Half-liter tapered bottle is dated Feb '07. Typical H-P regalia. Pours an un-feisty, clear-as-day copper. Head takes constant coaxing and lace is light if present.
Smell is lots of honey and something akin to soymilk. Highly-worked german yeast rounds it off. More honey all around. Hopping is night unnoticable until just before the first sip . . .
Full body and more honey. Malt becomes clear and hopping just eeks out a presence. Slightly herbal in the middle, parsley and chives. Finish is dark German bread.
Mouthfeel is a bit sticky and cloying, and the texture just isn't there for me. Still, drinkable for a Marzen and would go down just fine by the half-gallon, thanks.
