Clear bottle marketed to be drunk from the bottle, in the bright Caribbean beach sun, whilst adding fruit to the beer. Does any part of that sound like an attribute of a great beer?

Poured into a pint glass, the pour makes this appear flat, I couldn't conjure up a head no matter how hard I tried. Great clarity, super pale hay color. No lace. No surprise.

The aroma is the crisp acidic aroma I remember from my early drinking days. Mild skunking has taken hold - though I imagine this is entirely the fault of the brewers and bottle color. Very faint graininess.

The flavor is not as bad as I was preparing myself for. Creamed corn, white wheat, and bitter skunkiness pervades.

Slick mouthfeel, with a light body and lower carbonation than I feel is normal (or should be) for this beer.

Overall exactly what you'd expect. And frankly, this beer is much better WITH the lime, sadly. No surprise.

A: Pale yellow with an infinite number of bubbles feeding a frothy white head. There's a little lacing.

S: Corn and grain with a whisper of apple. A little mineral with some grass.

T: Grainy and watery with some corn. An absence of bitterness. Very bland with a metallic note and a little green apple.

M: Light body with high carbonation.

Overall: Very bland but not particularly offensive. One of the better light adjunct lagers I've had. Too insipid to hate.

Crikey, this was the only thing left at a street fest. MMkkay

Well, it's clear. Some yellow-ish-ness. No head after a quick burst.

Cream corn and stale corn husk aroma. A lime is most needed, but I'm a purist...

Lime is very much needed. Eghads. Cream corn w/o the cream or the corn. Sulfur something. but still, non of these flavors are all that strong, so can't give it below 2

Bad beer. Lime needed

just an unacceptable brew by almost every count. i say almost because on cinco de mayo at 10:30 in the morning on a mild hangover when its 90 degrees out and its the only beer at the party, its tolerable in small doses. clear bottle shows watery less than yellow, some chemically white bubbles. smells like corn syrup, preservative, and dead beer. ugh. flavor isnt actually awful in the context of these adjunct light bogus semibrews. bit of malt, balanced. very light on the mouthfeel and sodapop carbonation. definitely refreshing, but it tastes so much worse than even some of the lowliest craft offerings. overall it would take a near miracle to get me to drink one of these again. with corona extra being one of the lightest beers out, who needs this even weaker version? yikes

Reviewing this in the context of other light beers. Hence the score.

Nice light golden color in transparent bottle. Looks great half buried in crushed ice, backlit by the blazing hot sun.

Much less of the skunky smell than regular Corona. A good amount of carbonation. With a bit of lime, the taste is clean from start to finish.

I like to have six of these waiting in the cooler after a few hours of yard work in the summer. Great thirst quenching beer. The only light beer I will drink.

12oz Can at Surrender nightclub at the Wynn/Encore las vegas

Appearance - Clear pale yellow colour with a small size fizzy white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation and there isn't much lacing. The head lasted for only a minute before it was gone.

Smell - Bread, grains, corn syrup

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste corn syrup, grains and a bit of skunk. There really isn't a whole lot of taste going on.. extremely light beer.

Overall - Pretty much what I was expecting.. very close to water. Probably a decent choice if you're trying to drink 24 in one sitting while on the beach.

From notes.
Tall thin can of 355 ml, ABV 4.3%.
I had this at the airport in Cancun just before I leave. Bright yellow colour with lots of bubbles in the glass and a one finger head that quickly went off leaving light lacing on the surface. Sweet aroma of limes and a bitter-ish taste that leaves a corn aftertaste. Watery mouthfeel, almost too much actually. Light carbonation. Not a significant difference on taste than the normal Corona

Beers are like guns - some are for showing off and taking out once in awhile, those beers are judged, made with the best ingredients, are finely tuned...and some cost a pretty penny.

Corona Light is your everyday carry beer - its the beer you keep in the fridge for a refreshing beer after work, or on the weekend. It doesn't cost a whole lot, at present time - about $1 each.

I enjoy this beer a lot. I love fancy beers, but this beer is excellent considering the bottle reads that it only has:

99 Calories
4.1 ABV - I've seen 4.5 elsewhere

Other beers for twice the calories are twice as good, but they're not twice the alcohol

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a large snifter glass at Woodmore Country Club.

A: Pours a very clear golden hue with a thin 1-finger white head that quickly dissipates into a wispy lace.

S: Mild grains and corn aroma. Thin nose – a little skunky.

T: Not much flavor here. Typical lager flavor of grains and mild hops.

M: Thin body and minimal carbonation.

O: This is not a good beer – barely any taste or aroma.

A: Perfectly clear, extremely pale straw pour. Small white head that fades to nothing very quickly. No lacing.

S: Corn and a little bread. Metallic? *boggle*

T: A touch of weak corn with a big metallic taste that lingers forever. Tastes like it was aged with pennies.

M: Basically pure water.

O: Pretty terrible "beer", it displays no real beer characteristics. Just weak adjuncts and odd metallic flavor and smell. Only upside is that it's so weak you could probably drink about 50 of them if you felt like it.

One of four tap options at the resort we stayed at in Huatulco, Mexico...

A - Pours a insanely pale straw colour, traces of head and no lacing.

S - Very mild, musty cardboard, sweet corn, apple juice, grainy malts.

T - Certainly lighter than Corona on the flavour profile, sweet corn, musty cardboard and apple juice are all that seem to come through.

M - Thinner bodied lager, smooth and wet.

O - It's tough to imagine a beer that's lighter on the flavour front than Corona Extra, but this certainly achieves that feat. If you're looking for something that's mildy more flavoured than water, then this is your optimal choice.

Poured into a pint glass without tilting it to get as much head on it as possible. For five seconds it had a finger of head. It looked nice with a clear straw color. However, within 30 seconds (I timed it) the head was nil.

A mild (MILD) malty smell. The metallic smell dominates.

Tastes like water but with a bad aftertaste. No beer flavor notes to speak of. If I licked a sheet of metal, that would accurately describe the latter part of the flavor profile.

Mouthfeel fits the style but not as crisp. Lots of bubbles, too much for me. Light body.

There are many parts of the world were I would drink this over the local water supply, but if there is a different beer I would go with the latter.

This beer has more going for it on looks than taste. I like Mexican beers but this one is nothing to do back flips over.
Nevertheless this beer is a good one to drink on the beach with a wedge of lime.
Pours a light yellow with almost no head.
Has a light and domestic taste.

Appearance: a clear golden yellow with a white head that fades and leaves no lacing

Tastes: a crisp super light beer that drinks easy like water with a little taste of skunked American lager.

Overall: Basically a watery version of their mainstream Corona extra if you want a good mexican beer you can pass on this one. Not even a lime will make this one better. Get tequilla.

355ml bottle poured into a pils glass.

Reflective gold in color with rather small and short life white head, no lacing left once dissipated. The carbonation is high and fizzy.

Cap was removed then the skunkiness appears. Pour into a glass, sulfur, some skunk, slight metallic, corn, dry grain and husk.

Severe kick of grain is majority. Blend with very light sweetness upon the first sip, some bitterness and harsh astringent smacks expose through palate upon the middle sip until the end.

The body is light and crisp with medium to high carbonation, finish is very dry.

Just a lesson to learn and I thought one time is just enough.

Greetings from Mexico! I swear that I am relaxing. However, I thought that while I am here, I would review some of the local brews I had access to, so…

Reviewing Corona Extra and Corona Light side by side! Both are brewed by Grupo Modelo S.A. de C.V., the same people who brew Modelo and Pacifico.
Corona Extra Score: 15
Corona Light Score: 35

My Corona Extra (left) was a tap pour served in a plastic cup. My Corona Light (right) came from a can, served in what looks like a pilsner glass of sort. Do not ask why one is in a plastic cup because there is no rhyme or reason behind it.

Appearance (Corona Extra): Pours a pretty transparent yellow, honey-brown color – almost cider like – with just under a half finger of frothy white head that dissipates into a lacing atop the beer. Come to think of it, this beer looks more like vitamin-heavy urine. Average lacing. 1.5/5

Appearance (Corona Light): Pours a much brighter yellow color than the Corona Extra, almost like a pinot (white wine). Thin layer of bubbly white head on pour that quickly settles into nothing. Below average lacing. 1/5

Smell (Corona Extra): Limes, corn and a little grain. A little “skunky” funk to the hops aroma. Has a light, acidic “white wine” aroma. 1/5

Smell (Corona Light): Still getting lime, but no real “skunky” hops funk. Perhaps because there is less of a skunked hops funk, I am also detecting more of the “white wine” aroma that I detected in the Corona Extra. Lighter corn/grains smell. Very flat. 1.5/5

Taste (Corona Extra): OK. If the aroma did not give this away, this beer is skunked. That seems a little odd, since it came from a keg…Besides the signature “Heineken flavor” (pre-skunked beer), I am also detecting a little lime and a lot of corn. The corn is a little malty. Also getting some stainless steel flavor. 1/5

Taste (Corona Light): Very crisp lime and corn flavor. Refreshing. No real linger, and a much subtler stainless steel flavor. 1.5/5

Mouthfeel (Corona Extra): Light bodied, low-medium carbonation. Honestly surprised by how little carbonation there is. Finish is pungent and acidic. 1/5

Mouthfeel (Corona Light): Light bodied, high-medium carbonation. Slightly bitter and acidic finish. 1/5

Overall: There is a reason the Bloody Mary is my drink of choice on vacation. Maybe a bad keg biased my Corona Extra experience, but this is my only Corona Extra experience and it was pretty unbearable. I wanted to drain pour it, but I do not think that you can do that in a pool. The Corona Light was a serious step up, but that’s not saying much. I really cannot say that I will ever drink either beer again. Ever. Seriously. I’d honestly rather drink a Keystone Light. USA! USA! USA!

Recommendations: Do not drink this stuff. It is objectively less “tasty” than Miller Lite. Casual beer drinkers should be ashamed.

Pairings: Lime wedge.

Cost: $12.99 for a 12 pack of either.

I had this FROM A CLEAR BOTTLE! into a shaker pint. Here's hoping for something less than dreadful.

Appearance- It pours like water. There was not even a hint of fizz or foam on the pour. The beer is so pale. And I am really surprised the carbonation is so poor.

Smell- Welp, this one did not survive the light exposure. A moment of silence for our fallen amigo...

Okay, besides the horrible, awful skunk, there were some other, equally off-putting flavors. There was the hint of band-aid, street tar, and musty corn? It really is terrible, and I am not sure it would be any better fresh.

Taste- Skunk is right there with the corn husk. And the skunk just keeps on building through the drink. I am pretty sure I would still score this terribly without the skunk.

Mouth feel- This beer is watery. And over-carbonated, which may, in fact, be an improvement over a creamy version of this beer. That would be wholly undrinkable.

Overall- The beer as a whole package is dreadful. It smells like skunk, and even if it didn't, there would only be corn. And I am not sure the flavors of the beer would be any better. Obviously this beer should be avoided at all cost, unless you are looking for the tick.

Drank straight out of the bottle, don't want to ruin my glassware.

Pale golden color. Easily seen without pouring due to the magic of clear bottles!

Smells like skunky bread water.

Tastes like skunky bread water.

Mouthfeel is OK, I mean it's carbonated and thankfully very, very cold.

Overall: One of the worst beers. Waste of calories...even as a light beer. Usually when a beer requires a strong citrus flavor to make it palatable you're only really tasting the fruit anyways

Poured into pilsener glass, had it about a year ago but wrote down my thoughts.

Appearance: Very clear yellow, some carbonation bubbles and a very weak head. No lacing.

Smell: It is very faint and very dry, but it can be detected. I am not very good at analyzing the characteristics of such a light beers aroma so I will stay away from any specific ingredients. I will say however that there is no hop aroma at all, and perhaps the main characteristics are a blend of over processed flavors from the malt.

Taste: Also very dry like the aroma, but more about the beer can be picked up in the taste. Although it is more noticeable, I will refrain from stating any individual ingredients I sense still, they are very well blended together. I am quite amazed how much this does not taste like beer, there is very little in the way of detectable features that would suggest that it is.

Mouthfeel: It is well carbonated, and that does a pretty good job of masking and flavors that are there. After a few of these, it is almost like drinking carbonated water.

Overall: This is not a beer, I refuse to acknowledge this being classified as a beer. That is not to say that it does not have an appeal, I can see why it is so popular. There is nothing off putting about its taste, and it is quite refreshing on a hot day, especially with a lime wedge. But after really analyzing the taste, I can not acknowledge this beverage being a beer, it has less than the bear essentials for being classified as such. Therefore I refuse to give it anything above the minimum score.

A- Thin fizzy head on an extremely clean medium pale body. Leaves a ring around the collar but that's it as far as head retention. No lacing.

S- What's there of the smell is kind of off-putting.

T- Not much of a flavor...pale malts, a touch of bright citrus, corn? Hops are where? Clean aftertaste, perhaps the best aspect of this beer.

M- Highly carbonated. Medium to medium-thin mouthfeel.

D/O- Below average thirst quencher/get hammered beer. "Nasty" compared to what I like to drink, yes, but nothing that is so gross that you need to pour out the bulk of, which I've done with others. Easy tick of the #1 "Bottom of the List" beer....here's to never having this beer again :p

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. No stamped date.

Appearance - Takes an extremely vigorous pour to get even a one finger head; white with low retention and zero stick. Ultra pale clear gold body.

Smell - Skunk. The faintest of corn malt.

Taste - Some acidity. Semi-dry. Faint stale wet cardboard. Mostly water; but that which is noticable is generally offensive.

Mouthfeel - Watery. You have to swish to to get any vestige of carbonation.

Overall Drinkability - Water with a few drops of stale coffee dripped into it, filtered with old cardboard. Just imagine what Budweiser would taste like if it was diluted with 3 parts water. Had to squeeze in an orange wedge just to finish it.

M: light body, huge bubbly mouth

O: Got this as a goof at a restaurant, just to see
how much difference a regular Corona w/lime

This a very weak/watered down light beer.
There are plenty of much better light beers

Review #700.

Some friends of mine, who don't know crap about craft beer, gifted these to me at a Halloween party that I recently hosted. The beer we had that night: Flying Dog: The Fear (a case!), Port City Optimal Wit, Duck Rabitt Milk Stout, Victory Headwaters PA, Great Lakes Octoberfest, and Hacker-Phorr Octoberfest. Despite all of that yummy goodness, people drank more Corona Lights that night than all the others. I'm depressed...

Drank right out of the bottle...for the first time in ages!

A: Clear yellow piss with a few bubbles lurking throughout, but nothing to write home about.

S: Not much of a smell, but what was there smelled a bit like gasoline.

T: My imaginary cash register ring up on this beer would come up like this: "House beer...$1 even." Pretty blah, thin stuff, with a mild sweet breadiness on the end.

M: Kinda spritzy and with no lingering whatsoever. I can see how non-beer types dig this.

O: TIP: I added about 5 lime slices to the bottle and my rating instantaneously jumped up to a "B." Wait a minute... isn't that just straight up lime juice? I friggin love lime juice!

Appearance: Pours a very pale, clear straw color. Lots of carbonation initially, dwindles to low carbonation in about 20 seconds, oddly. About 3/4" white head forms that has poor retention and no lacing.

Smell: Corn, extremely small noble hop character, a bit of skunkiness. Not unexpected, but not real good.

Taste: Adjuncts are apparent, with maybe a hint of pale malt, and a very small amount of noble hops. Do not get as much skunk on the palate, which is nice.

Mouthfeel/Overall: Mouthfeel is extremely light and watery with prickly carbonation. Not real smooth going down. Overall, what I expected. At least it was not skunked to the level of some I have had in the past. In an reasonably normal state (sans skunkiness), this beer is not as bad as most would make it out to be. Still, it is certainly not good, or even decent.

I had never had this and decided it was tine. Drank from bottle during Happy Hour on Taco Tuesday at Mi Pueblo. Never again. I took a sip and nearly gagged. I gave it to my friend who doesn't care about craft beer. He took a sip and he nearly gagged as well. two sips and then left the bottle.
