Unmistakable fruity notes of caramel and honey are brought to life during the traditional maturing and storage. The beer is then bottled unfiltered. Just like a true Bavarian, our Kellerbier is not only reassuringly rustic, but also beautifully smooth, refreshing, and mild.

A=Nice dark, golden color; two finger head lasted over a minute.
S=Nice moderate aroma with decent hop aroma and a slight sweetness.
T=Nice hops flavor with a bit of bite...noticed a bit of aftertaste. A bit of sweetness as well with a hint of carbonation. Hint of citrus as well.
M=Nice...smooth and refreshing.
D=Very drinkable...the sweetness prohibits it from being a beer that you would chug, but would stand up well with a meal or by itself on a hot day.

Picked up a half liter swing top bottle for €1.29 dated 06.2024 at the local Edeka during the weekly food shopping. Normally wouldn’t buy a bottle from this brewery but was in the mood for a Kellerbier. Pours a cloudy golden orange. A bit sharp and boozy in the nose and flavor but enough roasted malt and slightly funky and fruity yeast to qualify as this style. Gets better as it warms up. Not bad for the price, certainly wouldn’t buy this in the US.

Drunk at the Hotel Am Klostergarten in Freising the night before I left Germany.
L: Golden yellow with a thin white head. There was no head, but I was in a hotel room and could not clean my glass properly after the previous beer.
S: Some fresh grain but otherwise neutral.
T: Grainy with a touch of overripe orchard fruit. Bitterness is low to medium. The finish is sweet.
M: Very thick, but also quite mild. Carbonation is minimal.
O: Quite a nice Kellerbier, and possibly the last such beer of my 2023 Germany trip. I'm not sure that I'm necessarily a fan of the style as I find the beers taste young and unfinished (which I think is the point!) and not what I want in a beer. Still trying to rate to style, though!
Cheers!

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a mostly transparent yellow/orange with a good amount of white head. The nose is really nice. Sweet candy, honey, orange, wheat, biscuits, and pale malts.
The taste is nice and sweet. Definitely some fruit coming through as well. Honey, peaches, apricots, orange, malts, caramel candy, and a hint of rhubarb. Super smooth and easy to drink. Mouthfeel is light and the aftertaste is relatively sweet.

The taste of this Kellerbier is outstanding. Beautiful cloudy pour, a great example of what a Kellerbier should be.

Pours cloudy orange with a bubbly smallish head that quickly recedes. The aroma is of crackers, rye bread and herbal hops. The taste is malty with pale malts up front. Estery yeast and woody noble hops in there too. Full bodied with light carbonation. Light bitterness in the bready, malty finish.
A nice Kellerbier. Maltcentric with less hops than is standard for the style, but worth a try.

500ml. bottle in Mae Kasa, Thailand. Pours a hazy yellowish with a frothy head. Aroma of malt and hops with a mild fruitiness. Rather subtle. Taste is better pronounced with fruity, malty sweetness. Mild carbonation and watery mouthfeel. Drinkable but not as vibrant as some other Kellerbiers.

Despite the stoneware mug, I poured from on high and can say this poured a slightly hazy golden yellow. Ample head that dissipates slowly. Lacing was apparent.
Light cereal. Floral notes. A hint of apple on the nose.
Taste follows. Cereal, light floral notes and an apple finish that rubs me the wrong way.
Medium body. Light carbonation.
This is a decent beer, but not one I’d be grabbing again from the German imports shelf. The apple notes I get are not my thing at all.

Wow. This is not your usual bland lager. I can’t say I surprised. I mean, it is brewed by Hacker-Pschorr after all. What impresses me immediately is the opaqueness. It looks like a Sumerian Ur-beer or something. The other thing that is immediately noticeable is the remarkable smoothness and moderate carbonation - love it! Kellerbier is nicely balanced; it isn’t too sweet and it isn’t too hoppy - it’s just right. The taste is fine, nothing incredible. Well done!
Note: from a 500ml can purchased from LCBO.

Big bottle from Despar supermarket in Ortisei, Italy poured into glass at mind-boggingly beautiful Saubach guest house. Dark gold, a tad of odd flavor but very crushable.

Can’t really understand the praise but perhaps that’s just me.
Finger head development. Appearance gets my highest rating. Opaque.
Smells sweet. Tastes rather bland. Sour dominates the front. Mild carbonation. Smooth but lacks body and aftertaste. Fades rather quick. Quite disappointing.
