Picked up a growler fill at Got-Ta-Go in Chambersburg, PA. Poured into a mason jar that I got from the wedding we were at this weekend. No glassware at the hotel.

Appearance: This beer poured a two finger head that reduced to a thin layer and left some nice lacing on the glass. It is a nice copper color with good clarity and bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Caramel and toffee, fruity, a little booze, citrus, and grassy hops.

Taste: Same as above with the hops a little hidden behind the sweet malts. A little bitterness in the end, but mostly balanced.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, low to medium carbonation, medium to full bodied, a little dry, and a little tingly bitterness.

Overall: Pretty solid DIPA here folks. So happy to get this growler filled while traveling through PA.

On tap at the Pizza Plant on Transit, poured into a goblet a deep slight hazed burnt orange-like color a thinner but well retained head atop. Not really DIPA in my mind in the nose or the palate for that matter, big caramel amd brown sugar malt with hints of cherry and apricot with just a noticable bit of peppery hop.A real noticable alcohol burn shows thru right away cutting thru the big caramel, sweet cherry and citrus fruit, the hops wich give off a slight apricot and peach flavor do not stand out much at least not enough for the style...in my opinion.I really thought this was gonna be better I almost bought a growler last week honestly Iam glad I didnt.

Cask at the Brazen Head (Bklyn NY) as part of their tri annual cask fest, poured pretty hazy, almond amber with a typical tan head and slight lacing. Herbal, citrusy hop crunch, not overpowering. Ample malt to provide balance...in a world thankfully awash with quality DIPAs, this one is somewhere in the middle of the pack, certaintly worth a try, but nothing all too special

Appears a copper amber hue with a large off whtie headleaves fine even lacing around my sampling glass. Aroma has some grapefruit, citrus mixed with mild floral tones really hoppy upfront with a bit of discernable malt caramel sweetness. Flavor wise more hoppiness iwth grapfefruit peels and floral mustiness colliding quite a hop kick with a touch of caramel malt sweetness and biscuit flavors attempting to balance this out. Mouthfeel is medium bodied evenly cabonated clings to the palate quite well with the oily hops remaining on the palate long after each sip and during the course of a pint this has a cumulative effect. Drinkability is decent a solid all around DIPA although with so many better examples flowing beside this one it would be hard to return here. Those other beers flowing beside you ask well Weyerbacher Double Simcoe and Nugget Nectar those are no brainers.

Blue Point- No Apologies

Appearance- Hazy/ cloudy orange with a thick white head. Heavy lacing throughout the beer.
Smell- Alcohol! with cherries, peach/ apricot, plum, and pine oil.
Taste- Big bitter pine oil with a huge dose of dried fruits, raisin, apricot, cherry, prune. Green unripe hop flavor makes up a strong body and alcohol is present throughout.
Mouthfeel- Strong alcohol and bitter earthy hops.

Overall- This is a mighty strong sipping beer here. 1 or 2 should be the limit otherwise you're in for some trouble.

Thanks to jtd1969 for sharing this one

A - amber with an orange haze; 1/4" of white head; little retention

S - bread, caramel, dark fruit, alcohol

T - bread, caramel, grapefruit, pineapple, candy sugar, dark fruit

M - medium to full bodied, smooth, well carbonated

Delicious. It's malty and hoppy and very well balanced. Some characteristics tend toward a barleywine. I very much enjoyed this beer through and through.

Growler fill at the brewery.

A - Orange pout with a thin tan foam that clears quickly. Very clear, nice lacing, and minimal carbonation.

S - Scent is of oily hops, some kind of tropical fruit (mangos?), and a bit of pine.

T - Flavor has a fruit sweetness, and a blast of hoppy bitterness. Well balanced. I'd say the best part is how the flavor isn't over the top and the residual sugar gives it a complexity that isn't common in a DIPA. I found it enjoyable.

M - Thick, raspy, and feels like a big IPA. Even though the balance is good you will feel this one.

O - One of the better Blue Point products. I can expect that fresher is better. I would not look for this in bottles.

Poured very appropriately for a double or imperial IPA. Strong smells of hop and alcohol. First taste is a big wow. Strong everything. Unfortunately as my mouth got used to the strong tastes, I began to notice the slickness of the liquid and it wasn't pleasant.
I'm sorry to say that this one certainly packs all its punches in the first blow. Sort of deteriorates as the glass empties.
Try one. But don't buy a whole case (or a whole growler) unless you know better.

Pours a hazy golden color with a beige merangue loking head that slowly settles into a rocky cap, leaving plenty of chunk lacing.

The aroma is a big tropical fruit hop presence. Mango, pineapple, and orange dominate the aroma. A bit herbal. Has a candied like sweetness. Some honey and toffee like notes from the malt.

The taste is of tropical fruit hop notes as well but there is more bitterness and more of a malt presence. Orange and pineapple bring the sweet candied flavors. There is a light resin bitterness to keep the tropical fruit notes in check. The malt is also quite sweet. Lots of honey and toffee notes. The malt is also quite bready. Some grassy notes in the end.

The beer is well bodied with prickly carbonation. Very sweet between the tropical fruit hops and malt. This is offset with a piney/resiny bitterness. As sweet as it starts, its not sticky or syrupy.

Too sweet for my liking in a DIPA, borders on hoppy barley wine. Just not a fan of the hop profile coupled with a big sweet malt but it is well made and others will like this.
