My favorite weizen beer...

A: Beautiful amber hazy color with a a good dense white head that slowly diminshes.

S: BANANA all over the place. Yeast of course, malts, citrus and a little spice.

T: Not sweet at all. Got a little fooled by the huge banana smell. Fresh citrus, litle banana an malts. Sweet bread.

M: Very pleasant carbonation. Fresh and smooth aftertaste.

D: Much too drinkable... I'm driving to Germany every month since this is our "house-beer". Love it!

A - a cloudy, yeasty orange/brown (almost a copper) with a surprising amount of carbonation bubble upon the pour. Really nice head which was almost a faint yellow; three fingers deep.

S - unfortunately, like many H-P beers, the aroma of the Sternweisse is not very strong. What is there is good; mostly a heavy wheat smell with a hint of citrus, but there is not much of it.

T- Very nice and even taste; has a nice hearty wheat taste to start with hints of banana and citrus, the center continues the flavor and evens it out and the end bears a little tinge of strong wheat flavor. As a Kellerbier, the cloudy quality gives it a nice yeasty accent which gives the flavor some substance and depth; very solid.

M - Very smooth; a little bubbly sensation with the first few sips subsides for a very even sip. Unlike regular weissbier, the naturtrueb subsidizes the sweet and fruity flavors with a nice yeasty overtone, making the sips a little less sticky and a little more full. A filling beer and quite satisfying.

O - The Sternweisse, for the more adventurous beer drinker, is a much better bet than your average Hefe - or dunkel; although this is not a complex beer per se, the flavors are well-balanced and the naturtrueb gives this beer a nice twist. Really nice late afternoon beer.

Appearance: Orangish, cloudy; huge head, long lasting

Aroma: Typical Bavarian wheat smell; banana, cloves; nice aroma

Taste: Creamy and juicy on start; light carbonation in mid ending in a well balanced spice flavor; thin in the end, but nice and refreshing

Remarks: Very drinkable and nice

Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Poured from a 500ml flip-top bottle into a dimpled pint mug.

Pours a dark, cloudy, orange colour, with a lively at first but quick to settle down head.

Smells pretty musky and fresh oddly.

Tastes like a classic hefeweizen, a very balanced smooth taste, with a sharp sweetness on the palate giving it a nice taste.

Overall a really nice hefeweizen, not bland like many can be.

Served from a swing-top bottle purchased in Switzerland.

A: Cloudy chestnut brown. Nice sticky lacing with fluffy head.

S: Banana bread, burnt sugar, faint earthy hop aroma.

T/M: Heavier on caramel malts for a hefe, brown sugar and cooked banana. Hefe yeasty flavors take the side show. Slightly unpleasant alcohol esters on the finish. Medium-bodied and normal carbonation (would like a bit more, but might have been the pour).

O: Not my favorite. Nice idea with a more flavorful and full-bodied hefe, but not executed as I'd like.
