Pours out bright gold and sits a radiant golden-amber in the glass with a large off-white head. Fades to a thin skim on the surface with few lacings around the glass. Solid gradients on all sides, pale yellows to reddish-amber.
Smells majorly toasted, huge hunks of pie crust topped with caramel. Gooey malts mingle with rich, green leafy hops. Standard O-fest aroma, well-pronounced.
Tastes mildly sweet up front, big malt bombs drop off payloads of toasted goodness. Light caramel flavors and bread crusts. Hops intrude, dousing the tongue with vibrant leafy flavors, bits of spiciness here and there. Finish is completely clean with lingering hop greenery.
Medium in body with milt to moderate carbonation, extra fine bubble. Easy handling, built for ein maß.
This beer has major game, as it should, and easily fits in the list of Oktoberfests one should consider to be standards for measuring all other beers in the style. Drink it (with great ease) and be merry.
