Despite the notable lack of any head, this beer has plenty of webby lace. Solidly amber colored with a significant haze.

Pleasant fresh smelling hop spiciness to the nose. Solid malt base.

Starts with a full pale malt flavor--dry and bready. Strong peppery hop in the mouth. The swallow is dry and bitter. Full mouthfeel with a lower level of carbonation. Overall, this is a very good, albeit quite neutral tasting pale ale. (428 characters)

Tried this even though I haven't been a big fan of the organic stuff.

Beer poured rather nice, with a coppery hue. The caramel hops were fairly pleasant.

I'd consider it a good pale ale, with bonus for being one of the organics I sctually like. I found it a bit heavy for its type to really kick back a few. I'll keep an eye out for some more from these folks on the west coast. (381 characters)

Pours pale amber with a modest white head and good amount of lacings. Aroma is floral hops.
Taste is orange-pinapple citrus bitter hops and an average amount of malts for the style.
Mouthfeel is average for the style.
Drinkability is good. Not a beer that will make you say "Wow" but a well crafted organic Pale. (313 characters)

Copper with a slight haze. Anemic white head. Mild grain and ester aroma, with a little green apple/acetaldehyde. Husky grain and feeble hops. Malt flavors are musty. A little sweetness up front, and a faintly citric, hoppy finish. Grainy aftertaste.

Every once in a while I'll re-try organic beers like this, only to be re-disappointed. They seem to all taste the same: as if they were made with old, stale ingredients. Its a shame because I like the idea, I like organic food in general, but I just can't get into organic beers. (532 characters)

12oz picked up a couple of Friday's ago at the Fred Meyer on Chinden.. poured into my shaped SA glass... I don't remember what I paid for the individual bottle, but I remember the 6'er being in the $9.50 range.

Nice creamy looking head.. with great lacing .. the brew is a slightly hazy orange.

nose is very subdued for an APA.. slight floral hops.. a little tangerine zest/orange oil..

flavor mirrors the nose with a nice/yet slight cookie maltiness that pushes the palate from front to back... just minor touches of caramel malts.. the body is a solid medium for the style.. and the carbonation is fairly heavy.. yet creamy nonetheless.. not much of a finish..but what is there bends again toward flowery and citric..

not a mind blower by any means.. but it is still a pretty okay beer..

3.5's across the board. (820 characters)

Another good organic brew from Butte Creek Brewing. I'm all for saving the earth, but some organics have all sorts of off tastes which makes being a good steward of the earth more difficult. Thankfully, this brew isn't one of those.

It pours a dark brown with a chunky white head. I'm getting a little grassy hops on the nose. The malt has a touch a sweetness, maybe a slight nuttiness, and is well balanced by the hops which have a highly grassy character with a little savory bitterness as well. Oily, slick mouth feel and really started warming up to this one as I worked through a six-pack. It's pretty smooth for a beer with some bitterness and complexity. (662 characters)

Appearance: pours a clear light orange color with a 2" head that lasts a bit. Moderate lacing develops and carbonation bubbles are few and far between.

Smell: caramel and some lemon zest are soft, and a grassy tone is also noticeable.

Taste: caramel, lemon zest, hint of orange, some pear sweetness, grass, and a mild bitterness make up a so-so pale ale.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Crisp throughout. Very little aftertaste.

Drinkability: this is another organic beer that just doesn't do it for me personally. One was enough for me. (535 characters)

A- Cloudy and deep orange with some really nice copper hues. The head is ever so slightly off white with a very creamy appearance and excellent retention. With a bit more carbonation activity in the liquid, this would be perfect.

S- Grassy, carmely, a bit of orange rind.. pretty subdued. A hint of floral activity is noticeable.

T- The floral and grassy flavors are noticeable here, as is the orange rind bitterness. The malt backing is decent. Pretty subdued with a hint of earthiness.

M- Very smooth, but just a bit too smooth. This could use just a bit more carbonation bite to it.

D- A very solid pale ale. I bet this is much better when it is extremely fresh. (669 characters)

Pours honey gold with a solid off white head that fades to clumps, puckers and webs of lace. Big juicy red grapefruit nose with mango and concentrated OJ stickiness. Roasted almond malts with some tropical fruit cut by citrus pith, bark and aspirin hops. Clean chalky leave. Light to medium, some chew.

Top APA, great balance between malt and hops. Unfortunately, the second drinks a bit too light and sweet. (410 characters)

5.5% ABV per label.

Pours a slightly murky honey orange with a 1 inch foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt and some very mild herbal hop aromas. Taste is of toasted malt and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average beer that doesn't really mesh together all that well in the aroma and flavor. (549 characters)
