At the end of the 19th century, Munich took great pleasure in two new beaming additions to the city; the golden Angel of Peace and the first lager beer specialty, Munich Gold. Still brewed by us to this day according to the age-old recipe, this slightly stronger beer is a mature masterpiece and delights with its enticing malty aroma and its slightly stronger original wort.

This is a very lovely brew with a tall pile of sticky foam on the crystal clear amber brew in the Kolsch glass. The aroma is fine— roasted malt with an herbal note. Sprightly mouthfeel with a thickish body. Very grainy taste and quite sweet. Hops seem to be faint, with a slight grassy taste. The persistent flavor of cornbread is not quite what I hope for in a stein. It's actually a gummy, candy taste with that hint of dull bitterness. Surprising flavors in an otherwise well-made beer. From the 500 ml can purchased on the West Coast.

I'm making this review as more of a note to self than anything - this is the particular flavour of bitter that I don't like. Not the most offensive I've ever tasted, but alas, this does not please the palette.

I had this on draft 8/15/23 @ Laschet's Inn.
See-through dull yellow appearance.
Big white head; minimal lacing remained.
Dry wheat & mild pine notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Corn & mild pine flavors.
Simple and drinkable...but not overly memorable.

From a half-liter can. Bright gold color with a modest head. Grainy malt aroma, very clean, with light floral hops. Very nice flavor: clean malt, bitterness a little higher than many helles, all extremely drinkable any day of the week. How have I never had this before? This is definitely one of the better helles we can get in the US.

Poured from a 11.2 oz. bottle, date unknown.
Look is a clear golden amber with a thin head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is bready and grainy, like a typical lager. Taste is light, clean, and crisp with light carbonation. Not bad, not great, but overall a good beer.

Pours to a gorgeous transparent golden color with a thick, frothy white head. Decent retention made up for by excellent lacing. Powerful grainy, bready, yeasty aromas with a signature Deutches Bier undertone of clean water. Taste brings a robust malt-forward profile with a light body and crisp, bready, thirst-quenching goodness. Hop presence serves merely to balance the flavor profile, but yields slight hints of lemon and pepper. Fantastic German beer that is totally worth the higher price point. Top 3 Helles lagers I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
