500ml bottle poured into tulip 13/6/13 bottle courtesy of liamt07
A dark brown like root beer, enough clarity to nearly see the other side of the glass under a short lived finger of tan foam that leaves no lace, second pour has much better retention and leaves a few random patches, perhaps my glass was dirty
S nutty dark toffee with some molasses, raisins and plums, faint smoke and coco with a hint of booze and cola
T hazelnut and some cherries, to go with what I smell, not the most intense flavors but its a nice mellow sipper
M a little thin but the bubbles give it some life, a little booze but its mellow, nutty brown sugar lingers on the finish, the strongest flavors might be on the aftertaste
O decent brew that has some complexity but lacking intensity, its a nice mellow brew that's worth trying for sure
Bottled Jan, 29, 2012 and I think this one may have peaked already, I wouldn't keep aging this batch but I'd like to try a fresh batch and see what differs.

Bottle from Liam
Deep brown colour, ring of white head with some lace here as well. Smell is of darker fruits, chocolatey with some sweet malty and bread like flavours, some spicy notes from time to time, some earthy leafy hop also hangs around as well. Taste follows the nose with dark fruits and chocolate, coffee with some dark breads as well, some over ripe plum and raisin mixed with a mid palate medium bitterness, roasty and fruity aftertaste. Lightly carbonated, fairly medium bodied throughout with a few lighter points as well. A well executed and flavourful beer, no sign of the 8.1% alcohol here and drank exceptionally quick.

Bottle from the brewery, 500ml into a tulip. January 2013 bottling.
Dark brown body, with a beige head. Good dense retention and nice lacing. Nose is bready, some dark fruits, toffee and molasses notes. A bit of chocolate in there as well. Taste mirrors this, sweet malts, light fruit notes, dark breads and a touch of alcohol. Medium full body, low carbonation. Not all that complex, but still a good drink.

Day after Amsterdam Tap Takeover, at Bar Volo. Sweet beer, more like a sweet stout. Orange citrus. Somewhat astringent. Not on the mark. Some chocolate malt. Closer to an English Mild in taste. Some astringency in the aftertaste. One of my least preferred Amsterdam adventures.
