One of the few beers my aunt will actually drink and popular with people in my age group (I'm 21 years old at this typing), I found a discounted single bottle at Vendome waiting to be taken home. I just want to see what the fuss is all about with this beer, and ironically, won't be consumed at my house, but my cousin's house which I'm housesitting for the weekend. It's been unusually warm here in SoCal recently, and after building a thirst from work, found an appropriate time to consume Pacifico. On to the beer:

Poured into a glass, the color looks appetizing, but the head does not. It has faint smells of corn husks and a small dose of malts. The taste? Uhhh, fudge it, I'm thirsty. Husky, husky, husky. This beer's role is to quench your thirst, not your taste buds. So maybe now i see why this beer's popularity is growing fast; assuming the beer is cold, you can drink it like water without many flavors getting in the way.

Pours a light yellow color, nice carbonation, small white head, with some sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, with some hops, slight caramel. The taste is slightly sweet, malty, slight hop note. Light body. Not drinkable, would not buy again.

Poured from a 12 oz glass into a clean shaker glass. Yellowish with a head that fizzes away.

Smells of light skunk hop and corn.

Taste follows the nose. Scant euro hopping and a bit of malt with some corny influences. Grainy n Gritty, but it is on par with the style.

Mouthfeel is easy to drink light bodied light beer.

Drinkability is alright. Refreshing and easy to pound away when needed. Cheers Amigos...

Pacifico Clara is as yellow as the can it comes in but, it goes without saying, is of course much more transparent. In fact, it has the same level of crystalline clarity as those famous white sand, clearwater Mexican beaches. It's not quite as spectacular, mind you, and given the total lack of head I'd say it looks not only ordinary, but even a little sub-par.

The aroma has perilously little character to it, and what few features it does have are not good. The diluted, adjunct-infested beer hits the nostrils like heavily chlorinated pool water - not what you'd call 'offensive' but distinctly chemically altered. Its cereal sweetness has some of the sugars and dryness of a white wine, none of the flavour though.

Like all popular Mexican brands, Pacifico is thin and insipid, designed for maximum refreshment (and maximum appeal). Apart from a cereal, corn-tinged graininess, it doesn't lay claim to much flavour at all. While this makes it more approachable to the masses, it also makes it a very boring, worthless beer to anyone with even moderately discerning tastes.

I think it's important when traveling to fully experience every shred of native culture you can, and that beer can be an excellent medium through which to do this. Ironically, however, national brands like Pacifico don't shed light on any culture, except that of mass industrialization and commercialization, which actually oppose distinct culture.

I've always felt that even in the most scorching heatwave I'd want a drink that is refreshing *because* of its flavour, rather than for its lack there of. Most people feel the opposite, which explains why such a bland, watery beer as Pacifico Clara can become so popular. If you're alright consuming dollar store quality products, good for you. I'll pass.

Had not ever seen this on tap before, and so made the mistake of ordering a glass at SFO (instead of anchor steam, which I clearly should have gotten).

The beer pours a fairly bright gold color with minimal head and no lacing. While the beer isn't as nasty looking as bud lite, it's in the running for worst looking beer ever. The nose is nearly as unimpressive, as I get light honey, canned corn and something of a seltzer water aroma (never a good sign). The flavor profile is a bit better, but not by much. There's a hint of bitterness in the finish, that helps to buoy the crappy sweet corn flavor. Otherwise, this beer is pretty watery, and I quickly start to get that gassy, slightly bloated feeling I so often experience in a glass of macro swill. Mouthfeel is very light, though there's no real off flavors, thankfully. As for drinkability, is there alcohol in this crap?

For some reason I have something of a nostalgic feeling for this beer, having drunk quite a few bottles of it in Mazatlan many years ago. However, my glass at the airport has cured that feeling forever, and I'm pretty sure I won't be ordering this swill ever again.

This a very poor beer...

A: Poured a clear pale gold color, with a thin, sudsy white head with almost no carbonation.

S: faint fresh corn aroma, a light dry grassiness and hay scents.

T: The flavor starts out with a slight sweet corn malting which turns dry with a light herbal hopping and some hay. Overall the flavor was bland, dry, and nothing to write home about.

M: light, watery, boring and bland.

D: light, watery, boring and bland. Don't feel cheated if this is draino'd, 10 minutes of drinking this in no way justifies the money wasted, call it a flush and move on.

Another big shoutout to my best pal biegaman for hooking us up with another Mexican gem, Pacifico Clara!

Pours a straw yellow, crystal clear, thin white head, some lace spots, settles to a thin layer. Smell is sweet, corny, citrus, kind of odd. Taste is similar, sweet and corny, some citrus, somewhat nasty, very weak. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Another stellar beer courtesy of Jan, thanks man!!

A faint golden pour, medium carbonation bubbles racing to the top. A rather thin head emerged then ran away. An off centered malt smell to it. A bit of stale floral hops and old socks.
Taste followed the malt, but barely. Actually the taste is rather tasteless. Just leaves a sticky stale aftertaste. However, it's rather unstructured form did drink like water. It went down easy, as long as I didn't think about it.

Poured from the bottle into a pilsner Libbey glass. Happy Cino de Mayo! or uh maybe? Boy it's been ages since I had one of these.

Pretty much a basic looking lager. A real bright white soapy head, fairly large with a little bit of retention to it, settling down in time to about a finger, but easily three fingers tall. Body color is a deep brass yellow, crystal clear, even a hint of brown chestnut color to it also.

It's that adjunct nose. A bit of corn, there's even a good amount of skunking going on here for a brown bottle. How long was that single sitting in the cooler huh? Cryptic bottle dating on neck, even another websites decipering makes no sense. Some slight sweetness, nothing too syrup, but its not ideal.

Surprisingly skunky quality doesn't hit so much in the palate, but boy it's weak. Surprisingly didn't think this would be that wet, but it's quite flat. Virtually still water and no carbonation. Hints of watery malt and adjunct grain/corn finish. Lots of sweetness on the, and a sort of toothpaste like herbal finish.

Boy this is nothing like I remember it, this is just plain friggin weird. Took one hit for the team, there goes my $2.50, but I am a better man now that I know.

A: Pours a straw/yellow color with a foamy white head that is gone in not time with no lacing left behind.

S: Lots of grain and some corn. A little bit of toasty bread and some light grassy notes.

T: Similar to the aroma with lots of grain and some corn. A little bit of lemon and lemon zest and hints of grass.

M: Light bodied with a good bit of carbonation, but crisp and pretty refreshing.

O: Not awful, but nothing great. A refreshing beer that I will grab out at the dive bar in Mexico.

Scored this down in Tijuana. Quart size bottle, neat little whale on the label. Kinda went downhill after that.

Yellow beer. No head lace, wasn't even all that clear despite seemingly being 98% water. Smell was industrial, light corn. Taste was similar. Mouthfeel, just really like those flavored waters, not as sweet. Easy enough to drink, goes decent enough with the chicken/dog tacos.

Had this one with dinner at my favorite mexican restaurant in N. Raleigh, Torero's.

Drank from the bottle. Not my style, but glasses are hard to come by at this place.

Nothing to offer in terms of appearance. From what little I could smell, it smelled slightly metallic, fruity, and sweet. Taste is corn-like and sweet, a little lemony, and there's a slight metallic off-flavor to the bitter finish. Mouthfeel is light and very carbonated. Quite refreshing and drinkable.

This one isn't bad when viewed in respect to other Mexican beers.

Poured into flared Pilsner glass. Poured a clean, clear gold with no head. The aroma was on the sweet side of typical. Nice grains and just a trace of gentle hops. The taste was fairly average as well, grainy and sweet. No noticeable yeast or hops. The body was also typical for the style, perhaps a touch fuller than most. Drinkability was good for the style. If your gonna have a light brew around, this would be an OK choice.

I’m not sure why I torture my taste buds with this kind of beer, knowing I don’t like them, but here it goes anyway.

Beer pours a translucent bright gold and the head modest in size, brilliantly white with the lace thin sheets clinging to the glass. Malt nose, crisp and clean, front is malt, the top cadaverous, finish astringent, hops AWOL, dry aftertaste, drinkable, but leaves me “Lost In Space”, Danger Will Robinson, contagion in a bottle.

Pours a clear, yellow color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Poor retention and poor lacing. Smells of adjunct and yeast, but mostly lacking. Fits the style of an American Adjunct Lager. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of adjunct and slight yeast characteristics, but mostly water. Overall, not very much flavor at all.

12 oz bottle served in pint glass.

Pours a light golden with a 1 finger white foamy head that quickly reduces to a thin coat then a thin ring.

Aroma of grains, more like corn than malt. Unpleasant component too.

T – follows aroma although the unpleasant odor had no corresponding taste.

M - thin and unremarkable.

O - best I can say is better than no beer ... at least sometimes.

Pours a straw gold color with a one-finger head that quickly fades, leaving sparse carbonation.

Aroma is sweet and grainy with a hint of corn in the nose. Surprisingly, doesn't seem skunked in aroma.

Taste is smooth and a bit watery with grainy malt, corn and just a bit of sweetness. Seems quite bland. Inoffensive.

Not much for a mouthfeel here. Just slightly lingering corn and grain. Quite like drinking water.

I expected worse but this is really quite average. It's hardly a beer but it excels at being average.
