Hazy golden colour with a thich, fluffy and long lasted head. Nice lacing.

Slightly spicy and herbal aroma with a touch of sweetness. Some pepper. Good.

Nice and smooth malt with a herbal edge. Really earthy. Nice.

Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Good.

A really good and interesting ale with a nice herbal flavour and solid sweetness that works with the whole. On the whole it is earthy, interesting and smooth and a great recommendation from the waitress at NOPA.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ

Pours a cloudy golden color with a small white head. Interesting nose. Lots of grass and even more cedar. A touch medicinal with some sweet malt notes and a hint of straw. The nose has a strong yeast component, but it’s almost like wine yeast. The flavor isn’t much different: heavy cedar, grass, and herbal notes with a touch of solvent. Lots of apple and a bit of white grape to it as well. Some weird nutshell sort of flavor that just seems out of place. Not a big fan of this beer.

Served on-draught into a stem-tulip at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach, California. Cost was somewhere between 6 and 7 dollars (per pint). Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a two finger head of slight cream, fair thickness, and good retention. Colour is a nontransparent copper. No yeast particles are visible.

Sm: Spicy notes, lactic notes, natural peanut butter, cream, and maybe apple. Spices are dominant. A mild strength aroma.

T: Lactic and creamy, with a strange off-flavour. Clean barley forms the foundation. Awkward and imbalanced. Strangely built. Almost faux-funky. Curious but largely unappealing. It doesn't strike me fancy at all.

Mf: Silky smooth and wet, with adequate thickness. Too slippery and slick. It bothers me; the mouthfeel prevents the flavours from emerging.

Dr: Drinkable but bland, dull, and boring. I wouldn't get it again. Very weird. I'm now suspicious of Moonlight Brewing.

Uncle Ølsen has a body that is yellow with a light haze to it. The head is very large and creamy, white in color, and very persistent in both retention and lacing.

Uh, smells like an air freshener.

Tastes pretty much like I would expect a pine air freshener to taste also. Lots of pine, apparently there is some spruce thrown in there. Very herbal overall, and it seems that there are a couple more spices thrown in there. Some light sweetness from the malt balances things out a bit, but it is hard to get past the pine.

Well, at least it doesn't feel like pine needles.

I dig the idea of brewing gruits with CA trees thrown in, but I'm not sure that one really works.
