Served in a pint.

A: pours a hazy golden orange color with a short tan head which is coupled with medium amounts of lacing.

S: Smells of wheat, yeast, citrus peels, grass and grains

T: Light and crisp. Tastes of wheat, yeast, malts, citrus, grass, tinge of hops

M: Medium bodied beer with ample amounts of carbonation culminating in an excellent summer beer.

O: Overall, this Weisse is an excellent complement to the warmer weather. It is crisp, flavorful and balanced. It’s also fairly affordable, or at least if you buy it in bulk from Costco.

From bottle. Faint aroma of citrus and yeast. Pours a hazy golden with white head. Very mild sweet taste. Medium body, creamy texture, and average carbonation. Overall a nice refreshing brew.

Poured a burnt orange color with decent head that dissipated quickly. There was some limited lacing but did not really hold the glass. Outstanding smell, you get the sweet wheat plus some banana and citrus. Smells delicious. Taste was similar to smell but much more muted. Not very smooth. You get some carbonation but it is less than creamy. Kinda thin and fizzy. Overall a decent wheat beer that I would have no problem drinking but certainly not special.

A - Fairly attractive; a bright and full pumpkin orange color with a substantial head (2, maybe three fingers) at pour. Somewhat cloudy in appearance with a few carbonation bubbles ascending to the surface after the poor. Nothing especially outstanding but consistent.

S - surprising devoid of smells; outside the wheat odor, which is fairly good, very little else is apparent in comparison to other hefeweissen.

T - Solid taste, if not to a flaw. While the wheat and light fruit hints (banana and orange mainly) are smooth, their suitableness is at the sacrifice of any extensive intricacy in the beer. Some sips also bring a slight hint of cloves. Not an overly adventurous taste. That being said, this is an extremely fluid and smooth beer with no overt or pungent aftertaste, something which is common in lesser hefeweissen. Moreover, the taste remains consistent throughout the beer i.e., the first sip is as enjoyable as the last.

M - like the taste, there is nothing inherently wrong or unenjoyable about the mouthfeel; oily and soft with a slight tingle when it hits your lips. Not as carbonated as others have indicated but still there. Swallows delicately.

O - This is a very good beer, but as indicated, not an overly adventurous beer. That being said, it is an enjoyable beer which is great for beer novices and well-crafted in the basics. Compared to other German Hefeweissen it certainly stands in the upper 50% of the pack, but by no means is running away from the crowd.

This is a great example of what I tell people about German beers - it adheres to a style and thus is not distinguished.

This beer looks great in the glass. Yellow, haze, foam, lace. They are all there.

The aroma is somewhat missing. It is sweet but mildly so. The taste similarly is sweet, slightly yeasty and not very exciting. The aftertaste goes nowhere either - just sweet with a hint of tartness.

Overall, I like this brew, but it is an uninteresting example of the style.

Pint on tap at Beer Revolution in Calgary. A cloudy golden orange with a small amount of creamy beige head. Decent amount of lacing left on the glass.

Classic but muted banana and bubble gum aroma with less prominent clove and citrus/pineapple elements. Vaguely grassy and earthy.

Strong banana flavor that trumps the clove/allspice part of the equation. Pineapple. Some interesting dried strawberry notes. Light and smooth bodied, fizzy. Becomes more crisp and tangy over time, presumbly as the palate adapts to the initial sweetness. Finishes rather tart and grassy.

Fits the typical approach taken by most large German breweries of downplaying the clove-like phenols in favor of the more popular banana/fruit esters. Could use more body. Still quite a refreshing and pleasant brew.
