12oz into pint glass.

Pours with a decent, creamy off-white head over a fairly clear amber body. Touch of carbonation flowing up.

Aromas contain the traditional pumpkin and spice (both in muted form) but also accompanied by a tangy citrus hop quality. Clove may be the predominant spice.

Low to moderate body. Flavors include clove, nutmeg, pumpkin, and lemon rhind. As it warms, I picked up on some cinnamon, carrot, and flat 7-Up as well. Mouthfeel is pretty crisp, with a nice level of carbonation... cleanses the palate pretty well, but not representative of the style.

Not one of my favorites, and strangely similar to Shock Top's Wheat Pumpkin.

On-Tap....

A- Copper brew with a thin off white head, quickly dissipating. No lacing.
S- Your run of the mill pumpkin ale scents- cinnamon, caramel, nutmeg.
T- Bland. However, the pumpkin tastes fresh and is the star of the beer. Spice, malt, pumpkin. Watery at times.
M- Thin body. Very straightforward- nothing out of the box. It's a pumpkin ale for sure, but not great.
O- Not bad, just not impressed.

oured into a standard pint a clear deepr copper color with a nice tight one finger head atop, alot of lace was left behind as it settled into a frothy mass.Pumpkin pie spice was the main component in the aromas with cinnamon and orange-like cardamom sticking out most,I didnt get any pumpkin to speak of really.Light and sharp in the mouth wich I wasnt a big fan of.Spice and more spice on the palate, cinnamon being most prominent,a little clove as well.A pretty run of the mill pumpkin ale here,I wouldnt search out again.

For a pumpkin ale, all the traditional tastes are there but there's a slight sour tartness that detracts from Blue Point's offering just a bit. To be honest, this verges a bit more on a marzen feel rather than a nice, spicy, flavorful pumpkin. It's not a bad beer, but when I get a pumpkin ale I expect to be punched in the mouth with flavor.

Poured into a becker.

Pours a clear copper colored brew with a 2 finger foamy white head. Nice lacing.

Smells of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove and pumpkin .

Tastes of spices - cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove and pumpkin. Mild biscuty malt.

Light/medium mouthfeel descent carbonation.

Highly drinkable brew, but not enough punch for me. It's definitely a worthy brew in the sense that it is very approachable - I think I'm just used to the bolder flavors.

Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into a Thomas Hooker pint glass.

A: Light copper-orange with sterling clarity beneath a thin head of creamy, ivory foam that fades quickly but leaves a slick coating of bubbles and a bit of clingy lace.

S: Crunched up maple leaves, grassy hops and pumpkin rind with sweet cinnamon and clove in the mix.

T: Musty, fruity and spicy malt flavor up front with a rush of caramel and faint spices before a slick and buttery pumpkin flavor glides across mid-palate. Washes down a tad watery and metallic with those spicy hop and pumpkin pie flavors in the wake. Starts better than it finishes.

M: Thin-medium bodied pumpkin ale with a little bit of a watery character near the finish and metallic hops to dry up the aftertaste.

D: Not a bad pumpkin ale, but maybe I always hope they're going to be more robust than this. At 6% ABV its no slouch, but the malty backbone and true pumpkin flavor misses a bit for me. I've certainly had worse and would recommend it over, say, Pumpkin Head or Buffalo Bill's, perhaps.

Blue Point : Mother Pumpkin Ale

Ontap. Pours copper in color, small off white head forms and fades away. Aroma of pumpkin pie spices. In the flavor, caramel malts, light toasted grains and a touch of pumpkin and spice. Some nutmeg, coriander, and all spice are detectable. Mild pumpkin flavor, though fairly one dimensional. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and thin, watery. Overall, a decent pumpkin ale and fairly drinkable.

S: Classic pumpkin pie spices.

L: Crystal clear amber, creamy white head that dissipates to just a dusting.

T: Clean maltiness with just a touch of pumpkin spices. Fairly dry and clean overall, quite bland. Slightly spicy and dry finish with a touch of hops.

M: Medium thin body, medium carbonation.

Bland and boring.

Pretty good Pumpkin beer with lots of flavor and body. Pours a dark amber color and quite a nice drinking ale...not overwhelming with spice. The pumpkin pie taste is not very evident however its still a good pumpkin beer that is cheaper than most to drink.

Pours a dark golden color with plenty of bubbly carbonation and a half inch of fluffy white head.

Nose is pumpkin pie spices, earthy sweet pumpkin, caramel and brown sugar.

Tastes like caramel, pie crust, browned butter, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Dry in the finish with lots of lingering spiciness.

Fairly straightforward American pumpkin ale. Nothing all that unique. Not bad, just run-of-the-mill for the style.

I don't really know what best sets a pumpkin ale apart as many taste very similiar (i.e. like this one). I tend to look to Dogfish Head's Punkin Ale as one of the better pumpkin ales and want something a little more akin to that.

Not a bad beer by any means but it certainly won't end up in the "wow" category.

Pours a clean orange-ish to brown color with an off white head. In the aroma, hint of cinnamon and mellow spice. In the taste, spices, mostly cinnamon, and a small pumpkin and fruit back. A smooth and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small spice to a clean aftertaste. A nice taste, but lacking everywhere else.

I love pumpkin ales so when ever I can get my hands on one ill try it.

A- Pours a nice light orange like color which is very tranparent, Nice head of foam with alot of carbonation.

S- Has a very light smell to it, def get a good smell of pumpkin and faint hints of cinnamon.

T- Has a much more bold taste than it did smell. A nice amount of pumpkin with nice touchs of cimmamon and nutmeg, maybe a mild touch of brown sugar. Has a very light finish.

M- Great drinkability, very crisp, refreshing, has a creamy mid palette.

Overall- I really enjoyed it good pumpkin beer. Will def be buying it again. Cheers!

Pours burnt orange with a very thin line of white head that dissipates quickly. Not much of a smell to this beer at all, perhaps some faint pumpkin is describable. There is a shot of pumpkin flavor up front, but the first half of the beer was ruined by an unpleasant astringent finish. This finish was muted some once the beer warmed, but it was unpleasant all the same.

Poured into a pint glass. Reviewed alongside Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale.

A: Clear amber with two-finger, off-white, creamy head that lasted more than a few minutes. Great lacing.

S: Moderate nose. Malt, pumpkin, and cinnamon.

T: Moderate sweetness and light bitterness. Pumpkin and spice. A bit of a nutty finish. Strong cinnamon flavor overpowers the pumpkin a bit.

M: Light to medium bodied. Smooth and crisp. Fizzy carbonation.

O: This beer looked fantastic in the glass. The nose was descent. Not much pumpkin in the taste. The mouthfeel was smooth and crisp. Overall, I liked this one better than the Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale.

A: The beer has a nice amber golden color with a robust foamy white head.
S: There is a nice maltiness that blend with the hops to give you a nice bitterness and a good honey scent. The pumpkin and cinnamon really dominates the aroma.
T: The pumpkin is the first thing you taste right away. Its really natural and fleshy without any artificial sweetness so you just get a nice hint of cinnamon and fresh pumpkin. The hoppy finish brings out a nice spiciness to the beer.
M/O: Crisp and drinkable. the foamy head really brings out the aromas. Not too heavy but the flavor is very full and rich.

This brew poured out a clear copper colored brew with a soapy white looking head. Some light lacing on the glass. The smell of the beer has some decent spice aromas... Some pumpkiny aromas too. The taste is spicy too, a little sweet. The mouthfeel is smooth and lightly carbonated. Overall this pumpkin brew isnt too bad. Worth trying but not my favorite.

One of the better pumpkin offerings this year, this beer will definitely complement mom's turkey dinner!! Like all pumpkin ales, in my opinion, this one is best sipped and enjoyed...not your typical "put on the game and tie one on" beer. A lot of my non-beer loving friends (I do know a few) can agree this is a good beer.

stopped by the brewery after work to grab a brew or a few. nice reddish orange color. smells like subtle pumokin and fall smells. cinamon spice.the pumokin flavor is nice, subtle but present abd not dominating. the beer does have a lagery feel which us a but weird but overall a good pumpkin brew and one to try of you aren't into the pumpkin assault of many in the style.

I'm tackling a horizontal tasting of four pumpkin ales tonight. My final selection is Blue Point.

This beer is a typical orange color and has a thin layer of head. It has the weakest nose of the four; maybe I smell some pumpkin puree and cinnamon?

Maybe this beer is suffering because it's the last in my line up and my palate has become dulled, but then if the nose is weak, I shouldn't be surprised if the flavor profile is weak. It starts decently, with some puree, nutmeg, and vanilla, but the finish is watery. This is just an average beer.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a bronze color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of fresh pumpkin pie. Taste is rather mild compared to the smell, some pumpkin and nutmeg are present, not overly flavorful. Feels light in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

12 oz bottle poured into a DFH Snifter

A - Clear, medium-dark amber pour. Thick, cream colored head with decent retention and a loose lace.

S - Lighter in the nose, with light cinnamon and ginger notes. Not a lot going on here.

T&M - Lighter bodied; and a bit watery feeling. Some minor pie spice flavors, again the predominant players are cinnamon, ginger, and a bit of nutmeg. This is striking me as sort of an "everyman" pumpkin ale...it's not unpleasant, but the flavors are a little too underwhelming for my personal liking.

O - On the brighter side, it is rather refreshing, does not carry the overly sweet edge that a lot of pumpkin ales carry, and may be a good introduction to the style for someone who is unsure or unfamiliar with it.

A: Pours a nice copper body with a small head; little to no lacing.

S: This one is not one whose aroma is too "pumkin-y". Loads of pumpkin spices with a hint of sweet pumpkin. Some caramel and bready malts are faint, but a nice back ground.

T: To me, there are two basic types of pumpkin ales... ones that focus mostly on the spices, and ones that focus more on the pumpkin flavor. This one is more on the spice side (nutmeg, clove, and allspice), although it's not too overwhelming and is nicely balanced with the pumpkin and some caramel. There is also some bready malts in there to tone things down, making it extremely drinkable.

M: Smooth mouthfeel that borderline thin; mild-light carbonation; medium-light body.

O: For a pumpkin ale, I like this one. It's not too much on either side of the pumpkin spectrum. The bready malts are a nice touch toning down what could be an overwhelming spicy flavor. I would get this again, and recommend this to a pumpkin ale lover.

A - Amber bodied brew. One inch head fades quickly but leaves some lacing on the way down.

S - Very nice nose. Cinnamon jumps right out, followed by notes of ginger and all-spice along with the pumpkin. Not as big a nose as some other pumpkin beers but still nice.

T - Starts off great with all of those pumpkin and spice notes hitting the taste buds immediately. However, after swallowing, it seems to leave an aspirin like aftertaste.

M - Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation.

O - Started off with so much promise in the nose and the initial taste but the aftertaste left me disappointed. I don't think I'd turn it down if offered but I don't think I'd seek it out, either, given the availability of so many good pumpkin beers these days.

When i poured this beer into a pint glass, it has a hazy orange body with a 1"white head, that sticks around for a while. The aroma is of sweet malts, clove and pumpkin and a hint of nutmeg. The taste is like the smell, malt, clove pumpkin and nutmeg. The mouth feel is nice and carbonated and is smooth off the tongue. Overall this is a good pumpkin beer.
