I purchased this bottle as both an homage to my friend, @Scoats, a great publican, excellent host and masterful creator of mosaics as well as the J. P. McCaskey High School Art Department, who has adopted an ongoing mosaic project as a massive student undertaking.

From the bottle: "Craft Brewed [-] Extremely Fresh"; "Inspired by the original Blue Point Brewery bar top created in 1997."; "Sidle up to a piece of Long Island history in the tasting room in Patchogue, NY or visit us at ... Cheers! [undersigned] Mark & Peter".

I just love watching beer pour into my glass! It is not just the pseudo-cascade, but the slow creation of head and its eventual (literal) downfall. In this instance, I had two fingers of rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention. Color was a bright sunshine-yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4). This sort of thing always makes me smile, and especially on a dreary Winter's day here in PA, but tonight, it was a hot, humid Summer evening, but I was still smiling. Nose had a wildly mosaic-like scent, combining pine, grapefruit and mango. Yum! Mouthfeel was kind of thin and the taste, while fruity, seemed like someone had dialed down the volume on it. That is my great fear with these so-called "session beers" - we are sacrificing taste in favor of lower alcohol. Finish was semi-dry and while hoppy, I just felt like it was not living up to its potential. Aroma vs. Bittering? In this case, Aroma won, but it was a Pyrrhic victory.

Pours a golden straw color with a short dense pure white head. Not much lacing settles into a light cap.

The aroma is of musty hops with an apricot note. Meh.

The taste is light. Light malt not much there which is ok for a session IPA. The hops are weak. A bit grassy and leafy with hints of apricot. Tastes like English hops.

Moderate feel with prickly carbonation. Lightly sweet on the palate with a hoppy bitter offset. Drinks easy.

A rather boring session IPA. Not a big fan of the hop profile but it does drink quite well.

Bottled 3/18/14. Bought last week in a mixed six. Need to bring a magnifier when I buy beer so I can read the frigging bottled-on dates.

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Lawson's tulip.

a: Nearly clear orange with a finger thick white head which receded to even surface foam and some patchy lacing,

s: Grapefruit.

t: Pretty tart grapefruit up front over a light malt base. Bitter finish.

m: Light to medium. Nice body.

o: From the gitgo this lets you know it's an IPA, and for a session brew, it is exceptional! One of my top three session IPAs now, will definitely be looking for a sixpack of this. I'm not big on session drinking, but that could change now. The grapefruit is so strong it gets a bit grating, but it's definitely refreshing, and never boring. At three months of age it's still a relative session monster.

Picked this listing to review I am not sure why their is another one listed as 5.2% as far as I know its only been brewed once at 4.8%

A - The lightest of the session IPA's I have had tonight just a bright yellow mild orange hue with a hazy color. Head is decent just a 1/4 inch that settles to a very attractive lace ring.
S - Ah good hop aroma very dank and herbal. Kind of faded at this point but still very piney and sweet.
T - Mild honey like body with sweet malts meets semi bitter earthy hop taste. Pretty nice.
M - Light bodied not as watery as I expected. Decent!

Overall a pretty nice tasting session IPA worth picking up!

I picked this up at wegmans -enjoyed chilled in a tulip from the 12oz brown bottle without freshness date.

The color is honey golden with moderate haze and thick white head that settles to a film with fine bead -retention is good and lace sticks well in rings. The smell is very herbal and citrus with a mild hint of hay and pepper with some light floral aspects. The feel is good but a little on the thin side with moderately high bitterness with low astringency and slight sweetness with mostly dry finish.

The taste is very good -lots of citrus which is more in the grapefruit realm with slight grassy element and hints of pine and herbs alongside mild malt backing with light earthy hop balanced by a mostly clean yeast and subtle hint of spice in the background. The Mosaic is showcased with with lemon-lime and the slight orange rind yet it gets a little astringent as it finishes without much in the way of malt to balance. Overall this is very tasty and really doesn't scrimp on hop flavor so it lives up to the style pretty well - I would drink this when I am in the mood for a dry hoppy session.

Pours a fairly hazy light orange with a one finger head and decent retention. Aroma of grass and grapefruit. Taste is a moderate amount of pine hop flavor with more grapefruit and a nice apricot bite. Heavier mouthfeel than I was lead to believe, quite pleasant. All around great session IPA.
