12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Deep reddish amber hue, good clarity with a wisp of lacing on top. Fruity, toasty, malty nose ... hint of alcohol in there as well. Toasted malt, mild stone fruit, bready graininess, and faint caramel. A kiss of alcohol, spicy hop, and a clean palate throughout. A bit too scrubbed, just enough flavor to garner that "robust" tag the brewer states. A good pick for a malty non-spiced winter brew.

On cak at the Pizza Plant on Transit, poured from the engine a clear deep amber a tight formed creamy one finger head atop.Real muted aromas almost nothing going on a touch of caramel and biscuit but not a whole lot really much to say here, a noticable drying hop profile to go with a decent caramel sweetness but I think Blue Point strives for a gentle quaffing amber more than big bolder flavored style. Its ok it blow your socks off but its sessionable and has nice subtle flavors.

12 ouncer with fresness dating showing both the month and year it's best to consume by, yeah! Poured a reddish amber, clear, off white head, leaves some lacing. Nose is nutty, and grainy. Medium bodied ale, bready, nutty, fair amount of spicing noted as it warms. Nothing special, but this is a decent, middle of the road, lighter take on the winter warmer style. Good winter brew for newbies.

Snagged a few of these while at Another Liquor Store...one of the best places to shop in the area thanks to Beerguy.
Dark mahogany in color with a half a finger of tan head...most of it recedes, but leaves behind some very attractive lacing.
Pleasant malty aroma, caramel, fig and some floral hop.
The taste is decent...less sweet than I was expecting and a bit of a smoky flavor until it really warms up. Not overly hoppy in the flavor, but quite dry and bitter in the finish with some lingering roasted malt.
Mouthfeel is a touch thin and the carbonation is nice.
Not my favorite take on the style, but worth trying.

served into nonic glass from a 12 oz. brown long neck bottle with crimp-on cap.

Brilliant, very clear, medium amber/copper deep reddish hue. 2" white head, good retention,a few tiny bubbles rising, nice lacing down the sides of the glass.

Moderate nose, mostly spice, also fruity, slightly sweet carmell/toffee a bit of some tartness.

Spicy flavors dominate first taste, followed by a grassy tart taste,a dry, bitter finish. Nothing fancy here a plain ole winter beer.

Medium bodied, smooth, good drinkability, nothing here to make me want to drink more than one of these beers. A mediocre offering from Blue Point, usually enjoy most of their beers.
Nothing to really get excited about here. A bit of a dissapointment for me.

Clear orangey copper colored with a thick and dimpled head of off-white froth that lingers long.

Aroma of doughey biscuit malt and low hop bitters. Flavors of toasty malt, notes of corn and light brown sugar, understated toffee, punctuated with hop bitterness, but low hop flavor and aroma. Could be more complex. Full and rich mouthfeel, average drinkability.

Undated 12 oz bottle served in a Trois Pistoles snifter.

A: The beer is a deep reddish brown color with some fine looking carbonation bubbles, all covered by a good sized off-white head. The head reduces to a lasting partial coat and ring, and plenty of lacing is left on the glass.

S: The aroma features sweet malts, with a good bit of caramel, some alcohol esters and traces of hops. Some light floral and smoke notes.

T: The taste is a step towards an imperial amber, with flavors of darker roasted malts than usual, Some coffee and smoke in the finish and aftertaste. Hops are obvious in the finish and lend a very good sweet/bitter balance. The alcohol very well hidden.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, slightly dry finish.

O: Light in body and ABV for a winter seasonal, it’ is darker and richer than average for an amber ale.

(Served in an American pint glass)

A- This beer has a crystal clear reddish-brown body with a lumpy light tan thin film on top that is supported by big bubbles gliding to the surface.

S- The soft smell of biscuit malt and toasted malt has a faint caramel malt quality and concludes with a faint green bitter note.

T-The taste of biscuit malt is dry with a soft note of stall cinnamon and finishes with a green noble hop hint.

M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel and a big fizz finish that enhances the hops note a bit.

D- This is not what I expected for a winter ale. I picture full bodied something to keep you warm brew, but instead it was a light beer with a darker color.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, clear, deep, dark, mahogany color with a quarter of a finger of white head that quickly dissolved into a thin lacing of foam that completely covered the top of the beer.

Aroma: Not much in the aroma department, either that or I’m stuffed up. I do get some very faint notes of malt and brown sugar, but not much else.

Taste: Much more in the flavor department however. Strong notes of malt and freshly baked bread. Black pepper, coriander, brown sugar-like sweetness and subtle hops.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and smooth, as there’s not much in the way of carbonation, what-so-ever. With an ABV of 7.0%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.

Overall: This is a pretty tasty beer. Good balance between malt and sweet and hoppy bitterness, but at the same time, its’ nothing special. If offered, I’d happily drink it again, but I’m not picking it up again on my own. It’s a good quaff, but forgettable.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. 2009 date.

A-Mahogany red with filtered clarity and a nice light tan head that laces up very well. I'm a sucker for beers that look like this...A very pretty brew.

S-A light nose. Sweet caramel malts..perhaps a hint of spice, some fruits and nuts in the background. Subtle, but pleasing.

D-Nose carries through to the taste. Slightly sweet caramel malts with a hint of smoke and spice and a clean dry finish with a bit of hop tingle on the tongue.

M-Well balanced overall.

D-This is a very drinkable beer, and one which I would definately buy again. Not sure why the reviews on this are not higher. I was really not expecting much from this based on the reviews, and was prepared to crack it, taste it, and move on, but I really like this one...

I generally like my winter beers big, but it is such a pleasure to see something come in at a sessionable ABV with a very pleasing profile. Is it unique? No, but it is a a real sweetheart of a winter session beer, and one that kicks the tail out of SA Winter Lager in all departments and whips out the old saw..."whats not to like?"

I picked this up as part of a winter mixed case from my local distributor. The beer poured a standard amber color with a slight white head. The aroma was malty sweet with a touch of caramel. The taste was malty sweet with some spice notes. No real hop taste to this one but still enjoyable. The body was pretty smooth and easy to drink.

Hoppy and initially tasty and drinkable. Body on the thin side. A bit of spice not much. Low alcohol a plus..I can get another beer in. Average beer overall, easy to drink. OK to have once. Balance of bitterness and sweetness on the latter. Expiry June 2006.

A - amber with a thick, off white head with good retention

S - caramel, grains, sweet

T - caramel, apple, mild bitterness

M - medium bodied, well carbonated

This is an incredibly disappointing beer. It's super-simplistic with esters and caramel dominating, but there is also an off-putting graininess throughout. I'll pass this is up in the future.

poured out a dark amber color. 2 finger long lasting head.
smells of sweet malts with a metallic nose.

not much of a traditional winter, more like an all year amber.
has some redeeming qualities as it's body has a nice full flavor.
sweet fruity malts with a little bit of spicy hopness to it, also kind of metallic.

drinks ok, wouldn't recommend it to a friend tho
