Color is a curious mix of light orange, gold, dark yellow and faint brown. No head though, even when pouring fast! The smell nose is oakiness, which is odd. A roasted butterscotch also in the mix. Like most mexican beers, a doughy yeast comes on strong after swirling. Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour taste. Lot’s of vanilla maltose, however its not overpowering. A sprinkle of nuttiness and a bit of pizza dough mouthfeel. Quenchable to the thirst. (478 characters)

poured ok into the glass. thin body, pale color, decent one half inch head, steady carbonation. light taste that was very nice on a hot vacation day in Cancun. Si! not a great beer but a decent thirst quencher on a hot day.

12 oz into dog-faced mug.

A: Looks very pale-golden. Not much lacing head virtually disappears.

S: Smells kinda like a Corona, not much there. although this beer is much better than a Corona.

T: Very light maybe a bit of well pasteurized hop character. Faint grains. Bit metallic.

M: light bodied but not terrible for this type of beer.

D: Very refreshing for those of you that have a palette for lime and salt add it to this beer its good for what ails you on a hot summer's day. (485 characters)

My next few reviews would mostly be mexican beers with some american tossed in too, since I am on a trip around Yucatan at this moment.

ABV 4.5 %
355 ml can poured into a plastic cup. Clear golden yellow colour with a half finger head that disappeared immediately. Average amount of bubbles into the glass.
As with most mexican beers aroma is not that easy to distinguish. Nothing here too, just a "beery"  smell that is pleasant though.
Taste is good, but nothing you can put your finger on, it's not bitter, it's not sweet. Maybe somewhere in the middle.
Medium thickness on the body and slight carbonation.
Overall, slighty better than your average mexican beer. (669 characters)

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Pours a clear, golden yellow with a white head, no head retention, really thin, lots of carbonation, no lacing, looks very drinkable.

A: Grainy, earthy, herbal malts, no alcohol, not much else, smells okay.

T: Mild grainy, earthy, herbal flavor, slight citrus bitterness in the middle, finishes smooth, it's not bad.

M: Very light with lots of carbonation.

O: I actually enjoyed this, I could see myself drinking this while grilling some carne asada on a hot summer day, a mild touch of grainy, earthy flavors, touch of citrus bitterness in the middle, finishes smooth, light, easy drinking. (641 characters)

From notes. Drank while on vacation at Playa Del Carmen in Mexico.

Unique but still quite average.

Pours a yellow dried straw color. A weak fizzy head and very little lacing. Scents are wheat and sweet corn. A hop bite fights its way through. Scents are the weakest part of this beer.

The flavors pick it up a bit. There are sweet malts and sweet corn flavors. The hoppy bite is stronger and present. A bit of fruit and a tangy finish. There is a unique dry flavor to all the flavors that separates this beer from other Mexican pilsners. It is nothing overly special but it is different.

A very crisp and easy drinking beer. On a hot day many of these could go down easy. A good refreshing quality.

Not my first choice of Mexican beers but definately a step up from Corona and a few of the others. At least this beer feels like some creativity went in to making it. (881 characters)

Tasted from a 40 oz bottle. Look: Pale yellow color, poor head of foam; Smell: Soft, dry malts and grain; Taste: Again dry malts and chayote with floral hops; Mouthfeel: Clean and crisp, slightly bitter with a subtly salty finish; Drinkability: I always hated this beer but the last time i drank it was good. (308 characters)

A classic from the southeastern of my country, made originally for in memoriam of the founder of its city Merida Yucatan, Don Francisco de Montejo, with 45 years of rich history, this brand is one of the czech pilsner beers sold in my city, perfect for mexican and american food, serve in a pilsner glass. (305 characters)

Not a fan of pilsners, but it is what it is, not bad but not good either. Refreshing beer, hoppiness and bitternes makes it very sessionable, great in southern mexico, but as it is shipped to the north it loses character. (221 characters)

Now this is a strange style coming from the tropics of México: Czech pilsener.

It's color is quite average: Straw yellow, with little, if any, head; almost no lacing.

Smell is almost unnoticeable, but you can, maybe, pick up some maltiness.

Taste is crisp and refreshing. Period.

Mouthfeel is dry, with some bitterness from the hops.

In a hot humid day, you can have several of these.

This can be very confusing. If you try it like a Czech Pilsener it would be a common beer, but if you try it like a Lager it would get a better score. Unfotunately, beers here are almost all lagers, and if they are not, they are like adapted to lager fans. IT has a strong taste that tells you it is not a lager. (312 characters)

From a 12oz bottle - My bottle says 4.5% and it clearly tastes like one and not a 6% as stated here.

A: Clear see thru light yellow w/ medium carbonation
S: not impressed; it has LIGHT BEER written al over it.
T: bitter, corn, foamy.
M: watery.
D: You can have this to win a beer-bong competition, it really goes down easily.

I was pretty disappointed with this beer, probably because I had some expectations to it. Believe it or not most of my mexicans friends do not now the existence of this beer.

This one will go down as a memory of life since i'll never ask for this one again. (587 characters)

I prefer bock when it comes to Mexican beers (especially Indio) but Montejo is my favorite lager / pilsner they have south of the border. It's 6% alc. makes it harder as a session beer down here but it's so much better than Corona or even Dos Equis, hopefully they will start exporting it. Try it if you have a chance and enjoy! (328 characters)

Reviewed from notes - had this beer while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a glass.

Apperance - Straw yellow (what else?) with just a film of head. Lots of visible carbonation.

Smell - There's a bit of corn, but nothing else. Very unimpressive.

Taste - I get smacked on the front of my palate with a strong corn taste which isn't all that pleasing. There's almost nothing else to this beer - 95% of the taste is on the front end and the rest is like water.

Mouthfeel - Like carbonated water.

Overall - Ugh. Avoid if at all possible. (574 characters)

Meh?

I was in Chicago for a week, and every evening on the way back to the hotel I'd stop by some convenience stores and see what beer they had. I'd get a slice of pizza and a six-pack and head back to the hotel.

I saw this. I like to try new things so I grabbed a can. I wasn't interested in drinking the greatest new craft beer. I just wanted something light to go with the pizza before it was sleepy time. This did the trick. It's not heavy. It's almost like Corona Light. It's got the light golden color, barely any aroma and a taste of cheap beer. I'm not going to write a song about it, but it was okay and did the trick. (638 characters)

Poured from a 1.2 liter bottle into a regular glass cup.

A: Light golden yellow color with a bubbly head that dissipates extremely quickly.
S: Strong corn aroma with alcohol and maltiness.
T: Slightly metallic with a peculiar bitter ending.
M: Light bodied with high carbonation.
D: While easy to drink, it is not too enjoyable. I can see this being refreshing on a hot summer day. Nothing special about this beer. (416 characters)

This beer is often offered at places were food from Yucatan is served.

It is a refreshing beer, yellow color, with a little bit of bitterness.

It has a very light body and smells very tiny.

Excellent for hot days, and with some Cochinita and Pan de Cazón. (265 characters)

I'm seriously surprised by this beer. Strong, crisp mouthfeel. No skunkyness that one might associate with a typical Mexican beer. In fact, this beer is totally atypical when compared to other Mexican brews. I'm a huge fan of sessionable pilsners and this one is distinctive and absolutely drinkable. A solid beer all around. (325 characters)

Stumbled across this a couple times while in Mexico during a cruise.

Drank straight from the bottle on the streets in Cozumel, so the formalities of appereance, color, smell, etc were somewhat lost in the surroundings.

But bottom line, I had to search out & reached for this quite a few more times than the solidly available Coronas. (336 characters)
