The Blue Point Blueberry Ale pours from the 12oz bottle into my tulip glass a deep amber color with red and purple highlights. A small bubbly white head quickly falls to a ring around the top. Aroma hits you immediately (even right after pouring) with a distinct blueberry puree. A pale toasted grain maltiness lies underneath, slightly biscuity. The blueberry is integrated nicely.

First sip brings a crisp, toasted pale malt that's instantly met by a slightly sweet blueberry fruitiness. Reminds me of freshly made blueberry pancakes. Flows down with a toasted blueberry aftertaste. An enjoyable fruit beer that manages to never become too sweet.

Mouthfeel is on the lighter side with plenty of fast moving bubbles. I'm finding this really easy to drink and imagine it would be nice to have in hand outside on a hot summer day. A quencing brew with a low abv. If I had access to this, I'd definetly reach for it again. Thanks to plaid75 for sending this my way.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The bottle has the abv listed at 4.6% and it describes the beer as being "A delicious golden ale with natural flavors added". That's about it for info and well I don't like the look of "natural flavors added".

Appearance: A finger of creamy white foam forms on top of a clear golden brew with some visible carbonation flowing up to though the body. The head quickly settles to a thin film and makes some lace at the top of the glass.

Smell: In the nose I get the aroma of blueberries/blueberry like candy right after the pop of the glass. In the glass it opens up to include some light hints of sweet white bready malt.

Taste/Palate: The flavor is right on with the nose. Light blonde or golden ale, check, blueberry flavor, check. It's not complex at all and the fruit flavor is leaning more towards some real blueberry extract with a lot of artificial sweetener mixed in. Its light bodied, slides down easy, and finishes with the slightest hop bitterness and a little left over fruity blueberry sweetness.

Notes: It is drinkable but not really all that memorable.

on tap, poured a clear soft golden color, minimal head, and left some lacing. Lovely blueberry nose. Obvious and fairly bold notes of sweet blueberries. Soft mouthfeel. Crisp and dry with some hops coming onto the tongue late. Nicely balanced and crafted fruit ale. Not for everybody, but probably would be a winner with folks new to beer and/or interested in learning. Nice summer beer.

Appears a ruby amber tone with a large bubbled thick pink tinted cream head leaves sporadic strands of lacing all around my pint.

Aroma light tart blueberry tones with a touch of metallic character and light toasted malt sweetness with minimal earthy, herbal hops going on it doesn't seem overly sweet just a natural air of fruitiness going on.

Flavor, a biscuit maltiness with light herbal hop bitterness and a coat of blueberry tartness really affecting the sides of the palate finishes pretty clean with some lasting blueberry aftermath but nothing too cloying or sugary here pretty well made.

Mouthfeel light creamy carbonation body is a bit airy almost like a nitro draft sensation going on, the only negative is the trace of the blueberry flavor that really coats the palate after each sip.

Drinkability flows pretty well definitely a step above most other attempts at fruit beers but I don't think this blueberry has as many antioxidants as the fruit does, but a solid summer sipper definitely refreshing and not too one dimensional.

12 oz bottle served in a snifter.

Pours lightly hazy, amber colored, with a thin white head.
Aroma: blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup and biscuits on the side.

Flavor: While the aroma suggests a sweet brew with a heavy handed contribution of blueberry flavoring, such is not the case: very balanced in terms of fruit/malt and sweet/tart.

Feel: medium-light body; rather crisp carbonation with a semi-dry finish.

O: well done and better than expected.

S: 12 oz bottle poured into a Blanche de Chambly glass

A: Clear, brilliant, and orange-yellow gold. Very slow carbonation, a bubble or two rises slowly to the top. The head is thin.

S: Wow, not complex, but, powerful. Blueberries waft from the glass. In fact, when first poured my girlfriend smelled it sitting far away from the glass.

T: Clear and crisp, it has a bit of malt, nice hop, without to much bitter, and in the finish fresh blueberry.

M: Not heavy, crisp rather than creamy.

D: Light, low in alcohol, with a fresh crisp refreshing taste.

Overall: I'm not sure what to think of beer made with fruit, but, this is one of the better ones. It has a slight fresh blueberry taste that comes in the finish and matches the slight crisp bitter from the hops. The smell is impressive and the taste isn't too sweet because the hops do help to bitter it out a bit. It is a nice spring seasonal.

(Served in an American pint glass)

A- This beer has a crystal clear golden auburn colored body with a very slight blueish tone to a sticky thin white head. There is a strong carbonation of big bubbles that try to keep the head going.

S- This beer has the strong smell of a sugary blueberry cereal followed by a soft lightly toasted malt sweetness.

T- The blueberry flavor is present but softer than the smell but it does increase as the beer warms. There is a dry club soda note to follow and then a soft lightly toasted malt and dry field corn finish.

M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a tight little fizz finish.

D- The odd little beer that made me go to the grocery and by a bag of cheap blueberry cereal. None of the flavor were offensive but I think one of these is enough for a while.

Notes are from 5/24

A pale yellow color, mostly clear with just a touch of haze off the tap, this beer grows a not exactly spritzy, maybe somewhat fizzy white head that gathers some density as it eases down. It's not too long before it's a thick foam on the top, managing mostly spotting as it goes.
The aroma showcases the blueberry, pretty pure and clean, with a pale malts base offering the dusty and dry earthy notes similar to wheat. A hint of grass speaks to the hops.
The taste is light, the blueberry still coming through but not as strongly over the musty, dry, earthy malts and grainy notes. Yeast is pretty strong but not overly heavy.
It's light-bodied, but I wouldn't call it thin. It works to bring out the softer flavors and brings a crisp bite while offering some smoothness as well.

Got this from a well-meaning trader as an extra. A light yellow lager with some blueberry in it. Yes, blueberry smell. A bit overcarbonated astringent mouthfeel. Not very drinkable. Why I do not normally go for fruit beers. Nothing of any interest to me.

Pours a pale gold with a quarter of an inch of dense, soft, white head that has great retention. The nose has an immense blueberry aroma. The flavor is immensely fruity with an intense blueberry flavor that adds sweetness up front and some mild bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is light and well carbonated.

This is a good beer if you enjoy blueberries. If you're not a fan, then the flavor is far too intense and fruity. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if I could have more than one.

Appearance: Typical clear amber body beneath a short head of bright white foam that drops shortly and leaves only minor lacing about the glass.
Smell: Blueberry extract. Some minor "beer" aroma comes through as well, but basically the extract's got it covered.
Taste: The blueberries come through a bit at the front but immediately give way to a dollop of bready, wheaty malt. Bitterness becomes apparent towards the swallow, and it finishes drying with some residual sticky maltiness and a film of dull berry.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a gentle zest due to the median carbonation.
Drinkability: Overall it's not a bad beer. Tastes obviously vary greatly in a style like this and I think they've done a good job of balancing it.

A- Pours golden with a white foam head that dissapares quickly. Some carbonation is noticeable.

S - By far its best quality, the smell of fresh blueberry pie is evident as soon as it pours. The scent is genuine, and does not have an artificial aroma like one would get from Yankee Candle.

T - Solid for a fruit beer, with some sweetness from the blueberry flavor that has a sugary vibe. There is some taste of grains as well.

M - Tastes very light, which for the summer is perfect. Great drinker for the warm weather. Has a bit of a watery feel, but nothing that ruins the experience.

O - A solid local fruit beer that is one of the better blueberry beers out there. This is probably my favorite of Blue Point's staple of year-round beers.

This is a pretty decent blueberry beer. It's got an average color and flavor, but the aroma is very distinctive and pleasant. It definitely ranks up there in the fruit-flavored beer category, but take note that it's not necessarily my favorite style of beer.

This is a fruit beer that has flavors pretty close to the actual fruit. The blueberry is a little watery, like it should be, but it's still a nice taste. The malt is in the background and comes through nicely at times. At other times, however, there's an unpleasant bitterness (and I generally like bitterness). Still, the best blueberry beer I've had.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a clear gold, with 1 1/2 fingers of eggshell-white foamy head. Retains with a soft creamy layer, that leaves a decent amount of fizzy lacing down the sides of the glass. Wow, no shortage of blueberries in the aroma. It has a dense sweetness to it, that while not exactly feeling artificial or anything, still seems to hang just a bit heavy in the nostrils. Some light floral hops try and help cut this some, but this is still pretty fruity and thick in the nose.

The taste is sweet and lightly toasted pale malt grains, with the blueberries being much more restrained and balanced than what was in the nose. Very pleasant, adding a gentle fruitiness to the proceedings. Some light prickly hops run through this, drying the backend out. The mouthfeel is lighter bodied, with a softer and bubbly feel to the carbonation up front. This then gives way to a much crisper carbonation in the back, giving this some extra presence in the mouth.

Not bad at all. Despite the aroma coming off as a bit too heavyshanded, this ended up being a fairly tasty and refreshing Blueberry Ale.

Appearance - Moderately soapy head. Nearly opaque golden brown color.

Smell - Malt and fresh blueberries.

Taste - Similar to smell with a bit of twang. Orangey fruit in background. Has almost a breakfast cereal taste; Fruity Pebbles, Trix, Lucky Charms, Smurf Berry Crunch . . .

Mouthfeel - Superb with a nice hop dryness in the finish.

Drinkability - Very good.

A little more spice and hop complexity could have made this a true winner.

Light head a little or no lacing. Dark color and the aroma of fresh blueberries hits you right away. Taste is slightly subdued and the flavor is of fresh blueberries. No spices or breadiness, just light blueberry. Very refreshing

Poured a pale copper color with a small foamy white head that dissipated to a small cap. There was nice lacing on the side of the glass as I drank the beer. The smell is of blueberry muffings, almost too sweet. The taste started off buttery but as I drank it, it tasted more toasted, with a hint of blueberries in the end. The blueberry taste is not nearly as strong as the smell, which is good. There is a bit of a funk taste in this bottle as it may be old. It is well carbonated and crisp, finishes easy. Even though I suspect this may be from an old bottle, the beer is still quite drinkable.

Has a slight chill haze but otherwise a pale amber color with two fingers of white head that had decent retention. Very little lacing is left on the glass. The blueberries were sensed immediately during the pour. Has a blueberry pancake aroma. The flavor is not as enticing. The flavor is one dimensional and the blueberries are not that great tasting. Overly sweet with nothing to balance the berry flavor. Light body and well carbonated. No mistake on which type of beer drinker this is beer is for. For me drinkability is not that great. I would like a little more out of my beer than sweet blueberries.

A lovely golden brew with a nice white head and just a touch of lace. Blueberries hit the nose right away with a touch of malt sweetness and mild hop spiciness. Taste is golden ale with a light toasted malt nuttiness and a touch of biscuit. The blueberries ride atop the sweetness of the malt and flow throughout the structure of the beer. Finish is clean with mild hops and light berry notes that linger. Maybe a touch of bubblegum. Feel is crisp with a medium light weight. A nice beer to change the pace with especially during the warmer months. While not my first pick in this category not my last either.

My wife loves blueberry beer and this is one of her favorites. She let me have a 'taster' of one of these the other day.

Color is a pale light amber, with medium foam. The smell hits you right of the bat with - what else - blue berries! Theres other stuff going on there as well, but the fruit rules to roost.

The taste is surprisingly well balanced for the smell - the berries are there, but they don't take over. Instead they balance nicely into a very drinakble and enjoyable brew. Not as great as the Toasted Lager, but an enjoyable change of pace from Long Island.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle to a pint glass, the liquid is arusty copper with a berry hue and ok carbonation. The head is small white and leaves very little lace.

The smell is sweet blueberries like a blueberry syrup.

The taste follows, lots of sweet blueberry with some hops as a grasp for balance. Not bad as this is what I would expect.

The mouthfeel is light and fizzy. Less then medium body.

The drinkability is ok for what it is, but not something I would reach for. MK

A- Golden, apple juice color. Small ring of lacing and head that dissapears slightly leaving a small batch of foam on top.

S- Lots of blueberries!! Not artificial either; usually with a lot of these beers you get the "fruity pebble" smell but this one smels like a real fruit.

T- Well balanced. Blueberry flavor doesn't overwhelm the rest of the beer so that all of the flavors can come through. Leaves a very noticable taste of berries in the aftertaste, very appealing.

M- Just enough carbonation, quick thick feel for a beer that is so light in color.

D- Very drinkable, especially on a hot day. The flavors are balanced enough that you could easily hae a few of these.

Overall, this is one of the best blueberry beers that I have had.

I've had this beer at both the Brewery and out at bars. The color is an orange-amber, which I think is very appealing. The smell is obviously blueberry but it is intense and sweet. The taste, though, is not too sweet at all nor is it bitter. It's quite nice actually. The blueberry does not overpower the entire beer but you do get enough of a blueberry taste to be satisfied. It's crisp and light with a toasted after taste that finishes it nicely. The mouthfeel is very smooth as well. The head was a bit unimpressive. Not very thick and there was really no lacing while I was drinking the beer. I feel like it would be a great beer to enjoy in the summer because of how refreshing the taste is. This beer is without a doubt a beer that I will be enjoying again in the future.

Sampled on June 2, 2011. It begins with a golden yellow pour and quick head that settles down. There are plenty of blueberries in the aroma along with a biscuit or breadlike thin malted character. The body is medium to light. The taste was fairly sweet and blueberry filled with little in the way of hops to top it off. This would be pleasant on a very hot day so bring on the summer!
