ABV: 4.60 %

Reviewed 10/20/08 @ home, bottle>pilsner glass
A 1.5 - pale straw in color, little to no head at all
S 2.0 - semi skunky smell, minor hop notes
T 3.5 - crisp/clean taste on palate, almost citrus-y in taste on light malt base
MF 3.0 - high carbonation, very thin body but interesting, slick finish
D 3.0 - I actually dig the high carbo & citrus hints in this brew.

12 Ounce clear bottle

Appearance: Light yellow color with little carbonation and little head

Smell: Hard to pick up on anything

Taste: Lacking any real taste but what is there is slightly sweet but almost bready tasting. There is very little bitterness at all until it starts to warm up but even then it is not a good bitter.

Comments: Not really an off taste until it warms up and then it is not good to drink at all. Refreshing while still cold without a lime it is plain but with a lime it is not too bad (I know fruit shouldn't be added but trying it with and without is a good idea)

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass

The color is a very light yellow, clear, with a tiny white head that does not sustain long.

The smell is a very little grain smell but not very much there.

The taste was light some grain and a little floral hops.

This beers has it's place but it's usually with a lime and some salt and being sipped on a beach somewhere. Not strong, it's real good on a hot day or a BBQ.

Appearance-- A clear Golden yellow with carbonation up the glass to an almost non existent head.

Smell-- Not to much really, slight grainy hops,

Taste- Very light bodied beer with slight grains and hops, nothing really blows you away in the flavor. Its just a very light in flavor and bodied beer,

Mouthfeel- Light and heavily carbonated

Drinkability- The only thing about this beer thats expected to be decent at all is the drinkability as you can drink it just as good as you could any water you would get from the tap. Gotta be a beer you have ice cold in the summer at the beach or something. Nothing stellar here and if looking for a light beer even Id still go else where.

A terrible beer by comparison

the smell taste and look of the beer are pretty bland, so it basically makes for a watered down soda with a small amount of alcohol in it.

On a hot summer day or just on a regular night while watching a fight or a game this can be an extremely good beer to just kick back and hammer. Dont have to worry about tasting notes/savoring. I can drink 12 of these in one night with no problem...minus the stumbling

I intentionally waited this long to review this beer because I've been told that it's actually decent on draft. Well...after finally having it on draft in Mexico, I can put that myth to rest.
Appears a transparent light gold with a thin white head that quickly fizzles away into a mild collar. A few spots are left.
Smell is of lemon and flaked maize. Even the lager yeast seems to be dulled down in the draft version. If there are hops in here, they are extremely mild.
Taste...it is what it is. Crispy cereal with bubbles.
Mouthfeel is spritzy, light bodied, easy to drink, lemony & semi-dry in the finish.

I normally would not go out of my way to drink this, but I was at a party, there wasn't anything else and I didn't bring any beer and I felt naked without a beer in my had. Of course the person in charge of the party says to me, 'I bought the good stuff' as he handed me a Corona with a Lime in it. Needless to say, I didn't stay too long. I can't say anything about this that hasn't been said before - it is light in appearance, smell and taste. Good thing the Lime was in there to add some pleasant aromas on tastes.

Pours a clear golden straw color with a fizzy white head. It surprisingly leaves a little lacing.

Smells of husky grains and light, floral hops.

Taste follows the smell, light grain flavor and even lighter floral hop bitterness. Light on the palate and very refreshing.

Despite the bad rap this south of the border brew gets, its still my favorite macro and definitely has its time and place. I usually drink it straight from the bottle and yes *gasp*, I use a lime. Yummy.

*sigh*... I'm really quite surprised at the consistent D's and F's this beer receives. Compared to others in its class, I don't really think it deserves them. I tried to rate it fairly here, and compare it to other beers in its class. Let's be honest.... it's not a great beer, but in it's class, it certainly rates better than some of the other american macros. I remember once upon a time thinking that all beers were like macro lagers, and someone suggested that I try Corona. I was actually pleasantly surprised... comparatively speaking. I won't buy it now, and if someone handed me one, I would sip it to be polite, but I probably wouldn't finish it. But compared to say... Bud or Coors, it's definitely better.

God bless my Latino friends for having what seems like about 80 bottles of this in their refrigerator. Without them, I would not be able to try this beer again. Actually that should probably be a federal offense...on with the show.

Pours a very pale golden color with a thin white head that fades to an extremely thin ring very quickly.

No lime in this one! Just that classic Corona skunk and smells of corn syrup and other adjunct aromas.

Taste is mildly sweet with corn, other grains, and this really great skunky profile. I didn't drainpour it, I just drank it extremely cold and extremely fast.

Lots of carbonation and it leaves this strange bite on the back of the tongue.

Let's just say if this were to go above 40°F, I think you'd have to get rid of it immediately. But hey if its a hot day and you can polish this off in under 2-3 minutes then mission accomplished I suppose. And yeah, forget about a glass, just do the lime thing and go straight out the bottle. I can't imagine why people pay for this stuff...it's basically just overpriced, imported Budweiser. If prices were equal, I'd probably choose this over Bud but is that honestly saying much?

Poured from a 12oz can into a pint glass.

Appearance/Smell - Appears pale yellow with very high carbonation, little head reduces quickly to a sudsy ring & leaves no lacing. Smells of sweet tart grapes and a pungent citrus aroma. Kind of artificial, and a little weird. A little earthyness & some skunk, some corn, some stale biscuit like malt.

Taste/Mouthfeel - Tastes mostly of pungent citrus flavors, along with some biscuit like malt. The aftertaste is of this stale rubber glove like bitterness (Unpleasant!) Kind of clean, and not much flavor overall. Not much change as it warms. Mouthfeel is filled with very lively carbonation on the palate. Just kind of bitey, lite-medium bodied.

Drinkability/Final thoughts - While this beer is very drinkable, it's not filled with allot of flavor at all, and the flavor it does have consists of this weird artificial citrus flavors and a rubber glove like bitterness on the finish. Ugh! Not very good at all, and not recommended. Sure you could throw a lime wedge in there to make it taste a little better, but just knowing the way it tastes without it is a big turnoff. Save your money.

I prefer Bud over this lager and many many others.

I'll try to do this. Without slamming I can say easily one of the worst beers in the world. Hardly a beer and the most overrated beer by far.

appearance: light yellow, to basically clear, even more clear than others

smell: slight hops to almost zero smell

taste: Little to none, clear refresher

mouthfeel: very high carbonation

drinkability: very easy. only good for long hot days.

Dispite it's overall poor rating, I actually really like this beer and is one of the beers I buy the most in the middle of summer and really never purchase this in the fall or winter.

It is the kind of beer I really love with a wedge of lime stuck in the bottle through the opening, and without the lime I actually don't really like it.

It is very light colored, with a unique smell and flavour, and is very refeshing (with the lime) on a hot summers day.

Bottom line:
Drink this ice cold with a wedge of lime on a hot summer day and its awesome. Without the lime and in the middle of winter, it's just not very nice.

My friend Tyson quipped that the reason that the mouth of the bottle is usually adorned with a lime is to cover up the overwhelming skunk flavor. It's as if someone took a dead, rotting skunk on the side of an Alabama highway and twisted out the fluids, bottled it and sold it for like $10 a six-pack. Why the hell does it have a clear bottle? It's been known since the late 1700's to put perishable liquids in dark bottles.

Pouring it out into a clear glass the head was gone in less than one minute. The color was a clear light-yellow. Nothing special.

The smell? Skunk. Mildy sweet, but it didn't seem as if it was barley.

Taste? Skunk. Choking the skunk down was so difficult that dumped most of it down the drain. Skunking aside, the grains aren't anything special, I think they cut it with corn native to Mexico.

Mouthfeel was light and nothing special.

Drinkability? I had to dump it down the drain! That should say it all!

Why bother with this? I have no idea why it is so popular.

A - Golden colored, looks great.

S - Smells different than most beers, but I love the smell.

T - One of the best tasting beers. A little grainy, but very yummy. Especially with a big fat lime in it.

M - Average mouthfeel. Good carbonation.

D - Very drinkable. I could drink these all night.

I don't understand why pop culture has let us believe that this is good beer. I remembering being younger and seeing in movies, hearing music, and other places, that Corona was great beer. What??? Really!!?? It tastes like its been left in a steel drum for months. When I drink a Corona all I can taste is metal...and the piss coming through. There are some many better Mexican beers out there, do yourself a favor and stay far away from Corona.

Appearance is everything with this one. Old English script screened onto the classic longneck bottle. the key to all this is the addition of the lime poking halfway out the mouth. now under most circumstances, this is totally unexceptable but, with this one, its absolutely necessary considering the mediocre taste of the brew just by itself. not much of a smell to speak of.

even though its mediocre at best, its drinkability is high, based on the ABV and taste, after the lime.

great "session" beer, especially if you are just planning on relaxing outside on a warm summer evening.

You know what, despite the fact that the beer doesn't have an exceptional taste it still is a good kickback beer. Better than light beers, it is refreshing and crisp. It doesn't hold a candle to most other beers, but as far as good beers to just relax with, it is really nice. No bad smell, no bad taste, I just think of the bad guy from El Mariachi, smile, and drink.

Pours clear gold with a one finger foamy white head most of which is down to a ring of foam within three minutes. Some minor lacings. Aroma is malts with some herbal hops.
Taste is mild malt sweetness with a fair amount of hop or hop extract leaving a bitterness in the back and center of the tongue. Reminds me of many european pilsners though a bit light on the hops. Finish is slightly dry. Thanks to the 4.6%abv it is quite sessionable. Mouthfeel is slightly thin. Very similar to many American macros but this has a bit more hops. Good beer with food and it won't fill you up.

Appearance - Gold, high carbonation, 1 finger of head which reduced.

Smell - Almost non-existent.

Taste - "Restrained" is the first word that comes to mind when I taste this. The usual lager tastes are present, but very weak.

Mouthfeel - Pretty similar to mineral water.

Drinkability - It goes down easily, but then again, so does water. Far too boring to session.

Overall - For the love of God, stop importing this crap. There are plenty of equally crap beers brewed in your country (unless you are unlucky enough to live in a country with little beer production).

Pours pale clear golden yellow with a thick soapy head that utterly dissipates within one minute.

Aroma is adjunct corn sweetness. A strong vegetable presence. Hints of lemon grass.

Taste follows suit with the aroma. Once again a strong vegetable presence dominates. Cloyingly sweet with an odd tinny finish.

Mouthfeel is light and thin.

A very light, tasteless beer.

Poured a dull yellow with almost no fizzy white head.

The smell is terrible, super skunky and awful. The nose is so bad I'm having trouble bringing the glass up to my mouth for a drink.

The taste is nothing but bad skunky beer.

What can one say about this beer? It doesn't have an offensive taste or a good taste to start. It's an ugly looking color which makes me wonder why they have it in a clear bottle. It has a bitter skunk buildup that leaves a nasty aftertaste if you continue to drink it. Smell is bleh, mouthfeel nothing special. All and all, life is too short to waste on this kind of lager which there is far to much of in the world today. I wouldn't have even drank it except my aunt sent it along with some other stuff she gave us from her bar. I've had seltzer water with a more pleasant and strong taste.

What can you say about this classic summertime drink... Obviously this won't win over any beer purists or those who actually enjoy the taste of a good beer, but it does have its place on a hot day with a slice of lime. Not a good beer, but a very good drink on a hot day...preferably in Mexico.
