Clean crisp and light. Not your typical light beer in that it's cleanliness taste is not muddled by sweetness.

12 ounce bottle

Pours light caramel, clear under a thin and vanishing off white head, that leaves no lacing.

Just a hint of malt on the nose.

Thin and on the watery side, with just some faint caramel, and sweet malt. Would be passable on a warm day or if I was actually in mexico eating some tacos with hot sauce. Besides that stay away.

The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma is grain and grass with not too much else going on. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of grain and grass, with some very sweet malt in there as well. Medium carbonation and medium mouthfeel. Extremely simple, but actually not too bad. Better than expected.

Dark gold to light brown in color with wonderful clarity. Just a trace of white head covers about a third of the top. Aroma is predominantly corn but there is also light malt. The taste is similar to Pacifico with corn being dominant. There's a coppery hop bitterness at the very back of the palate that is prevalent in the fade. The mouth is lightly carbonated. Another warm weather quaffer from Mexico.

This looks like an Amber (red ale, if you prefer), a clear dark beer the color of which lies right on the border between orange and red. The head is a somewhat wispy foam that holds up a thin layer on top and drops down a modicum of splotchy lace.
Grainy all the way through, the aroma begins with a startling smack of something sharp. It's extremely unpleasant, and it's fortunate that it doesn't last long. Otherwise, it's got the vegetal and corn husk notes typical of an AAL, certainly not a Vienna.
The taste is better, and it manages to resemble something like beer. Some pale malts and a little grass come through with the husk and the malts even add some breads.
The light body is expected, but the grainy astringency mars it. It finishes a little warmer than expected with a bit of a bit, though crispness isn't especially sharp.
It may be a BA misclassification, but if this is out there in the same market as Negro Modelo, and they're going to claim the same style, this one might as well not even be out there at all. Negro isn't great beer, but it's respectable, as opposed to this beer.

A: Pours a clear, very light amber color. A small head formed but lasted only a few seconds.

S: Not much on the aroma, a little off putting skunkiness and slightly metallic.

T: Not much going on here, slight malt/caramel presence, but barely. There just isn't much to this beer at all.

M/D: Extremely thin, some carbonation.

Super high carbonation makes this really crisp, but the body is more watery than water itself. This is a really thin beer. One of the worst Mexican beers I have had. If you want something in this style in Mexico grab a Bohemia or a Negra Modelo.

Appearance - Pours a clear, beautiful pure golden amber with a white, finger width head. Retention is subpar, leaving behind a razor thin, somewhat sticky lace.

Smell - Lightly toasted grains, grassy and with hints of honey.

Taste - Follows the nose. Lightly toasted grain malt, followed up with a decent grassy hop and a hint of honey that develops about mid-taste and rides out to the finish. Light, crisp and clean.

Mouthfeel - Light in body with a nice, aggressive carbonation kick. Tingles the lips and nibbles at the tongue. Goes down smooth and quite drinkable.

Overall - One of the better beers to come out of Mexico. It's not a lager that'll blow anyone's socks off, but the flavors are fine and it's got a great mouthfeel. This one doesn't need the "lime" treatment.

Pours an amber color with a clear body.. got about a 1 n half finger head.. tight white bubbles.. settles to a thin film.

S: light breast notes.. sweet malts pull through.. maybe a tinge of earthiness.. also some faint cooked corn.. very faint aroma but not offensive..

T: sweet malts & bready notes upfront.. some cooked corn on the mid palate .. finish is earthy with a slight bitterness to wash it all down.. not bad .

Mf: thin bodied with a crisp feel...

O: very drinkable & not a bad brew.. needs some tacos to go with it..

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a generic Pils glass.

Brilliantly clear dark orange/copper body with a thin yet lasting off-white yead. Delicate even lacing, no legs.

Clean lager aroma with very faint toastiness.

Pleasing malty palate entry with delicate toasted flavors and very light melanoidins. Use of adjuncts becomes more obvious mid-palate as the desired complexity fails to arrive and is instead replaced by a light mineral-water flavor. Finishes slightly dry and malty with next to no hop presence.

Light bodied, crisp, with zesty carbonation.

Rather watered-down, though clean and straight-forward. Not bad, though rather boring compared to what the style could be...

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 3 | overall: 4

Appearance: Not a lot of foam or lacing and it gets kinda flat. However I do really like the color. It's a solid golden with a brownish rosy tint.

Smell: Pretty average smell. Lots of malt and hint of hops. A bit metallic.

Taste/Mouthfeel: This tastes a lot like malt liquor, but definitely feels thinner. I'm not really sure what to make of the taste. Sometimes it tastes biscuity and a bit peppery, other times it's more sour and stale. I'm gonna give this an average rating. Mouthfeel is also hit or miss: sometimes nice and creamy, other times thin and watery.

Drinkability: Nothing gross and it goes well with food.

Overall: Definitely worth a shot.

Picked up a 940mL bottle for the beach for about 15 pesos. Not bad for beer that doesnt suck. Like most of the big mexican lagers, this is fairly mellow in flavor. Its got a decent aroma of caramel and barley. The flavor is pretty similar, but not as strong and a little sweeter and fruitier. Not a bad choice for a vacation.

Tulip glass, a finger of head on a clear, medium straw colored body.
The aroma is metallic and light grain. Not great.
The taste is metallic with a touch of honey. Not great.
The texture is crisp with a bit of softness. Moderate carbonation.
I'm trying to figure out in what situation I would enjoy this beer...

Pours with a decent white head, settling over clear deep gold gently carbonated liquid. The nose is nothing more than light maltiness. The taste as well is very light, with notes of brief grassy malt before drying out with a nice amount of hop bitterness. A slightly above average Mexican lager.

Aroma- Has a toasted grain aroma.
Appearance- The beer is an amber color with a small white head.
Taste- Has a basic grainy flavor, just average.
Palate- A light bodied beer with moderate carbonation that has a dry finish.
Overall- An average beer that should be paired with food.

Poured into a shaker pint. Pours a darker color than expected. Almost looks like an amber. Very clear. Ring white head. No lacing.

Aroma is almost not there. Slight amber lager aroma but you really need to take a good wif.

Taste is the same. It really doesn't taste like anything. Bit of bitterness in the finish. Slight pils lager taste.

Mouthfeel is dry with higher carb

Overall a very plain beer. Probably won't buy again

Poured into a pint glass from a 12 oz. brown long neck bottle. Golden caramel in color with a thin cap of foam which offers moderate retention and light lacing.

Bit of a corny aroma at first, somewhat reminiscent of a Corona. This firms up a bit with some air, offering light grainy notes. Quite light and subtle overall and without any toasted notes.

Lightly sweet in flavor with some watery caramel notes. Bit thin in the middle and with a bit of Vienna maltiness on the finish. Feel is decent but in keeping with the light approach to the style. Decent drink given its lack of complexity. Tastes like a Corona with some added specialty malts, though not enough to give it any real character.

Poured a nice clear orange/amber with a very thin white head.

The smell is very grainy and slightly sweet with a bit of grassy Euro hops.

Very sweet and with a light grainy malt flavor, the hops are buried under the sweet grain and corn flavors. The flavors are very thin, nothing off putting but so watery.

The mouthfeel is light and thin.

One of the better mexican beers I have had, which still doesn't make it great.

A - poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Dark amber color with a one finger head that had good retention.

S - nice malt notes present up front, a little bit of grain was there, too.

T - the taste pretty much followed the nose, but not as strong. The taste is fairly bland with nothing stepping up and making a statement.

M - not much carbonation, not much aftertaste, not much there...period.

O - I picked this up when I was last in Dallas. I'm going back soon. I won't be bringing this beer back with me.

Pours to a thin white head and light amber color. Aroma is mildly grainy and malty with a whiff of hops. Flavor is mild and grainy and reminiscent of corona and negra modelo. Mouthfeel is decent. Overall, a good Mexican Vienna that makes for a good summer session.

Clear amber beer with med head. Scent and flavor are similar with caramel and syrup notes. Weighty mouthfeel because it is heavier on the malt than the hops, but not cloyingly so. Overal a tasty beer. Kind of like a Mexican Shiner. Ask for this if you were thinking about Modelo Negro, it's a good alternative and one that isn't found many places.
