This poured out as a golden color with a white head on top. the smell of the beer was sweet with fresh grains and maybe a little honey on the nose too. The taste of the beer was pretty good, again mostly sweet grains and malts. The mouthfeel of the beer was pretty well carbonated, it has a lighter body to it and is pretty refreshing. Overall this beer was decent I thought. Nothing overly special here just a drinkable brew.

I picked this up at Al's of Hampden as part of a mix-a-six, poured chilled into a double walled tumbler allowed to gradually increased in temp.

The color is darker golden almost orange hued with translucent clarity and head that collapses rapidly even though poured vigorously. The head returns momentarily when swirled and bead is fine, no lace collects. The smell is very creamy and almost bready but kind of butterscotch too with a diacetyl odor I can't get past. The maibock has a relatively high yeast ester with mild alcohol. The feel is smooth and sweet with a slight diacetyl tinge and mild toasted texture with sweet chewy and mildly alcoholic yet semi-dry as it finished.

The taste is not too bad, it lacks a little complexity and there is a mild buttery aspect that I don't enjoy, it seems out of place, mild hop spice and slight grainy flavor with yeast presence in the taste. The malt is pretty one-note and the sweetness level is high in the taste which is almost caramel tinged with a moderately high alcohol flavor as it finishes. I think this is pretty ho-hum, it fits the style enough to be average, but is pretty much a let down in general. I would not go for this again but I have had worse beers and it hides the 10% somewhat. I think the problem is I prefer a lager that comes off a bit 'cleaner' as flavors that ferment out. It seems like this didn't finish and is underattenuated.

Appearance- brown with thin white lacing murky, low carbonation

Smell- very nice malty sweet nose, rum, raisin, very nice sweet nose

Taste- very nice and malty up front, there is slight spice in the end but not much that keeps it in check from being to sweet, good balance this beer, enjoyable though touch sweet

Mouthfeel- pretty heavy to full bodied,

Drinkablity/overall- overall i did enjoy drinking this beer, enjoyable flavor a bit sweet for sessioning and a bit heavy aswell, its actually very unique and not what I expected for the style but actually pretty good and nice value for 8.99 6 pack

Very delicious. I managed to try this on tap over the summer at a Brewer's Pizza in town. Just went browsing a few days ago at a new (to me) beer store and found a lone 12 oz. single on the shelf and had to try it again.

A: Deep clear nutty crimson color on the pour. Not much head, but what there was of it, clings very nicely with slight lacing. Good halo'ing.

S: Malt sweetness, with a biscuity freshly mowed lawn scent.

T: Wonderful, juicy with plum, liquorice, chocolate, raspberry and caramel notes. Alcohol is well balanced. Some kick from the hops in the middle with a wet juicy kiss of a finish.

M: Wild, wet and wonderful. Mild sting from alcohol esters blends well with the rest of the mix, leaving a wet finish. Micro-carbonation and smooth drinking.

D: I love this beer. It's right up there with a lot of big juicier Belgians for me. Pair with Italian, wings, or anything that isn't delicate.

A - deep amber color, thin bit of cream colored foamy head
S - mostly sweet malts and some alcohol, a touch of honey
T - sweet, very bready malts...theres a lot of flavor and at the same time it's subtle, hard to describe. A little grassiness in there maybe.
M - nectar-like, semi-thick and sticky with a tiny tingle of carbonation
D - I'd have another...an all-around good maibock. Nothing amazing or surprising, but definitely good.
