12oz bottle into a snifter. The brew appears a pale golden orange color with a yellow clarity seen around the edges. A white frothy topping fades leaving spotty lace.

The smell is sweet and fruity almost like orange rind overtop a caramel/toffee base of grain sweetness and freshness.

The taste is also sweet almost like candy with an herbal hop flavor blending to fruit and alcohol. A soft amount of herbal hop bitterness lingers into the finish.

This is a pretty classic medium body with modest amount of carbonation. Somewhat crisp but that candy-like sweetness could be tamed down a bit to make it overall more enjoyable.

With the common "American-ized" taste of festbier, Blue Point's Oktoberfest provides a dry caramel character with those toasty and lightly floral inspirations from those special Bavarian lagers.

The Oktoberfest bier opens with a bright golden, light amber appearance that sparkles with its filtered clarity. Its generous carbonation races to the top to fuel a cottony white cap with semi-stern retention and mild lace.

Its bright aromas are juicy with plump barley for a semi-sweet, partly grainy scent. With elements of bread crust, light toast and mild yeast, its light huskiness is also met with faint caramel and honey. Its floral tone is delicately perfumy with those late addition noble European hops.

Its grainy-sweet taste goes from bread to pecan to caramel as the the taste moves from initial palate to the middle. As its floral upstart develops into a mild spicy-type bitterness it shows light grass and mint. A slight mineral taste adds crispness to the taste, particularly in finish as the light hop showing is complemented with a hint of chalk.

Its easy-drinking character starts with mild residual sweetness that soon whisps away, leaving a light husky, grainy texture behind. As the minty alcohol, hop dryness and snappy mineral feel sums up its finish, the ale leaves the palate semi-clean and pleasantly refreshed.

Where the beer's caramel flavor pushes it slightly outside of its style parameters, it begins to resemble an Amber Ale as much as it does Oktoberfest. But even with its American liberties, the beer is pleasant and humble.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a pretty, clear, lighter golden color with a quarter of a finger of white head that quickly dissolved into a very thin halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass and formed a few wispy clouds that collected in the center of the top of the beer.

Aroma: Like most Oktoberfest beers, it is very malty and bready, with notes of freshly baked bread or pretzels, and some notes of caramel, black pepper and clover.

Taste: Very similar to the aroma, lots of bready malt up front, followed by some caramel-like sweetness and nicely rounded out by some wonderfully balanced hoppy bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium with some good carbonation to tickle the taste buds. With an ABV of only 5.5% there is no alcohol presence on the palate

Overall: This is another very solid American example of an Oktoberfest beer. Nicely balanced, extremely quaffable. I liked it a lot, and I’ll certainly add it to my Oktoberfest rotation.
