Pours a dark brown/black with a bit of light coming through and a nice brown head that leaves some lacing down the glass. Sweet chocolatey smells with some nice, not too bitter, roastedness as well. Sweet chocolate tastes, with some slightly bitter qualities to it. There is also a slightly bitter coffee flavor and a nice roastedness. Although it is a little thin, the medium bodied brew still retains a nice smoothness. The chewyness that I often associate with this style is curiously missing though. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as it does make this a very quaffable brew that would be great for some session drinking. Thanks to pbrian for the sample.

A solid, but not over-the-top, oatmeal stout. Pours black with clear ruby edges, thin head, low carbonation. Nice burnt malt aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. You can always expect a nice malt profile in a H&N brew and this one doesn't disappoint. Oats and roasted malt flavor. The thinner body actually complimented last night's heat, but was less than I was hoping for.
