Bright tawny colour, the clarity is perfect. Great lacing with stickage almost all the way down the glass.
Smells fresh malt, sweet with a hint of caramel with in the highlight of toasted grain. All around clean with some light herbal hop also.
Lush and smooth mouth feel, crisp upfront and creamy in the back. Lots of fresh malt flavours bursting off the first sip. Trace hop flavour creeps in as the bitterness does a great job to balance the sweetness off. Waves of toasted grain, faint caramel and an alcohol warmth show that this brew has some depth. Finishes a bit sweet with a bitty toasted husk flavour.
This is one of the top Oktoberfest beers in my book, I get this by the case only though they have switched to sturdy 12oz long neck bottles. I guess for better shipping?

Presentation: 1 pint Euro-style brown bottle. Freshness on the front label.
Appearance: Clear and bright amber beer with a rather large foam head with decent retention. Carbonation bubbles are quite large.
Smell: Metallic, mineral, soft floral hops and toasted malts in the background.
Taste: Light-bodied, soft and smooth on the palate. Mildly malty with notes of caramel and loads of toasted malt flavour. Hops are also mild, with little bitterness and a flowery character that blends very complementary with the malt flavours to create a distinct tea-like flavour. Things go a bit bready as the beer warms. Then more metallic and mineral flavours fill in the gaps and fall into the finish, along with some malt and hop residuals.
Notes: This is Hacker-Pschorr's year round Oktoberfest offerning, not to be confused with their seasonal Oktoberfest-Märzen. It's a perfect Oktoberfest, brewed with enjoyment and a session of drinking in mind -- not strong and very drinkable.
