poured into a maredsous 8 goblet. very opaque, cloudy orange appearance under a solid white cap. smells like baked bread with spices (citrus and peppery), with some mild fruit notes. the taste is fairly aggressive on the spice compared to other hefeweizens im used to. has a solid yeast profile, and you mainly get clove and pepper right up front. i also notice some lemon-like bitter citrus, with a very subdued banana flavor. yeast and clove take over on the finish, which has a good "bite" to it, despite its mild carbonation. mouthfeel is nice, its medium bodied and smooth, right on for the style of course. i expected a little more malt and banana sweetness, but its really more about the spice, wheat and yeast than anything else. that it was different than anticipated i found refreshing, as was the whole drinking experience of this one.
