Found this in a massive liquor store in Kornwestheim north of Stuttgart. e0,33l bottle notched with a best by date of 6.24. Didn't have a chance to drink this in Köln at their brewpub so I'm happy to have a chance now. Pretty standard version of the style, certainly below average. Likely much better on draft or from the barrel at their pub. Very grainy, a bit sweet, heavy on the cereal. Plain and one-sided, decent when cold. Ranked as low as it is for a reason. If you're in Köln, make this place one of your first stops or no stop at all, as there are so many better examples in the city.

Peters Brauhaus "Peters Kölsch"
€2,10/,2L vom fass at the brewery on 27.09.21
Look: Crystak clear deep gold body beneath an inch of bright white foam. Good head retention; limited lacing.
Smell: Bready malt with a light hint of fruitiness.
Taste: As the aroma indicates with more apple, a firm bitterness, and spicy hoppiness. Lingering dry finish.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp.
Overall: One of the finer Kölsch available in Köln but not the best.

Handsome clear golden yellow brew with plenty of foam in the tumbler. Not a whiff of aroma but a little grainy nose. More than anything this tastes like a standard lager with maybe more of a touch of hops. Slightly bitter, dishwatery aftertaste. Overall this is the standard Kölsch rather than anything interesting. From the 0.33 litre swing-top bottle purchased at a convenience store in Köln.

Pours a bright golden color, with a one finger broad white head to it.
Smells of wheat and some toffee, not much going on as far as the aromas go.
Refreshing with a pleasant crispness, has a high carbonation to it, while remaining very light bodied.
Tastes aqueous, strawy, white bread malts and an uprising toffee sweetness. Noble hops during the mid palate with bright and sweet hay, while hops are fading during the finish.
Very light bodied, not thin yet. Offers enough flavors to remain interesting on the palate.

On-draught @ Peters Brauhaus in Koln.
Forgettable for a Koln-brewed Kolsch, but enjoyable nonetheless. And highly drinkable in spite of its relative insipidness. Bright malt (Munich malt) profile. Generic floral hop character.
I like it, but would personally prefer many of the other expressions of the style available in Koln.
