Poured into a pilsner.

A: Brown or copper with a reddish hue. Heavy carbonation pours into a 1 finger, greyish white, foamy head. Quickly dissipates, however, leaving a scant smattering of foam on the surface. Carbonation continues to rise. Nice spider web lacing remains.

S: Roasted malt, yeast, slight hint of citrus.

T: Roasted coffee malt, subtle hop, milk chocolate touch.

M: You can really feel the carbonation. Does have a hearty feel though. The malt is definitely the most prominent aspect of this brew, but a subtle hop follows and maintains. Finishes a bit dry.

D: Very good. Nice flavor and feel.

Nice atmosphere, good flavor, and a decent feel. Not complex, but tasty. Does feature really good drinkability. Good quaff.

This is a fine beer with tacos. Its a semi-transparent blackish-brown, almost the color of Coca-Cola. In fact, a guy with me at the restaurant though I had a mixed drink, not a beer. Malt is very dominant in the flavor profile with slight sweetness. Hop bitterness and flavor are really undetectable. It has a thin body with enough carbonation to keep it interesting. Probably best ice cold and in large quantity.

Was drinking margaritas at Tampicos in Santa Cruz, when I noticed they had NM on tap. I'd never seen this beer on draft before, and so of course I had to grab a glass.

The beer pours a reddish mahogany color, with fair head retention and minimal lacing. The nose is not bad at all in this beer (at least for a Mexican lager), as I picked up some cherry, sweet malt, light vanilla and even a hint of smoke. The flavor profile replicated the nose, with some light spritzy, bitterness in the finish. The beer is a bit watery (naturally), and so the dominating, sweet malt flavor wasn't too overpowering. Mouthfeel was light to medium bodied, with a clean, lightly sweet, spritzy finish. The beer was very drinkable and easy to appreciate, and would make a great accompaniment for most of the food items on the menu at Tampicos.

Not too bad at all... this beer reminded me very much of AB's American Ale, though it was bit less sweet and a bit more interesting to drink.

Probably my favorite of the major Mexican beers. Pours a dark brown with a little red and a nice head on top. Slight molasses smell but not much else.

The taste is molasses and slightly malty with a little bitterness in the aftertaste.

It is a simple, smooth beer. Easy to drink and great at a ballgame with the chips and salsa. More character than your normal, watered down cerveza.
