33cl brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a Hard Rock Cafe Hefeweizen glass in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live.
A: Pours a four finger head of slight cream, fair thickness, and good retention. Colour is a clear yellow with lots of carbonation. It's appealing.
Sm: Lime citrus ester hops, light malt, and clean barley. A moderate strength scent in which the lime is dominant. Note that it's not artifical lime like Dos Equis; it's real lime. At least in scent...
T: Lime on front and through the first half. A clean barley body hides underneath, with a well handled malt climax and a clean finish. It's simple, but that's what they're going for. It refreshes. It's well built as a tropical "in the sun" beer and it's quite balanced. I quite fancy it.
Mf: Smooth and wet, just as it should be. Complements the general tone and direction of the beer, as well as the style.
Dr: This is a Mexican import meant as a tropical beach beer, and it works brilliantly in that aim. Note the brown glass bottle; Corona uses clear glass and Heineken green. They're not skimping. The lime is tastefully done. The price is right and it's very refreshing. The drinkability is simply amazing, though the alcohol content is only 4.8%. Give her a spin, lads.
