My first Huske offering,I really came away impressed.Poured into a standard pint a deep dark chocolate brown with a thinner well defined mocha colored head atop.Alot of roast in the nose along with bitter chocolate and light molasses-like sweetness, the roast being the main component.A full but mellow feel to the beer just like an oatmeal stout should be,spot on.Dry and roasted up front with bitter chocolate flavors coming into play, mild molasses flavors in a lingering finish. This is a killer stout,I need to try more stuff fromm HH.

A - black with a thin lacing of brown head

S - dark fruit, some licorice, roasted malts

T - roasted malts, coffee, dark fruit, rather bitter finish

M - medium bodied, well carbonated

This is a decent beer though it's a bit more bitter than I would have liked. The roasted malts are impressive. They lend a few different notes which make each sip intriguing. I'm not sure when I'll ever get another Huske offering, but I won't turn it down.

"An imperial oatcreme stout made with flaked oats and barley, finished with lactose for extra body and creaminess. Slightly sweet and full-bodied"

a: served in a large pint glass, the beer itself is a deep, dark brown in color with a full dark khaki head, excellent retention and heavy lace, can't ask for anything else

s: medium roast coffee bean, dark cocoa powder, semisweet chocolate, molasses, sweet caramels...heavy, rich, and full of great stout character

m: the combination of moderate carbonation and a light-full body make for a smooth and creamy mouthfeel, not a big surprise given the additions of oatmeal and lactose

t: all the rich flavors found in the aroma carried by the creamy body makes for a superb taste experience, chocolates over rich caramel, huge roasts, the robust and bittersweet flavors of molasses, earthy hops impart a medium bitterness, utterly rich and well constructed

d: a super satisfying stout, and one of the better examples of the style I've found anywhere, finished off two on the rainy Saturday while enjoying some Wolfpack football

enjoyed at the brewpub while home for Thanksgiving, review entered from cell notes...my first visit to the new Huske since they started brewing, and I must admit that I've been quite impressed

A: Served a deep brown color with a thick tan head that fades to decent lacing.

S: Aroma of coffee and chocolate with a hint of spice.

T: Taste of dark chocolate and coffee with a nice bitterness and a dry finish.

F: Full body, smooth and creamy. Nicely balanced.

O: Nice easy drinker. This is a nice solid stout from a local brewer.

on tap at beer study in chapel hill. shaker.

pours a pitch black with a mild beige head. smell is malty and chocolatey. good , typical scent. the taste holds true with coffee and dark chocolate notes. body is a tad lighter than expected. low carbonation

overall good, body could use some work but the flavor is there.

On-tap at Cherry Bomb Grill served in a standard pint glass a deep almost opaque black that shows ruby highlights when held to light. The beer is topped with a thin quickly diminishing head that leaves slight lacing on the glass. Aroma is a nice amount of roasted malts. The taste is smooth roasted malts alongside caramel malts and mild coffee. The beer is fairly light bodied with smooth carbonation. This is a respectable Stout to say the least, one I could certainly see myself ordering again.

Appearance: Inviting black body capped with a frothy, beige-colored head.

Smell: Roasty nose with a very distinct, very appealing coffee scent. There's a rich, gooey note to it, like sniffing a homemade cookie batter.

Taste: Rich roastiness that, along with the mildly sweet coffee taste and creaminess of the beverage, makes it feel like you're sipping on melted coffee ice cream. An earthy bitterness compliments the roasty component. Finishes dry and roast with a small final taste of dark chocolate.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Slight overall creaminess to the mouthfeel.

Drinkability: Thumbs up! A very enjoyable robust stout from Huske Hardware.
