Ritterguts Gose is the oldest existing, most authentic Gose in the world. We still brew this unique beer in the old-fashioned, original way, using genuine Gose yeast, coriander and salt. Ritterguts Gose's refreshing characteristics are developed through a secondary lactic fermentation, which produces a round and harmonious acidity. Its rare, classic open fermentation and long, cold maturation make it exceptionally well-balanced, the way a real Gose was meant to be. Enjoy a taste of the finest Leipzig tradition!

500ml bottle. No dating information found.
Cloudy, pale gold colored body. Brief white head. No lacing.
Aroma of peach, lemon, pear, coriander and salt.
Taste is lemon, peach and pear, coriander, and salt.
Medium mouth feel, with some syrup. Very good carbonation.
Presents as a very traditional gose, with salt backing up the slightly sour fruit flavors. Modest spice.

RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. The second Gose of my life. Cloudy pale golden colour. Hefeweizen and saltwater aroma. Moderately sour, milky and slightly salty flavour. A nice Gose.

Had on tap. Cloudy amber body, visible carbonation feeds the white head. Standard sour wheat, lemon, orange, and salt in the nose. Taste is a touch more complex with some white grape, green apple and a hint of coriander. Well rounded gose with light tartness, higher carbonation does cut the wheat character a bit. No real weaknesses but doesn't exactly stand out either

Had this at Sour Fest 2019 at Hops & Pie in Denver.
Was surprised this was a light amber color, expected yellow. 1/3" white head. Aroma was pretty traditional, didn't have caramel like I thought might have been possible looking at the color. Was otherwise just traditional gose lemon like yeast notes, salinity and coriander. Traditional as the kids don't say.
Taste revealed a gose that was traditional unlike a lot of the amped up wild ales that call themselves gose. Drinks much lighter than its appearance. Lotta those lemon notes to the wheat. Has that nice citric acid kick to it. Well carbonated. I'm glad I started early with it, as there was so many great beers that day, almost all of them bigger and more sour. This is like a nice lightly toasted piece of sourdough bread.
If you're gonna drink it, drink it first. Its delicate nuance (salt aside) deserves to go first, otherwise it will prolly taste understated compared to more aggro beers.

Thin, dry, and tart. This one reminds us more of a gentle apple cider than a beer. Crushable though, and emblematic of what you typically see from a traditional German sour. Simply delicious.

Thanks to a concerted effort on my part, there has been a significant reduction in the Bottle (Gasp!) Backlog here at Chez Woody. The effort continues with this beer.
From the Bottle (!): "Sour German Beer with Salt & Spice"; "World Beer Awards 13 World's Best Gold"; "Enjoy the unique taste and distinctive freshness of Original Ritterguts Gose, which is still brewed in the traditional way. It has been a specialty of the city of Leipzig since 1738."; "Gose is a natural product, brewed with coriander and salt. As the traditional brewing process includes lactic fermentation, as well as bottle conditioning, there is a possibility of yeast sedimentation in the bottle. We recommend gently shaking the bottle to mix the yeast before opening it."; "A Leipzig tradition since 1738".
I have had this bottle hanging around for a while, causing quite a bit of lees to visibly form on the kick/punt, but I Pop!ped the cap & started a slow, gentle C-Line pour all the same. Once I had sufficiently charged the awaiting glass & was not seeing any head, I initiated a vigorous in-glass swirl. It was lightly carbonated, but I still did not get any head forming. 8=( Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose had a pronounced saltiness along with a light peppery spiciness. Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin & watery, about on par for a Tart/Sour beer. The taste was definitely tart, not sour, with a salty tanginess underlain by the spices. In this bottle, salt was unquestionably king! Finish was tart and dry, as any beer involving spices should be expected to be. It would be a highly refreshing beer on a hot, humid Summer's day or a nice accompaniment to a seafood supper, especially of fish. Mmm. YMMV.

Poured from fridge temp. Pours a nice orange with a good amount of white head. The salt comes through on the nose right away. A bit of citrus fruit, and an herbal note. A bit of grass. The taste is awesome. Nice sweet and salty notes. Definitely some wheat, tropical fruit, bitter lemon peel, and some earthy notes. Mouthfeel is dry and light. Overall, this is wonderful.

Poured from 500mL bottle into a tulip. There are a couple Ritterguts Gose entries here, but this one matches the ABV, so I'll go with this one.
Appearance: clear body with a pale light orange hue and a finger of compact ivory froth. It looks nice; I imagine this is nearly the definition of the style.
Smell: sweet malt with a little bit of a floral aroma and a touch of sourness. Some piece of this combination gives off a hint of spearmint as well; I like it.
Taste: there's a mild sweetness, a good malty flavor, and just the littlest hint of sourness. The salt doesn't come forward as "salty" but simply as a flavor enhancement. I like the simplicity of this beer -- American interpretations often go quite crazy -- and the balance achieved here.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this beer isn't fancy, but it delivers the Gose goods quite nicely.
