Review from notes taken while on a visit to Rochester NY.

Appearance: 12oz bottle, no best by or bottling date. Pours brown with very minimal head. No lacing.

Smell: Sweet malts, apricots, and cherries.

Taste: Malts and coffee hints. The aftertaste is heavy with malt.

Mouthfeel: Carbonated, and thin mouthfeel. The mouth is left very clean, but there is a malty aftertaste.

Drinkability:A very drinkable beer, and I would love this beer as a session beer. A good tasting beer that is well balanced.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Nonic, served cool.

Hazy Amber with a tall, sandy, khaki head. nice lacing.

quite malty on the nose, like fresh bread.

nice mouthfeel; soft but nicely carbonated.

Sultanas, wheat bread, this is a malty beer with the hops maybe a tad underpowered, Slight bitterness at the end.

Thick and bready, nice looking, good tasting. Not bad but needs a little less malt and a little bit more hops..

Edit:After giving this beer a few more tries I am changing the ratings, goes great with any meal that I have tried it with, one of the only beers that I have found that I like to eat while I drink it. However I still do not care for the beer on it's own, but do like it better than I originally did.
If you don't like this beer on the first try, give it a couple of extra chances, try it with a meal.

A: Crystal clear copper brown. Bright white head about 2 fingers high that disappeared almost immediately.

S: Smelled like freshly milled caramel malt, no hop aroma that I noticed.

T: Tasted like I was chewing on a handful of caramel malt, then ended with bitterness that complimented the malt. However I didn't much care for this flavor.

M: Creamy, absolutely no astringency, bitterness lingers for a while after drinking.

O: Didn't really care for this beer, flavory was completely dominated by specialty grains.

Can't remember who I got this from, but it was definitely part of a BIF. 12oz bottle into a Fullers nonic.

A: Slightly hazy copper color, no real head to speak of forms, just a few bubbles. A few bubbles lazily move through the glass. A nice color though.

S: Big time malts, lots of caramel and honey, smells quite bready and even a bit biscuity. No real hops to speak of, lots and lots of grainy, caramel malts. A slightly fruity yeast ester as well.

T: Not nearly as sweet as I had anticipated, grainy and fairly malty with a few hints of caramel, earthy/woody hop profile with a fair amount of hop resins that linger on the tongue with a fair amount of bitterness. Pretty tasty stuff really.

M: A lot lighter than I had anticipated from the nose, light carbonation, and a dry finish with a lingering hoppy bitterness.

O: Not a bad beer at all, a little more of a hoppy presence in the nose would really make this shine, regardless this is a nice little pale ale that I would definitely drink again.

Picked up a bottle at Wegman's in Syracuse. Overall the character was fairly mellow, but I can see this making a great cask ale. The beer opened with a dry mix of dark bread and toffee, and finished with earthy citrus hops. This hops and barley are well balanced and make for a fine beer, but the character is just a too mild for a 5.1% beer.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color; very good retention from the head and a nice pattern of lace is left behind

Smell: Toasted bread with a hint of butterscotch and earthy hops

Taste: Bready, up front, with a layer of butterscotch arriving in the middle, along with the tea-like, herbaceous hops; after the swallow, the butterscotch lingers on the palate, though the overall effect is somewhat bitter

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: A decent EPA and while diacetyl is not inappropriate for the style, there is just a bit too much butterscotch for my preference

Thanks, sliverx, for the opportunity

another CB brew... they are my one of my top local brews.

A- darkened orange with a heightened shroom foam on the sides of the brew

S- dry and musty malt. It's not really inviting as you would want but there are nutty themes there.

T- a bold and rusty taste that lingers. Makes you think of the old country. Not bad

M- creamy and not bad

D- a good beer that focuses on a dry and bland flavor for the brew. Aged fruit is the key and it's not bad

A-Cloudy orange, one finger foam head, dissipates quickly, some lacing.

S-Floral and Citrus notes

T-Ends with some bitterness, the floral and citrus notes start off.

M-Light and some carbonation

D-Drinkable but could either be lighter or hoppier, seems like it is in the middle of the two extremes that the style can be.
