Beer added by: JoeyBeerBelly on 10-14-2011

This is our first time brewing with fresh or “wet” Pacific Northwest hops (that were overnight delivered from Hopunion LLC), and since they’re only available once a year, this is an extremely limited, one-time-only batch that will not be widely distributed to bars or restaurants.

First had: on tap at TJ's, Paoli, PA

Poured a slightly hazed, dark copper-amber color with a small wispy layer of white bubbles on top. Very nice aroma, thick with citrus and tropical fruits, potpourri, sugary malts. Similar taste, lots of citrus and tropical fruit, more sweet than crisp due to a generous addition of caramel malts, which leaves this beer tasty, but lacking a brilliant and fresh hop flavor. Pithy bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium body, pretty smooth, and quite good overall.

From 11/13/12 notes. Had this on tap at Fourth Avenue Pub in Brooklyn. Served in a pint glass.

a - Pours a dark reddish-amber color with one inch of slightly off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Nose is awesome. Smells of pine hops, citrus hops, hemp, grapefruit, tropical fruits, fruity malts, bready malts, wheat, and pineapples. Very nice and load os fresh hops and fruit; really like the nose.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, hemp, tropical fruits, lemon, grapefruit, light pine , and fruity malts. Some slight bitterness, and more hemp and tropical fruits than the nose, tough less citrus and pine. Nice but less hoppy and a step down from the nose.

m - Medium body and low carbonation. The body is super smooth and creamy, and pretty easy to drink. Very nice body.

o - Overall a very good IPA with a great nose. Tons of fruit and hops, this is the best beer I've had from Blue Point to date. Worth checking out.

Appearance: pours a yellowish orange color with a big 2" head that lasts a long time. Nce lace paints the glass.

Smell: wonderful hop aroma with a bunch of citrus tones.

Taste: caramel, orange, lemon zest, a bit of mango, and a hearty earthy and citrus bitterness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Lightly crisp from start to finish with some dryness late. Long lasting aftertaste as the flavors linger in the mouth a while.

Overall: a very enjoyable and easy to drink beer. Very hop-centric but very well balanced. Worthy of a try.

On draft at Tap and Barrel, Hauppauge, NY.

Poured a dark copper hue with a two finger frothy white head. There was very good retention and sticky lacing.

The smell featured a resinous piney hop atop a light grainy malt.

The taste consisted of an upfront fresh piney hop blast with some lesser citrus notes.

The mouthfeel was toward the thinner side of the style (watery even) with a sharp carbonation.

Overall a tasty and quaffable wet hopped IPA.

A- Nice pale golden color, a touch darker than a typical pale ale. Medium head with nice lacing.

S- Beautiful hoppy aroma, both floral and citrusy.

T- Bold hop flavor, really well rounded with herbal and citrus notes. Super fresh hop flavor with great lingering of bitterness.

M- Smooth and well rounded. Nice residual bitterness with great carbonation.

O- A great beer, super drinkable with amazing hop presence . More complex than expected.

swing by the brewery after work to pick up some globe glasses (finally back in stock). got a 4 oz pour of this. arrived a deep red brown with no head. smells and tastes like fresh hops. really sticky and wonderful tasting. mouth is a but weak on carb and it drinks like juice with mild fizziness, maybe like a flavored seltzer? mouth aside, a very impressive brew from the locals. nice malt back bone ang good balance, not a bitter bomb.

Pours a clear honey color with a dense white head that left some webby lacing.

The aroma is of a perfumey hop. Floral notes with some citrus and grass. Enjoyable aroma but not very strong.

Nice fresh hop flavor. Floral and buddy with light fresh grass notes. Slight pepper. Slightly bready malt which is clean and let's the hops shine. Good bright hop flavor.

The feel is moderate with semi soft carbonation. Slightly bitter on the palate. Nice balance and drinks well.

A good wet hop pale ale. Nice hop flavor and drinks quite well. I hope Blue Point keeps making this.

Fresh growler filled at Blue Point Brewery served in a standard pint glass.

L - lightly hazed amber color with a off-white head that thinned out and left spotty lacing.

S - fresh tropical fruits.

T - fresh blast of tropical fruit flavors with a solid malt background, the bitterness on the finish leaves some sticky sweetness on the lips.

F - medium bodied with good carbonation, easy to drink.

O - a very enjoyable beer.

Served on-tap a orange-gold with two fingers of thick white head. Nice amount of sticky lacing left behind.

Aroma of fresh grass, citrus and onion.

Tasted of fresh grass, onion and floral hops with a light malty note.

Medium bodied and a bit sticky with a moderate carbonation.

Overall, a pretty enjoyable beer from Blue Point.

12/7/12 on tap at Croxley Ale's in Farmingdale, NY: pours clear blood red color with a foamy 2 finger off white head that faded very slowly, leaving great foamy lacing with rings as it went down.

Smells of juicy citrus hops, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, floral hops, caramel, biscuit, wet bread, piney hops, and fruity sweetness; hoppy, but not overly hoppy with nice malty balance.

Tastes like it smells, with juicy citrus hops that seem like wet hops, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, floral hops, caramel, biscuit, wet bread, toffee, piney hops, herbs, tea leaf, light spices like pepper and coriander, and fruity sweetness like cherry or plum; hoppy, but not overly hoppy with bready notes and herbal notes that allow the hops to steal the show yet still remain on the soft and mellow side.

Mouthfeel is light, creamy and smooth, with very mild carbonation, a medium body, and a semi dry finish with a combo of hops and herbs.

A good solid experiment from Bluepoint, this was very easy to drink and smooth. While this was a good start to the hop expansion, I still like No Apologies much better, but this is worth trying.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into a Cigar City pint glass.

A: Hazy gold with a thin white head, and plenty of visible carbonation.

S: Grassy and juicy melon hops, with less tropical fruit aroma, and a light cracker malt.

T: Big flavors of melon, mango and pineapple tropical fruits, some citrus, and a lighter spicy, touch of resin and dank hops over a very lightly toasted cracker malt. Lightly bitter in the hang.

M: Light body, almost no alcohol presence, and the carbonation towards the low side - though certainly not flat.

O: Very tasty, and quite the pleasant surprise. It's quite fruity, and not as grassy as most fresh hop beers. Really quite enjoyable. Recommended.

This isn't an IPA, it's actually an APA that clocks in at 5.3% ABV. And what a fantastic wet hop APA it is. The aroma has big juicy citrus hops and a bit of biscuity malts. The taste is just awesome, tons of citrus hops that have nice layers of complexity. The mouthfeel is nice and oily - you can tell they wet hopped the hell out of it. My first wet/fresh hop beer of the season, looking forward to more!

S: perfumy; flora; citrus;

T: more floral than anything else; finish is moderately bitter with a little citrus; didn't get much in the way of malt;

M: medium bodied; light carbonation;

O: interesting;

Lovin' this one. Brilliant clarity, nice head, decent lace. Nose is a fine balance of lightly sweet and bready malt countered by a huge tropical fruit happiness. Taste a is rich malt body balanced by a depth of hops that must be experienced to be appreciated. Chewy breadiness, earthy hops with the tropical flavors from the nose. Feel is medium heavy for a pale ale, gently carbonated with a tingle on the tongue. Great take on a pale ale. The wet hop additions make this a real winner.

I don't get it. others rate this beer pretty high. initial aroma is savory but off putting - almost like hamburger. i keep smelling it to see if i'm missing something but it's not like other wet hopped beers that i like. i really don't like the aroma. the flavor is not as off putting as the aroma but isn't great. again, i don't get the high marks. overall, i think it's an odd beer. not so good.

Adendum: talked it over with one of belmont MA finest beer geeks at CBCB. He said its like onions. If i were to cook with it, it might be fantastic. At the price point however, its not likely to happen.

Pours a clear amber with a thick white head. Good retention and good lacing. Aromas of citrus, floral hops, with faint spice notes. Taste follows nose - lots of citrus, faint floral, some pine notes, faint catty notes. Not a hop bomb, but nicely bitter. It's very nicely balanced by a solid malt bill. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, an easy drinking, smooth, and well crafted pale.

Appearance: Poured with a standard pint from a 64oz growler filled at Beery City in Deer Park, NY. Colour is a clear amber brown. Half-inch head is puffy and fades to a thin film leaving a nice lacing. No visible carbonation.

Smell: A strong balance of citric-bitter hops and sweet, bready malts.

Taste: The hops are crisp and brilliant. The malts are sweet and mild. The aftertaste is clean, bitter, and reminiscent.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body with a modest carbonated bite. Finishes a little dry.

Overall: This tastes just like a west coast A/IPA, mission accomplished! It is nothing spectacular but it isn't a bad beer either. Solid, tasty, and enjoyable.

Had to pick this baby up, being a homebrewer not having the chance to use wet hops, yet, I wanted to give it a try.

Pours a clear, pale yellow with rocky white head and lasting lacing.

Smell of light grains and not the normal hop aroma you'd expect from a Pale. Much more 'green' and floral on the nose, I'm not familiar with Crystal, but the Centennial and Cascade are pretty easily discernible. Slightly sweet smelling. Citrus, almost clementine-y, and fresh peach. Some vegetal, celery like aromas come through.

Yellow summer beer. Typical light pale you'd expect this time of year, with some big Cascade flavors. Some malt sweetness, pleasant bitterness, and a fresher hop flavor than is typical from dried hops. Slightly spicy, a little citrus, mostly green and floral.

Coats the mouth well, residual sweetness but surprisingly dry. Well carb'd, if slightly under.

I don't know that I'd buy this again, but it's a must try if you've never experienced wet hops. Good-Great show, overall.

Stopped by Blue Point brewery today to get a fresh pint of thier newest beer Wet Hops.

A - Poured a medium orange/copper color with a cream colored head.

S - Smells of fresh hops, and exotic fruits. Nice aroma on the nose.

T - Hop forward, with tastes of grapefruit/pineapple flavors, and a fairly strong malt presence. A nice tasting beer.

M - A pleasanst medium bodied beer. Good carbonation, and a nice finish.

O - I really enjoyed this beer. Good taste, overall a beer I would have again. In fact I picked up a growler of it.

Nose reminds of durian (the weaponizable fruit).
Love it, hate it, or love to hate it.
Unique smell average+ taste. Moderate to low head. Nice warm color. Wouldn't drink it on it's own, but works to wash down a spicy dish. Something like buffalo chicken works good.
