Served from a brown glass bomber into an 8 ounce sampler. No freshness date. I didn't put any fruit in there, but I'll bet alot of people put a wedge of lime in the bottle neck. A fairly aggressive pour produces absolutely no head at all, with an infinitesimal islet of lace reinforced by a pathetic queue of bubbles. The color is a very pale yellowish with perhaps a tinge of red.
I can definitely smell corn mash in the aroma, which isn't necessarily bad, in my opinion. Also, a kiss of hops. The taste is mildly sweet, with a touch of bitterness on the tongue, and a mild skunkiness. Not too bad, but nothing to gush over. The mouthfeel is thin and watery- it could really use some carbonation.
Overall, I would say this is neither the worst and certainly not the best beer of its type. I purchased a bomber of this for $2.69, so I can't complain too much. In my opinion, these light lagers from the Latin American regions should have their own classification aside from "AAL", since many of them are deliberately skunked. I was relieved that this one was only a bit skunked- perhaps because of the brown bottle.
