Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: kbub6f on 12-16-2001

It's chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. A malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spice added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops.

A - Two fingers worth of rich tan colored fluffy head... The color is a medium caramel brown... Brisk carbonation throughout... Warm and inviting...

S - Semi sweet throughout... Toffee... Caramel... Brown sugar... Some roasted barley... Warm and inviting...

T - Caramel... Toffee... Some dark malts shine through... A bit nutty... Some faint buttery notes as well...

M - Medium boded... A bit dense... Ultra smooth... Sleek... Light carbonation dances on the tongue... A bit of lushness...

D - This is a very nice high quality American Brown Ale... An excellent representation of the style... Lots of good things going on in all facets... Highly sessionable and impressively quaffable... If I had access to this on a regular basis, this would be a solid go-to standby in my beer fridge on a rather regular basis...

This beer pours out a rich, ruby-red color, extremely good clarity. Nice head of foam, initially, then it reduces down to a relatively thin layer which leaves good rings of foam lace down the glass.

Aroma is rich with cocoa and vanilla. There is a mellow undertone of roasted malts and a light tinge of earthy and woody hops.

Nicely done nut and dark malt taste characteristics. There is a slight husk astringency. Light yet lingering bitterness on the tongue at the finish.

Slightly buttery and rich light-to-medium body. Smooth and clean with a tinge of malt sweetness softening things.

All in all, a pretty good brown ale. Rich enough in character, mellow enough in its drinkability to lend itself easily to knocking back several in a sitting.
