I had a a Belgian Strong Dark Ale (BSDA) the other day at the local tap house and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Therefore, I was intent on trying a couple more. In comes Nostradamus.
The beer poured a ruby brown that was pretty clear. About a finger thick of very light tan head that subsided to a thin lacing. The smell is sweet like grapes and cherries, maybe plums. A nice yeast hint.
The taste did not disappoint with a nice sweet taste like plums and grapes. Hints of Belgian spices and brown sugar. A nice moderate body with no carbonation, but hints of the high ABV poking through like a strong wine.
Overall, this is a very good beer that would go nice with a full dinner. I recommend it to people who like Belgian ales and slightly sweet brews.
