Realistically this is Chupacabra piss.. Everyone knows that.. So there is no need to go through a normal(A,S,T,M,O) review.. But c'mon on a hot summer day an ice cold Corona with a lime wedge reminds me of a simpler time of chasing booty at a pool party.. So for that I have a soft spot in my heart.. Thanks for the memories Corona

Shit I can't believe I've missed reviewing Corona! In my (obviously misspent) youth I would have gladly sucked down a dozen of these as my "summer beer", indeed with the addition of a lime wedge it was the only refreshing Lager you could get in Australia that didn't contain the awful Pride of Ringwood hops that CUB, Tooheys and the rest are fond of using, so it comes as little surprise that I called this my "summer beer". However today with our market now saturated with all manner of imported Lagers there is a decent amount to choose from. Will the Corona still be my "summer beer" after this review?
Disclaimer: No lemons/limes were harmed in the making of this review.
Poured from a 355ml (US imported Corona) bottle into a Stange.
A: Has a distinct clear piss yellow body - as I was fond of saying "same colour going in as going out" with a 1 inch white head that holds up fairly well.
S: The aroma isn't pleasant, no doubt the lemon/lime wedge is meant to cover it up, corn husks, vegetal matter (cabbage) and white bread. The vegetal matter, or "skunk" as it is widely known is common in beers with clear glass bottles due to a chemical reaction from the beer being light struck. It is also something that is considered a desirable quality by some brewers (Corona included is my understanding).
T: The taste is a bit more noticeable without the lemon/lime wedge, which is not good. There are notes of: corn, funky stale bread, vegetal matter with a dry finish. Drunk cold enough and this could be considered refreshing on a hot day, however once it warms (like most Lagers) those skunky characters make this a really bad choice.
M: Body is mid to light, slightly watery with a light carbonation - one of the better characteristics of this beer.
D: Again on a hot day served ice cold the flavour profile flattens out and makes this an OK drop - there is some light sourness at play and the dry finish gives it that "let's have another" sheen. Adding the lemon/lime was a master-stroke marketing move and whoever came up with that should have been laughing all the way to the bank because the acidic citrus notes (this beer is lacking) really make this a good summer beer - on its own though it is a bit of an average-at-best Lager.
Food match: Anything with lime - so yeah, Mexican food works best.
