that one might associate with a typical Mexican beer. In fact, this beer is totally atypical when compared to other Mexican brews. I'm a huge fan of sessionable pilsners and this one is distinctive and absolutely drinkable. A solid beer all around.

Appearance: Quite clear, light golden in color, with a large, coarse white head, and scattered, patchy lacing. The carbonation is sparse, with fat bubbles drifting lazily to the surface.

Aroma: Cooked corn and vegetal notes dominate the aroma, with no perceptible hop notes.

Taste: Opens with a wave of corn malt, with a vaguely burnt characteristic. As the taste progresses, earthy and metallic hops appear, and dominate to the close of the taste.

Mouth feel: Smooth, fairly soft, a bit thin.

Drinkability/notes: Not much here, seems very cheaply-made and mediocre. I paid ninety-nine cents plus tax for a single bottle, that seems about right for this Corona knockoff.

Presentation: Packaged in a custom, enameled, twelve-ounce brown glass long-neck bottle, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Montejo has a thick, somewhat fizzy, white head, and a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, with minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, lightly-roasted, bready malts, and the flavor is of sweet bread, mild hop bitterness, and possibly maize. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Montejo finishes crisp, refreshing, and highly drinkable.

Color is a curious mix of light orange, gold, dark yellow and faint brown. No head though, even when pouring fast! The smell nose is oakiness, which is odd. A roasted butterscotch also in the mix. Like most mexican beers, a doughy yeast comes on strong after swirling. Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour taste. Lot’s of vanilla maltose, however its not overpowering. A sprinkle of nuttiness and a bit of pizza dough mouthfeel. Quenchable to the thirst.

My next few reviews would mostly be mexican beers with some american tossed in too, since I am on a trip around Yucatan at this moment.

ABV 4.5 %
355 ml can poured into a plastic cup. Clear golden yellow colour with a half finger head that disappeared immediately. Average amount of bubbles into the glass.
As with most mexican beers aroma is not that easy to distinguish. Nothing here too, just a "beery"  smell that is pleasant though.
Taste is good, but nothing you can put your finger on, it's not bitter, it's not sweet. Maybe somewhere in the middle.
Medium thickness on the body and slight carbonation.
Overall, slighty better than your average mexican beer.

Pours a clear light golden yellow. A burst of carbonation and one finger of white head quickly give way, leaving a lethargic yellow liquid. Looks like ginger ale, but with less fizz.

Smell is lager yeast, some light hops, and a strong background hit of adjuncts.

Tastes slightly wheaty, slightly corny, with an odd chalky bitterness that comes in for the finish. Thin and meh.

Light body, almost flat. Not good, in my opinion. Watery, but with a lingering chalky feel on the tongue that I really don't like.

Not impressed. Whatever this beer is, I don't think it's very good. Minimal flavor, and what's there isn't great.

Straw gold with the faintest orange notes. Head is actually worse than Pacifico, dying almost instantly. Little streaming, no lace. Aroma is mostly dry and grainy, like stale corn meal. Hops are peppery and earthy, contributing to the overall effect of drinking dirt.

The flavor is like a slightly boozy corn syrup, not overly sweet but a touch of that, and not overly skunky but a touch of that as well. Light in body, carbonation is actually pretty well attenuated to keep this creamy smooth.

In general, this is simply an undercooked pilsner, not that I'm claiming it should be off the spectrum. It is much better tasting than its cousin Pacifico, but it showcases its alcohol proudly where quality beers are more subtle. Not a good beer, but slightly better than the competition (in terms of Mexican pale lagers, not genuine pilsners).

Reviewed from notes - had this beer while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a glass.

Apperance - Straw yellow (what else?) with just a film of head. Lots of visible carbonation.

Smell - There's a bit of corn, but nothing else. Very unimpressive.

Taste - I get smacked on the front of my palate with a strong corn taste which isn't all that pleasing. There's almost nothing else to this beer - 95% of the taste is on the front end and the rest is like water.

Mouthfeel - Like carbonated water.

Overall - Ugh. Avoid if at all possible.

A: Pours a straw yellow color with a small, white head on top. Very little head retention and practically no lacing whatsoever.

S: Some sweet corn, grainy malt and an extremely faint grassy aroma.

T: A little better than the aroma. Heavier malt presence, with some sweetness and a bit of corn, but not very much. The grass component is a bit stronger as well.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Crisp and easy drinking.

O: Not the best Mexican beer, but better than many. Would drink this over Corona/Sol everday of the week.

This can lists 4.5% ABV. I am surprised to see it classified as a "Czech pilsner", as in my opinion it is pretty much the epitomy of an "adjunct lager".

The only ingredient listed on the can is "100% aluminum" - which explains the metallic taste? However as there is only a hint of grain and a defined corn sweetness, I am reviewing this as an adjunct lager. Either that or it would be the worst pilsner ever...

Pale straw colour and sustained rapid effervescence. No aroma to speak of, and very light flavour profile. No maltiness and the only hops are in a slight bitterness to the finish.

Perhaps I've been in Mexico too long and now see corn everywhere, but I am convinced this is an adjunct. Fine if one is looking for volume & "cold", but certainly not ideal if looking for taste.

From a 12oz bottle - My bottle says 4.5% and it clearly tastes like one and not a 6% as stated here.

A: Clear see thru light yellow w/ medium carbonation
S: not impressed; it has LIGHT BEER written al over it.
T: bitter, corn, foamy.
M: watery.
D: You can have this to win a beer-bong competition, it really goes down easily.

I was pretty disappointed with this beer, probably because I had some expectations to it. Believe it or not most of my mexicans friends do not now the existence of this beer.

This one will go down as a memory of life since i'll never ask for this one again.

Poured from a 1.2 liter bottle into a regular glass cup.

A: Light golden yellow color with a bubbly head that dissipates extremely quickly.
S: Strong corn aroma with alcohol and maltiness.
T: Slightly metallic with a peculiar bitter ending.
M: Light bodied with high carbonation.
D: While easy to drink, it is not too enjoyable. I can see this being refreshing on a hot summer day. Nothing special about this beer.

Appearance - This is a light yellow in color with a slight shade of orange. The bright white head came up easy and actually showed some retention.

Smell - The grain is light and easy here if a bit on the stale side.

Taste - The grain turns corny at the taste with an offputting sweetness.

Mouthfeel - This light-bodied lager was smooth with a light carbonation that gave it a refreshing character.

Drinkability - Parts of this beer begged to be dumped but the positive aspects of it just did keep it out of the sink.

Note: I think this is only the second time in almost 2,000 reviews that I have five different ratings that none are the same. Bizarre . . .
