Well, I can't say I'm impressed by this place as a beer establishment. Their pizza was really good, but they don't seem to know much of anything about the beer they're serving. Their sign boasts 110 brews, but I struggled to find one on tap that I would actually like. Mostly macros and the run-of-the-mill imports that you can find in any grocery store. Once I had found something I liked the first time I was there, it was served to me in a chilled glass!! I had to ask for a non-chilled glass, and the waitress had no idea what I was talking about. I finally got everything right, and the food was very good, but I still wasn't very satisfied. I would have preferred a cleaner place to eat as well. I admit I'm probably spoiled since my usual watering hole is Papago Brewing Co., and I do expect a lot out of a place that is at least partially based around serving beer. In any case, if you do visit this place, don't expect to be impressed with the selection, and remember to ask for a non-chilled glass.

This location has been like 5-6 different eateries over the last 15 years. OC established themselves here and have stuck around for quite a while now. They have a decent tap selection when you look at sheer numbers. However, they do carry an awful lot of macro. I would think they would need one fall back for macro lovers, and dedicate the rest of their space to real beers. I have never seen anything special or rare here.
Their food is actually above-average, especially their pizza and they have a pretty decent happy hour appetizer special.
One thing, some beers taste dirty, like their tap lines are dirty. With so many beers coming in and out of here, I wonder how often those tap lines are cleaned.

Stopped in because I was told they have 110 beers to choose from and its about 5 min away from my apartment. Draft has Moose Drool, New Belgium, Sierra Nevada, and mostly macros. The bottle selection seems to be better. There are some goodies in there with DFH 90 min, Arrogant Bastard, Chimay, and a few others I dont remember. If you sign up and drink 110 different brews I believe you get a t-shirt and a plaque on the wall, also it does accrue points towards money off your bill which is pretty cool. Food is OK. The deep-dish pizzas are good, but some of the other food is hit or miss. Pretty good prices especially happy hour. Its a nice spot if your in the area, but definately not worth a drive.

Da Boss and i have been in Old Chicago many times since it is essentially in our neighborhood and it is pretty easy to be seated on a weekend night (Which is a product of the location on Bell Road and not necessarily the quality of the place).
The atmosphere has gotten better since the no smoking ban went into effect. This is your typical restaurant/bar that does not have anything out of the ordinary going for it except it does offer 110 beers. Quality is good as the food and beer are a better than your typical Bell Road restaurant. Service is average as the wait staff is not knowlegable on the speciality (Chalkboard) beers that I like to try but they are friendly. Selection is good. You are not going to find anything exotic here but they do have a wide array of beers that you are not going to find in most restaurants. Food is good. Da Boss and I have found all food we have tried to be enjoyable and we are especially fond of the deep dish Chicago style pizza. Prices are fairly reasonable, especially during happy hour. This is a good place to go to on the Northwest side of the Greater Phoenix area especially if you are out on a weekend night in which there is a significant wait at the popular Bell Road establishments.

Some of the worst service I've ever experienced in Arizona - long delays, a bartender who serves you a beer and then disappears for a good 15 minutes or so, and lots of attitude for no reason. To make things worse, this place suffers from some sort of sewer-leakage smell. Maybe it's not their fault or it's from the outside but it comes and goes, and I refuse to go here with friends and co-workers now. It's over the top. They don't clean their tap lines very well. You'll be amazed at how many beers taste like the previous one in the same line, and it's the worst for the ex-orange hefe-weizen line. They replaced that with Trumer Pils once and it was literally an orange pils, but they refused to acknowledge the problem.
Old Chicago is first and foremost a pizza place and you'll notice this right away from the atmosphere. For most patrons the emphasis is on having pizza with a few beers and then going home. The beer selection is slanted for that crowd as well - you can choose among many domestic macros, canadian macros, and domestic sleeper macros like blue moon wit and red hook. They offer a handful of specialty beers like arrogant bastard, however they are all in bottle only and aren't always in stock even though the menu lists them.
You can still find a few quality micros on tap, such as Widmer, Alaskan, New Belgium, etc. however most (but not all) of these are found throughout the Phoenix bars that don't claim to have a beer lover focus.
So, if you're accustomed to the Toronado, the Map Room, Monk's, or even the local Papago then you will find Old Chicago disappointing. However if you're primarily looking for decent pizza with a little bonus then you'll be surprised.
Food is average. Typical restaurant/pub fried appetizers aren't bad. Given there are so many superb pizza places in Phoenix it makes Old C's pizza look a bit below par. Nothing special about it, and after living in the Chicago area for several years I can say with some authority that Old C's pizza isn't quite Chicago style.

spotted this by accident, and remember seeing it in beerfly, so we decided to give it a whirl. large place, nice decor, and not smokey at all. spent some time going over their selections, and finally decided upon a delirium tremens and a vegan pizza. i got the beer in the bottle, and nothing else. no glass! i asked the server for a glass, and she forgot to bring it around, and when i reminded her, she came back with a giant heavy-walled mug that had frost all over it. i had to let it sit and warm up and then dry it off with my napkin before i could even pour the delirium tremens in it. the pizza was ok. wasn't bad, but i can't believe the frozen mug for DT. won't be going back again, that is for sure.
