Appearance – This one poured light yellow in color with some good carbonation and a nice, filmy head.

Smell – The light corn aroma and nasty sugar was too much to bear.

Taste – The corn actually isn’t all that bad, but the disgusting cheap, sugar-sweet finish makes me want to hurl.

Mouthfeel – I enjoyed the mouthfeel of this lager. It’s a little bigger than light-bodied and is fluffy in the cheeks with some good, refreshing carbonation.

Drinkability – This has some promise but right now needs a little work. Is the brewmaster tasting this stuff before putting it out for public consumption?

Cornhusker Lager.

Heartland Brewery- beer 3 of 8!

Appearance- bright yellow. First piss-o'-the-mornin' yellow!! No head scary looking!
Smell- sweet! Sweet yellow corn niblets!! with sugar!
Taste- blah! Creamed corn in alcoholc form!

Overall- this was horrible. A weak lager with no flavor other than a cheap skuny corn flavor. Very Reminesient of Meister Brau or some cheap beer you drank in college!

At the Radio City location. A transition lager, I would think, to be more natural than your national brands. Neutral smell, a kittle head, this one had above average carbonation and little taste. There was a drop of hop, and corn as they promise. The mouthfeel was on the thin side. Nice drops on the glass of lace. Ho hum.

On-tap at Heartland Brewery and Chophouse (Times Square), New York, NY

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down a bit but never completely faded away.
S: Faint aromas of corn and honey are present in the nose.
T: The taste has bits of sweetness and hints of honey along with a faint amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light-bodied and a little clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is not a bad beer for the style and I was happy I tried it. I would have no problem drinking several of these in succession. The taste does not deteriorate as the beer warms up.

My second beer at the breweries ESB location on 18th Jan 2013.

Looked like a lager/pilsner: tasted like a lager/pilsner.

Bright, clean and clear body of golden liquid, on top a thin snow white head.

No smell worthy of mention: gets an average score like most lagers.

Dry more than sweet, grainy more than hoppy.

Nothing wrong with it: but could have been any number of lagers/pilsners from anywhwere in the world.

Poured a light copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and good lacing.

The smell featured a musty noble hop and sweet flaky corn aroma.

The taste consisted of a corn flake like body with a smattering of floral hop.

The was light yet coating, with an astringent finish.

Overall a boring corn concoction with a poor mouthfeel.

I had this as a part of a voyage at the Heartland at 51st between fifth and sixth avenues in Manhattan. I thought this was better than many of the reviews. I wasn't aware it was an adjunct lager and found it to be more of a german style lager. Light in color, a little bit of a hop/dry bite, ok aroma. Not bad overall but not the best in the bunch.

Had this beer at the Radio City location. Served as part of the flight. IN a small sample glass, cool.

Pours an orange yellow body with a white head. Clean lager yeast smell. Tangy flavor with a nice hop cleaning flavor. Light mouthfeel, good carbonation.

Not a bad beer. I would have this again.

Clear gold color, wispy head on the pour served in a long glass.

Smell of slight hops, grain, and alcohol.

Taste is reminiscent of BMC and other American macros, I'm not sure if they use adjuncts in this, as it is clean but not as grainy as normal macros.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth but nothing too crazy to note.

Drinkability- You could quaff this all day, same as any other macro.

Overall- I understand the need to cater to the BMC crowd and give them something to feel comfortable with, as it it's good for business I'm sure, but this beer does absolutely nothing for me and they should do something (anything) to improve it. In a town where you can find Brooklyn Lager almost anywhere this beer looks like sheer rubbish by comparison.

First had: on tap at Heartland Chophouse, NYC, NY

I don't like this beer as much as I did when I first started drinking it. I think I notice the corny taste more now, and I'm not liking it as much. But it's still a good, relatively non-threatening beer, and a good opener for a night of drinking, or just as a pre-dinner beer.

Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that doesn't linger very long. Sweet malts and obvious corn in the nose. Light tasting, malty, very pronounced corn sweetness, and little to no hops. Can leave a little funk in the mouth afterwards. Pretty clean and easily drinkable.

Samples at Radio City, New York. Pours golden hue with a thing, short lived, white head. Aroma is of citrus fruit and caramel. Flavor is similar to aroma, too much sweetness from corn. Medium, crisp body. Drinkable, but boring brew. Although it is much better than standart macros.

Got a pint of this from the brewery.

A: Pours a deep golden body with a small white head with decent retention and lacing.

S: A sweet, malty smell with some bitter undertones.

T: A sweet, malty taste overall that seemed a little thin. A somewhat sweet aftertaste, but was pretty good overall.

M: A fairly light mouthfeel that was pretty crisp and refreshing.

D: A nice combination of mouthfeel and taste makes this beer pretty drinkable. A pretty smooth drinking lager that is a nice summer beer or just a beer to chill with. Probably one of the better beers Heartland has to offer.

As far as light lagers go, this one is better than most. It pours a honey golden color with a nice head and great sticky lace.

Very mild aromas--the greatest smell for me is similar to perfume. The flavor of this beer is very dry--no malt sugars that I can detect. The hop is present but muted. For an adjunct beer, this one is surprisingly full-bodied. The carbonation is on the low side. The aftertaste is slightly sour, like milk after swallowing.

As I said before, this is better than most American watered down lagers. that said, it's still non-descript other than the tartness.

Appearance: clear pale yellow in color with a 2" head that falls apart pretty quickly. Some spots of lace stick to the glass during the session.

Smell: grass and corn are soft and hard to pull out of the glass.

Taste: light malt base here with some corn and grassy tones. Little bitterness. A bit tastier than some other mass produced macro lagers, but still pretty one dimensional.

Mouthfeel: Light in body. Crisp and lightly dry througohut. Clean aftertaste.

Drinkability: this one is a generic macro crowd pleaser, and since it provides a bit more flavor it is a good choice for those non-adventourous beer drinkers.

This was sampled as one of eight beers available at last visit.

The pour was of a clear gold, light in hue with a soapy textured head on top. Slight grass in the nose, not offensive and slight. Very light but balanced pilsener style, grass flavor comes in at the finish, and then in the short aftertaste.

Very light, some balance, adjunct lager for the masses
