Poured a medium straw hue with a one and a half finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a solid soft grain and a healthy dose of noble hop.

The taste was upfront doughy with a mild grainy sweetness. Secondary flavors of spicy hop soon developed.

The mouthfeel was clean and dry.

Overall an easy drinking pils. Certainly not the best, but pretty good.

appearance; typical straw yellow, some head, not much lace.

smell; hoppy but also an unique sweetness, balances pretty nice, perhaps a bit floral as well.

taste; nothing special, but still quite decent, fresh and crisp bitterness with a quick tart taste as it first hits the mouth but then mellows out to slightly sweet. A little different from other Pils but nice.

mouthfeel; loose and watery with nice carbonation, very crisp and fresh.

drinkability; very light and drinkable, nothing really offensive about this beer and it makes a decent Pilsner to drink up with friends.

Purchased in a local Netto grocery store in Dresden, Germany. One of several pilsners available in SE Germany, it is probably better than the average Pils. A little more expensive here in Dresden than the local Radeberger (expected), but overall a very good example of a quality pilsner. No complaints here.

A: Pours clear golden without bubbles in the liquid. The medium-large white creamy head takes some time to dissipate, leaving some lacings.

S: Grain and dry malt. Bitter hops and faint citric notes.

T: Dough and grain together with bitter hops gives it a nice balance.

M: Aftertaste is long and holds nice bitterness. Body is medium as well as carbonation.

D: A nice well-balanced German Pilsener

Good alternative to Radeberger if you are visiting Dresden, Germany or in that area. Radeberger is definetely a good beer, but maybe overrated. Freiberger is a very good alternative (although Freiberg brewery is owned by Radeberger .....).

This beer is the local favorite of the People of Freiberg. It very nicely represents the German Pils style. Whenever my friend from Germany comes to visit, I always request for him to bring back some Freiberg. Light in color, crisp, very refreshing. More of a camaraderie beer for me than anything. If you are in the area I recommend taking the brewery tour (generous samples, pretzels).
