Appearance: Cloudy orange/golden with a rocky head that sticks around for a bit. Good looking brew, I must say.

Aroma: Bananas and cloves. Wheat also comes through, as it should. Still impressing me.

Taste: Banana and cloves, with a bit of lemon. Fruity in general. Pretty good, I'd say, but fairly indistinguishable from other hefeweizens. Nothing too special, even though its good.

Mouthfeel: Thin, carbonation is good...refreshing. Good on a hot day as it should be, but since its a wheat beer, its good on any day for me.

Drinkability: Pretty good, refreshing and light...good crisp carbonation.

Overall I'd take Franziskaner or Weihenstephaner, but that's just me. Those do more for me than this one, but I wouldn't avoid buying it/drinking it.

A= very cloudy nice faded-yellow, 2-finger head in a glass, some lacing.

S= grassy, banana, light florals

T= slight lemon banana, a bit dry compared to our preferred Paulaner but still outstanding and they compare like 2 alltime classics, Pepsi and Coca-Cola depending on one's preferences at the moment.

M= slightly dry but very clean, slight grassy banana on the tongue.

D= all you can stand

A 12 oz bottle. I used to only see this in 500 ml and the six pack of these makes a nice option. Sometimes you only want a little bit. A huge four finger head of tightly carbonated white foam rises up in my UFO glass. A dark gold liquid with the usual cloudiness from the yeast at the bottom of the bottle. Columns of bubbles vigorously streaming to the top of my glass. A few spots and streaks of lace on the sides, a foamy cover remains on top as I consume.

Fragrance is thick with banana and clove. Lemon and wheat malt are just as prominent. Grains and yeasty esters, sour apples as well. Not complicated but delicious.

Taste is lemony and tart with sour apples. The sharp wheat structure follows leading to a banana on the back of the palate and throat. Light cloves peek in and out and blend into a gentle hop bittering. Dry and clean with just a hint of crescent roll yumminess you want to savor befor the next swallow.

Mouthfeel is crisp and lively. Smooth and supple on the tongue. Carbonation scrubs the mouth and throat making this a very quenching brew.

Drinkability is excellent and lends itself to long sessions in the backyard grilling or just enjoying a warm day. Heck a cold day is nice with this one around and a yen for a good weiss.

A beer that I've been meaning to review for a long, long time. This Hefe pours a sunny golden yellow in my Sierra Nevada wheat beer glass. A solid amount of carbonation rises to a scant cap. Smell is yeasty banana. Some wet grass. Inviting. Taste is sweet clove with a hit of banana when swirled. Just enough hops to dry this beer up a bit. Tasty. Mouthfeel is outstanding. Smooth, yet dry. Highly drinkable. This is a solid Weiss.

Bottled on June 8th 2008, best before June 8th 2009.

Pours a murky orangish yellow in the weiss glass, lots of thick foamy head, good carbonation and a bit of lazy lacing that drizzles down back into the beer.

Aroma of bread, clove. Hints of pepper and banana. Flavor of bananabread esters and german wheat malt. Bread dough yeasty and dry finish.

Awesome ale, get it as fresh as possible.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. I've had this so many times without reviewing it, its good stuff. Poured into a proper Weiss glass.

Pours a cloudy amber/golden hue, very rich colour, big fluffy white head forms, slowly drops to a thick layer, some lacing on the glass. Smell is nice, honey, wheat, bananas, clove, yeast, bit of herbal/floral, bread, nice. Taste is similar, nice and malty up front, wheat, honey, bread, some yeast, banana, light tropical fruit, clove and spice finish, bit of tartness, goes down easy. Mouthfeel is light bodied with high carbonation, very refreshing and drinkable. A great easy to find weissbier.

>12 oz (didnt read what size) bottle poured into a pilsener glass.

Classic hazy weizen brew with foamy white head. Dark straw color. Aroma is classic and immediately recognizable, bananas and clove, fresh and lively.

Taste is right there with the best, the bananas restrained, the clove a spicy bite, crisp, elegant and refershing. Falls just short of the perfection that is Weihenstephaner, but one of the best German hefe-weizens I have enjoyed.

A - Hazy, straw colored. A good amount of carbonation and a very large head. Minor amounts of lacing.

S - The smell is wheaty and vaguely citrus. Not quite as large of a nose as its fellow Hefeweizen/Hefeweissbier Weihenstephaner. It does have its own character though; one which is very pleasing.

M - Crisp and refreshing. Leaves a wheaty aftertaste. It isn't too heavy or too light- its just right.

T - If one was to subtract most of the banana element from Weihenstephaner, leave the clove, add a little more wheat, reduce the carbonation, and reduce the sweetness, one would have Hacker-Pschorr. Truly, a smooth and great tasting Hefeweizen.

D - The drinkability factor is where Hacker excels. Due to reduced sweetness, this beer is more drinkable than Weihenstephaner. In fact, though I prefer the taste of Weienstephaner, if one was to enter the world of Hefeweizens for the first time I would recommend Hacker over Weihenstephaner because of its drinkability. Considering it retains more of a wheaty beer taste, it would be much easier for the non-Hefeweizen beer drinker to relate to.

500 ml bottle served in a weisbier glass.

Appearance: hazy orange with a layered head

Smell: oranges, banana, spicy

Taste: banana, refreshing, flowery

This one wasn't too bad. I had it at Tizley's Euro Pub in Poulsbo, WA. I have had a lot of of weisbiers and this one rates fairly high.

Looks like a summer sunrise in a bottle- yellow orange and cloudy. I poured this from a bottle into a weisse glass with some vigor, which produced about 1.5 fingers of head. Splotches of lacing remain on the glass as I sip.

Smells slightly funky, citric, and sweet.

Taste is similar to the smell, with a sour finish.

Mouthfeel is smooth, lingering, and full.

This is certainly a beer I could drink a number of. Hmmm... this, Franziskaner, Paulaner, or Weihenstephaner- hard to say.

enormous head, most meranguey i've had yet. orange tones.
inviting aroma of banana first, clove second.
more banana flavor than most others. fresh just-ripe bananas as opposed to banana bread (as with tucher).
fairly thin body, but as the glass empties seems to thicken a tad. pleasing mouthfeel even after the carbonation has mostly left the area.
an exceptionally well put together and vibrant hefe. even though it was brewed about 8 months ago, it's living character does not seem subdued at all.

A: Poured from a bottle to a weizen glass. Had a brownish-yellow color and a typically cloudy texture. Big, long-lasting head and a lots of lacing.

S: A nice, subtle aroma of wheat, bananas, and that bubblegum tinge you get with hefeweizens.

T: Well-balanced flavor with wheat, bananas, a bit of yeast and bubblegum. Never obnoxious or overpowering.

M: A solid amount of carbonation and a smooth finish. Full-bodied.

D: This is a very drinkable beer. It goes down smooth and has all the right components for a good hefeweizen.

Beautiful sunny color that's somewhat cloudy. Clove and banana ester fragrance convinces me that this is one of the greatest smelling beers I have ever had. Smooth through and through and goes down easily making you crave more. Tastes of fruit, especially some banana, with citrus after effect. A pleasant drink that is sweet and beautiful.

Pours a hazy dark orange color with a moderate sized off-white head. I just had the Paulaner the other day and this has several similarities (although I'd prefer the Paulaner). Sweet citrus aroma with a hint of banana and spices. Quite refreshing and very smooth. Very nice for a warm day. Flavor is a lot like others I've tried in the same category recently. Sweet (not too sweet though), with some vanilla, banana and citrus notes in there. All very well balanced.

Not as cloudy as most other unfiltered Hefeweizens I've tried, and a bit more hoppy than others, too. Lots of citrus in the nose, especially lemon and even a bit of soap. A good taste of malt as it goes down, and rather fizzy for my liking. Decent-- nothing spectacular, but all right.

T- just like it smells, but on the strong side. very nice.

D- a great beer for all things summer. very refreshing after a long day, or just enjoying with friends at a BBQ. well made example of this style.

The colour is warm deep orange-yellow with some beige notes, the liquid is hazy. The three finger off-white head sinks slowly down to an airy finger thick lid, leaving some lacing.

The inviting smell is clean, fresh and mildly sours with notes of green bananas, matured bananas, bakers yeast and wheat dough. Rich notes of minerals, wheat flour and a touch of sour wine gums.

The taste is not as sweet as many Hefeweissens are; it is dry and a little bitter with notes of green bananas, wheat dough, crisp minerals, fruit candy and an earthy flavour. The mild aftertaste is balanced with some sour, almost tart notes, hints of exotic fruits and a touch of dough/bread. Hints of apricots and cherries in the finish.

The carbonation is quite mild for a Weiss, giving more room for the balanced flavours. The liquid is smooth.

A very clean and highly balanced Hefe Weissen. And probably one of the most drinkable wheat beers I have reviewed!

Hacker- Pschorr Weisse looks like hefeweizen, with a pour that is yellow/orange in color with a cloudy body and a nose that offers scents of sweet malt, yeast, clove, some citrus, and banana. The foam level of this beer is average, but it does manage to hold a layer of bubbles throughout the drinking experience.

Hacker- Pschorr Weisse offers the flavors of wheat, citrus, banana, and yeast and there is all sorts of estery character. The wheat/barley mixture offers some biscuit- like flavor as well, with a finish that tingles, but never becomes very bitter.

Hacker- Pschorr Weisse is a wheat beer that has been around for a very long time, and it continues to rank as a classic or near- classic for its style. The tastes of grain, fruity, and yeast with a less- emphasized flavor of clove, make Hacker- Pschorr Weisse a memorable brew with a smooth flavor and very little bitterness.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall weizen glass.

Appears a cloudy dark goldish orange with a big three finger white head.

Aroma is dominantly banana and sweet wheat malt with a bit of spicy cloves in the back.

Flavor is very similar. Starts out sweet and bready then finishes with spicy notes and a very slight touch of hops.

Mouthfeel is light, smooth, and refreshing.

I picked up a twelve pack of this on a whim having never tried it because it was on sale for 12.99 and I am sure glad I did. This is one of the best Hefes I have had, very good flavor.

A: Dusky, hazy amber color. Poured up with a tremendous head that lasts for days after petering down to a 1/4" cap. Steady streams of carbonation from the bottom keep the head alive.
