From 10/06/12 notes.

a - Pours a deep orange amber color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of spice, pepper, nutmeg, pumpkin, bread, grains, and wheat. Lots of spice, and light on the pumpkin. Pretty average.

t - Tastes of spice, cloves, pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, pumkin, bread, grains, dough, biscuit malts. A little more pumpkin than the nose, but still spicy.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Easy to drink and seems like a pretty low ABV beer.

o - Overall a pretty average pumpkin ale. Lots of spice to it and not enough pumpkin/gingerbread for me. Wouldn't seek it out again with out great options available everywhere, unless you really love pumpkin beers and are at the brewpub.

A: dark amber/orange body, trace head, zero lacing

S: big nutmeg and cinnamon nose, little pumpkin

T: sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, light malt
hint of pumpkin in crisp finish

M: light body, crisp dry mouth

O: Disappointed, think it needed more body
and more pumpkin.

First had: on tap at Heartland Chophouse, NYC, NY

A pleasant, spicy pumpkin ale. Pours orange-brown with a decent off-white head. Spicy aroma, sweet malts. Pumpkin pie taste but not too strong, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, sweet caramel malts, barely any hops noticeable. Medium mouthfeel, and drinkable; pleasant in autumn.

Poured a one finger offwhite head on top of a seethru orangish, brownish body with a tad bit of lace. Nice smell of cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin with touches of pepper. A good pumpkin taste with caramel malt complemented by cinnamon and pepper, but the taste is light and a tad watery body. Worse, the alcohol pokes through a little and has a not too pleasant backbite. Not a bad pumpkin ale but not exactly my cup of tea.

Appearance: dark orange in color with a 1" head that breaks apart quickly.

Smell: little aroma as some soft caramel sweetness is all one can detect here.

Taste: caramel, light pumpkim flavor, some hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, and a soft bitterness level.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Lightly crisp to start, smooth at the finish.

Drinkability: this beer was decent for the season, but the flavors were a bit muted and needs to be kicked up a bit.

On-tap at the brewery in the Empire State Building...
Pours a cream-colored, orange hue with slight carbonation and a minor head that quickly dissipated...
Loads of cloves, ginger, and nutgmeg up front... The taste, likewise, danced with spices... gingerbread, definite pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice...
Medium-bodied mouthfeel,
easily drinkable, clocking in at about 5.5% ABV...
Not bad...

Smiling Pumpkin Ale..

Appearance-clear dark orange, thick head off the tap, shiny and radiant look.

Smell-really spicy, nutmeg pumpkin and alcohol, trying to get other spices but nothing else that I really notice.

Taste/Mouthfeel-smooth but yeech, spices are mushed in there with a caramel sweetness, did not much care for the pumpkin, I'm not sure if that's because of a lack of liking for the flavor in general or just this particular one, but I wasn't a fan at all of the way this tasted.

Drinkability-I finished the pint, did not want another, too spicy and no warmth that I was hoping for to help with the winter weather.

Overall-Well, it was my first pumpkin ale, I'll try others to compare but I thought this was pretty awful.

had on tap at Heartland in NYC on 10.6.08 for the Tour de Pink (with Rob and Shawna)

nice clear copper color. good almost 2 finger head - thick like guiness. the head was a nice light tannish off white head which leaves a fantastic lacing. smell is awesome. strong pumpkin - spicy nutmeg undertones, almost smells like cloves in there as well as some corriander. not too strong in smell, but well balanced on the nose. taste is good - not as good as the smell - slight dissapointment. the pumpkin flavor is nice, but a lot of the other spices are missing in the taste. mouthfeel is great - good balance on the palate, covers mouth well, slight carbonation.

A-Pours a medium brown, very clear with a decent off white head.

S-The odour is strong with the spices, ginger cinammon, clove and a small ammount of brown sugar.

T-Slightly sweet ale with a nice spice kick. They same ones as the nose. You really do not get much if any actual pumpkin flavour. Basically a sweeter caramel type ale with spices added.

M-Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

D-A drinkable brew, nothing off or bland about it but lackign a certain pumpkin oomph I like from the style.

Served an orange amber with a nice white headskie. All that pumpkin pie spice right up front, some but not much actual pumpkin flavor- well balanced and smooth, but a touch too spicey to go down easy. All and all, yum, but I'll stop at one. One of the better pumpkin brews out there, but not near the top of the game.
